Corsair Carbide Spec-03 Build

Description

I use this machine for gaming, video editing, graphic design (photoshop), basically an all round rig as it covers everything I work in.

I did get an error saying the Hyper 212 isn't compatible with the Spec-03 case but I have a few mm clearance from the side panel.

This is my build. The case came with 2 fans included (x1 120mm Rear and Front) but I added a few more.

The machine stays cool, keeping all the components cool and it handles games at max with a steady frame rate.

My temps are:

Idle CPU: Mid-high 20's - Low 30's

Load CPU: High 40's - Low 50's

Idle GPU: 24 - 26

Load GPU: High 40's - Low 50's

Please note that these temps were taken from playing DayZ Standalone.

I haven't overclocked anything, as right now there really isn't any need to.

I am going to be upgrading my RAM hopefully by next year, as some newer games ask for a minimum of 8GB.

I will one day be getting another EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Dual Classified ACX to SLI. (I know people say that a single card is stronger but seriously, my motherboard supports SLI so I am going to make the most of it. Besides the 780 I have on its own is an absolute tank of a card so I won't be SLI'ing anytime soon)

I know the cables look very messy! That is going to be dealt with.

Please leave your comments, I'd love to read what people have to say.

I am looking to buy this case for my own build so I have a few questions:
What was building in this case like?
You said that your cables are messy but do you have the options to clean them up?
Was there a lot of room? Did you feel it was a squeeze to fit the Cooler, GPU etc.

Very nice setup here. I just got my parts a few days ago and i am putting it together tomorrow. Just don't understand one thing: Why did you pick the worst case Corsair makes? At least get a Corsair 300R for the money you spent! However, extremely nice build, Intel and EVGA all the way!

So does the 212 evo fit in enough to close the side panel fully?

Would you say that a h75 would fit in the front or bottom? Very curious about this case, could be the perfect one for me.

The corsair website lists them as compatible so yes, you will be able to.

Also says that the h100i doesn't fit so I don't trust them. Also it doesn't say where but thanks anyway...

I am pretty sure that it would be top mounted as most rads are.

Ah, as I thought. Will have to DIY it when I get the case.

That case reminds me of Hades from God of War 3.

And Bane.

Nice looking build and was glad to see someone do a build with this case. Overall looks good and I am impressed with your part selection.

what kind of fans did you add in this case?

repzaj1234 1 point 5 months ago

Wondering that too. AFAIK only 1 red LED fan comes with the case. Could you possibly get extras as add ons?

carlikay13 [1 Build] 1 point 5 months ago

yea im ocd and i like to get the same ones that are already in the case everything has to match

repzaj1234 1 point 5 months ago

Last resort would be to simply replace the stock red LED fan.

What fans did you use please?

The H100i will definitely fit in if you use low profile ram, but also depends on the heatsinks around your CPU Here's the link to a build that show it. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=H6lzarZ7quI

cables....is all im gonna say as you know it needs sorting

i understand people who only get on stick on a budget but in a £1100 build you really should be spending the extra £60 to get the ram right away. this kinda leads into my next point, if you aint adding 16gb RAM right away then you casually video edit in that case isnt the i7 a bit much?

on the other hand i will comend you for geting the best you can for your money for the essential compents you can add the SSD and extra RAM next month and the month after so its not all bad. i wownt downvote you but at the same time i wont upvote either message me when you sort the cables out and the RAM
