Description

As you can probably tell by the name, I didn't have much money to work with I believe the total was $443.00 and I still managed to fit a Fx-6300 and a 7850 2gb in it.

Purposes: Minecraft with Shaders, Garry's Mod, TF2, DOTA 2, Far Cry 3 and the list goes on and on.

Part Choices and Explanations:

CPU: I got it on sale for $20 less than its original price. At first I was going for the FX-4300 but then realized that the 6300 was $5 more so thanks to the help at this community (PCPartPicker) I decided to go with the 6300. And it was 2 cores for $5 you cant beat that.

Motherboard: It is a 9 series chipset, AM3+, 32 gb's of RAM supported, ATX, and it was bundled with the FX-6300 for $39.99.

RAM: It is 1.5v, it's corsair, it has a beastly heatsink, and I was planning on overclocking the RAM for absolutely no reason.

Hard Drive: FREE!!!!

Graphics Card: This is the part I know I might get some hate on. I went with the 7850 because it fit within budget and I needed a strong GFX card it was the cheapest 7850 with 2gb's I could find it was even cheaper than some 1gb 7850's. WHY NOT?!?!

Case: Its Cheap, Its ATX, Its Thermaltake

PSU: It has 4xSATA, 2xMOLEX, 2x4 Pin CPU POWER, and 24 PIN Motherboard connector. It was bundled with the case for $25 I cant argue with that.

Comments are welcomed, criticisms are invited so long as they aren't mean, and thanks for reading.

Thanks to: RyneSmith (PSU Help), skemble (Overall Help), swagnuggets123 (A Cool Name that I decided to add) and all of the PCPartPicker community.

Pictures do not have the RAM in it yet because it hasn't arrived. I will post pictures of it with the RAM as soon as I get it.

CABLE MANAGEMENT IS ALMOST NON EXISTENT IN THIS CASE (<------That was punny)

Results as of 9/18/13:

Minecraft with highest possible settings 60 FPS

Just Cause 2 highest settings 100 FPS

Team Fortress 2 everythings highest 100-300 FPS

DayZ (Coming Soon)

Black Ops 2 (Coming Soon)

Nice balanced build, should do you well.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

Thank You.

I love this. You got some crazy bang for the buck performance that is in another tier of it's own for value. I'd love to see some FPS in popular games, but other than that, just.... wow.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

Thank you very much, 9 months of planning fit into this. I will edit this page with the FPS and Scores on Benchmarks soon.

DontUSASme 1 point 22 months ago

Please do! I'd love to see them!

Very Nice. My nephew wants a gaming pc and is also on a budget. I think I'll steal a few ideas from you.

Build? Lol thank you

One Word: Microcenter

Could you not steal my part list for my future build? Thanks! :P But really, the 6300+7850 is a great budget combo.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

lol ok

I'm planning on almost the exact same thing.

I like you case, it's all shiny.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

I only got the case for the power supply, the case is ehhh

sketch24 7 Builds 1 point 22 months ago

Just because the power supply comes with the case doesn't mean it's a great idea. You have a CPU that is on the power hungry side and will be even more power hungry if you overclock. Add to that that you have a medium range video card that uses a decent amount of power on its own and you are looking for a recipe for disaster. I would replace the PSU. The fact that it works means nothing. It's the most important part of the system and could destroy other parts of your system if it goes bad. How high you think you're pushing the wattage doesn't matter either because if it's a low quality PSU (which these included PSUs tend to be) it fry whether it's delivering 20% of it's power or 100%. You don't have to get an expensive PSU, but if you are on a budget get a corsair cx 500, or if you want something much much better, get a XFX 550watt PSU.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

Forgot to mention that the PSU is temporary. Replacing it with a EVGA psu.

The lower wattage EVGA supernovas aren't that great because they are made by FSP and have bad voltage regulation on some of the rails. I would get a higher quality PSU from xfx or a corsair TX.

dkevelx 1 point 22 months ago

You should never really cheap out on the power supply, considering a failure can take out your entire rig. And the power supplies that come with most cases are known for being low quality and providing dirty power and efficiency, at best. At worst, it'll fry your components after it fails.

Personally would have spent a bit more and gotten a better 80+ rated unit.

Other than the PSU, all the other components are pretty good. Especially that CPU.

How do you think this would run dayz/arma 2 or 3? One of the games I plan on getting when I upgrade

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 2 points 22 months ago

It will run dayz fine.

Zombeasle 1 point 22 months ago

Sorry for bothering, but could you be specific? How much fps on lowest settings? Highest? And also, anything else I should know? Gonna be my first time building a pc.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

I will run Dayz today and upload the benchmarks here

Zombeasle 1 point 22 months ago

Thanks, looks like a nice build. Problem is on Abes I couldn't find the parts, and buying them with the recommended sites totals up to like 650-700$.

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

Abes?

If you have a microcenter near you, I would recommend buying your parts from them. If not I could help you budgetize your build.

iCrunchyy 1 point 22 months ago

Hmmmmm....seems legit. Nice budget PC :)

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

Thanks

Zombeasle 1 point 22 months ago

Still waiting on those benchmarks :P

I have the same CPU and motherboard, with a MSI R7850 Twin Frozr video card, and my system won't POST, or even send a signal to the monitor. I have tried reseating everything and I have made sure all the cables are plugged in, and indeed, the fans all are running, but I can't get it to work. Any advice?

(Also, is there supposed to be a motherboard speaker cable that comes with the motherboard, or indeed, any cables besides the Sata 6 connector?)

Mattyice47 submitter 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

I would first try posting it in the Troubleshooting category on the forums for PCPP. And if that doesn't help maybe RMA those guys and get something else.
