Description

I've put a lot of time and money into this thing, and I'm finally pretty satisfied with it. Finally got a second set of RAM to fill them empty slots, sure 16GB is about useless, but it sure looks cool. XD

EDIT: just realized I posted old pics with only one set of RAM. There is now four sticks. =]

Nice case man. How do you like it?

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Love it. Most people hate it because of the aesthetics, which I can understand. Its really a "love it or hate it" case.

Anyway, aside from just the way it looks, its awesome. It has a ton of space to work in, nice hinged door (that also comes off) built in fan controls (albeit only high/low setting), hot swap HDD bays, plenty of fans and room for more, and all the intake fans have removable dust filters.

And the headset stand on the side is a nice touch.

Keep in mind though, it is a bit overpriced. Its supposedly designed by BMW which as any petrolhead knows, you pay a premium for that badge, but its a very nice case, and if you like the way it looks its worth it.

if you ever get a new case ill gladly take that case :)

Gonna get some hate for that biostar mobo.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

I know it. I always get flamed for it, but in the price range its a damn good one. The only other option that might have been better is that one ASrock but I didn't want that because of the weird form factor. It would have made cable management not look as nice and that matters to me. I'm not sure what all the hate is on that mobo anyway, its got good bios, OCs very nicely, and it looks nice.

lutzee [4 Builds] 1 point 24 months ago

Its the fact that Biostar has never been a good respected brand, pretty much it.

Here's another orange and black theme computer from Gamersnexus. It's not as powerful, but it looks pretty cool. http://www.gamersnexus.net/pc-builds/46-pcbuildupg/916-hardcore-orange-gaming-build

I like that graphics card and ram, but I'm not a big fan of the Phantom. Everybody has it. =/

TestBuilds 1 point 24 months ago

Well I thought it was a nice balanced 1080p build, and to be honest, I love the Phantom, but I quite like some Cooler Master cases as well, so I'm considering one for a friend. Thermaltake looks great too, so I may try one of those.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Be careful with thermaltake. I'm very happy with the Level 10 GT, but the case that I had before, the one the dude I got the pc from picked, was like $200 bucks and it was crap.

TestBuilds 1 point 24 months ago

I'll take note of that and read some reviews before getting one of those.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Definitely do that. They make some good stuff, but they make some really bad products too. They have some liquid cooling system and apparently its really bad. Leaks real bad and stuff.

tommy1222 [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Really nice setup. I have the same desk and it's interesting seeing where you decided to put the computer.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Do you have a pic of your setup? I would like to see it. =]

I really kind of hate this desk. the shape forces me to loose a bunch of desk space behind the monitor. I could move the monitor back and use the space in front of it, but then it will be too far away. But I got the desk on craigslist for $30 so I got a pretty good deal.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Nevermind, I just went into your profile and checked it out. Idk if mine would fit on top of the desk like that. And it would just snap the desk in half, it weighs... well, a lot. lol

brandonmorgan1234 1 point 24 months ago

I don't know why everyone hates on the level 10's. Your case needs to work looks are really not that important its not like your computer is gonna be faster or slower JUST because of how the case looks. How is windows 8 without a touchscreen? Nice build though.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Windows 8 is wonderful. Everyone keeps saying its a "tablet os" and it has a "touch based UI" and really its just windows 7 with a new start screen. If you have a tablet, then you'll probably like the metro apps and find yourself in the start menu quite a bit, if you have a desktop then you'll just use desktop mode most of the time and start menu is only a shortcut to main programs. Just like any other version of windows. The OS as a whole is quite a bit quicker. I wouldn't go back to 7 for anything.

brandonmorgan1234 1 point 24 months ago

Well i hope you enjoy it...I'm stuck with a laptop for now witch sucks.

jonjonjon [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

i personally hate the way those cases look. you are right its only aesthetics and functionality is more important. but im guessing people buy it because of the way it looks. either way i wouldn't knock someone for getting it if they like it.

samotage 1 point 24 months ago

Great Build! Nice Part list and performance to price ratio too. Very nice Rig you've got there!

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Thanks! A few of my things are a bit overpriced like my case and keyboard, but I spent a lot of time picking them out and I am very happy with em. I think it was worth it.

samotage 1 point 24 months ago

If you have money to kill, or your wanting to build a dream machine, money doesn't matter. Spending all those hours of research to get what you want is the best part about building a computer. I recently finished a PCPartpicker list for the Dream Machine I'm working on.

Did the drive have a heatsynk?

IamApropos [3 Builds] 0 points 24 months ago

I see some really top end parts, high quality great stuff but why go cheap on the one part that everything connects to, the motherboard? Color theme maybe? It looks like one of the tubes in the water cooling system is slightly kinked. I'd classifiy this as an extravagant build and it sure is pretty.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Ugh. I know. Long story short, I got a pc from a buddy, and changed everything one part at a time. problem was that the CPU was AMD, so to get intel I had to buy 2 things at once. I wanted a sabertooth, but I only had like $450 or so to spend so I had to go a little cheap. That being said, it is a VERY good mobo for the price. The BIOS are very easy to navigate and use, and I've OC'd to 4.2 with no issues. I could go higher, but I don't know enough about OCing to feel comfortable moving past default voltage.

Anyway, even though I didn't get the mobo I really wanted, I can't really see getting any kind of performance increase from any other mobo.

IamApropos [3 Builds] 1 point 24 months ago

Well I guess the cool thing about that MB is that you got fans orange to match it, You could have went with a Zotac GPU and even further matched the colors also some Curcial Tracer Orange LED RAM!!! And and ha ha aha ha ya I go a little over board sorry :) anyways I can probably assume that every time you see that computer you smile and are very proud of it.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

You would be correct in assuming that. The ONLY thing I kinda wish I had done instead is go with the Level 10 GT Snow Ed. But it was an extra $80 at the time, and it didn't really seem worth it just for a different color. And all my other stuff is black anyway.

I really baby my computer, I open it up to blow out the dust every weekend, and about once every three months I actually take all the fans off and clean em with a cloth/qtips and such. My fiance gets jealous of my computer. XD

IamApropos [3 Builds] 1 point 24 months ago

oh man if you got some custom orange sleeved wires O.o - I was just off thinking about your system and thought HECK YA!! ORANGE!!!! lol

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

I should do it. If nothing else I'm pretty sure you can buy PSU wire sleeving by itself and just put it on. If I could find some the same color as the Cougar fans... Dude.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Epic! Now I just gotta look and see if they have two 8pin connectors for the GPU. If they do I'm gonna order all of em.

MrStig91 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 24 months ago

Also, not sure if that was a kink or just the angle of the photo, but I just looked in my pc and its not kinked. I definitely see it in that pic though.
