Description

This is a beast, I use it for gaming and editing, and it plays games like Metro Last Light, BF3, and ArmA 3 on Ultra settings at 1080p. And also I haven't set up the fan controller for the Phantom yet.

Edit - I got a new desk and have the 3 monitors setup, just need an adapter to have the third one working.

Just a little question, why the phantom over the 530?

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 15 months ago

I'm not entirely sure really.

Poseidon2000 3 points 15 months ago

The Phantom's still a really good case, and the 530 just improves on it. So you really didn't lose anything in that. This is a fantastic build.

Thank you very much. I'm proud of it.

Just a question:

Why does it show Sapphires in the pictures, but in the parts list it lists the ASUS model?

I was just wondering because I ordered two of the ASUS models and was wondering what your take on them are. Did you decide on the ASUSes but then decided to go with the Sapphires and not update the parts list?

If so, what was your reasoning?

  • Price?
  • Performance?
  • Availability?

PS, I love your case. I am the proud owner of an all black original Phantom myself. I absolutely adore these cases. My only gripe with it is no stealth mounting options for SSD's, and I could use a few more millimeters of space behind the tray to tuck wires and such.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

I went with it because it was a little bit cheaper and I know Sapphire have really high quality products. I love this case, my old computer can fit inside it as well...

Was trying to figure out why the build cost was so high and lo and behold the PSU is somehow $800 ******* dollars on Amazon.

That mouse pad (tarp) so swag

skemble [19 Builds] 1 point 15 months ago

For once the term beast is properly used. Well done.

EDIT: You might check to see if you get performance differences with one or two CFX bridges. I've heard of people getting weird things with two.

Alright, thanks for the tip, will do.

Are those the Gskill Ripjaws x ram? Im thinking of buying some ram but im not sure if it will it under the havik.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

Yes they are. The outside stick is no problem at all, the inside just has to go in on a weird angle, but it does fit.

talby [9 Builds] 2 points 15 months ago

ah, I see, that may explain your dilemma...

I have 16GB of RAM in the slots, but only 8192MB is showing up

I will bet, getting some low-profile memory will fix that up. Hard to tell without seeing a close-up pic.

hows the 280x's performance? i'm getting the toxic card from sapphire

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

It's really good, getting 100-180 fps in BF3 on Ultra 1080p.

Looks great! Congratulations on an amazing build! :)

Is the 850w PSU holding up well? I have a gold rated 750w PSU, and i'm thinking i need an upgrade before my second MSI R9 280x arrives. I'm curious what I'll need for that crossfire.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

It's doing really good, haven't had any problems with it, and it was easy to setup.

jmanpittsburgh 1 point 14 months ago

Why does it say tiamat and arctosa in the part list but you have the deathstalker and chimera in the picture?

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

The Chimaera isn't available on this sites list, and they were out of Acrtosas so I grabbed a death stalker and didn't feel the need to change it.

Question; Can I take this build? Would it hurt if I can change the tower? Also; would these specs, allow games to be on high settings?

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

I'm not sure what you mean by take it, but if you mean copy, then sure. I don't see any harm in it as long as the new case has enough space. Easily, playing BF4 on Ultra 1080p at 100 fps.

BigMuzzy 1 point 2 months ago

Where dis you get that beast mouse pad?

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 2 months ago

Sorry for the long reply time. I got it at Canada Computers; which is where I got all of it, although they had to order it because they had none in stock. You can get it only from here you just have to use the drop down option and select "Extended" for $39.99

Nice build. I would have like. To seen 760 but I love the build. I also think the the headset can be changed to one with surround sound but a great build.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 14 months ago

I was going to SLI 2 770s but AMD is cheaper and runs most of the games I play better, so I went with it. I use Razer Surround with the headset, so technically it is Surround Sound. It was a great learning experience.

Wayyyyyy off http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778.aspx#physical_memory_limits_windows_7

home premium supports 16, ultimate and pro support 192 gb.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

So, does anyone know why it only shows half the RAM then?

Hakumisoso [2 Builds] 3 points 15 months ago

Dead stick or dead slot is my guess. try moving ram around.

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

alright, will do. Thanks.

zemco999 1 point 15 months ago

It could be because it is in at "an odd angle" try rebooting with only 1 stick. Test both, this will see if you got a RMA to do. If not, it is due to the angle :/

noob_for_life 1 point 14 months ago

have you figured out what was wrong with the ram?

AndroidAssassin [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 14 months ago

Nothing was wrong with the RAM, I was just too stupid to read the package at the store and at home. I only purchased 8 GB. Face palm

noob_for_life 3 points 14 months ago

ahahahahhaha. you were just to excited to build it
