So I had to buy a MacBook Pro for school (film student) and now that I graduated I figured I'd treat myself with a new gaming/HTPC for my living room. So after designing a budget pc that fit my needs within my budget with some pcpartpicker forum members, thank you everyone who helped out, I started buying things gradually.
I originally intended to use my old pcs case, PSU and optical drive. But soon after the new parts starting arriving I realized that that wouldn't cut it.
First came the ram and GPU. Then the motherboard and processor came. Then the SSD, case and DVD drive came. Then lastly the OS and PSU arrived yesterday.
After the OS and PSU arrive it was only about an hour for the pc to be up and running. There were no hiccups with installing either the hardware or software and I'm pretty happy with the set up.
Only two issues, the Optical drive is kinda loud, I did only pay 16$ for it so really I shouldn't complain, and when watching videos from the Internet the video is kinda jumpy. I have a 120hrz tv but my video card only allows for 60hrz on this panel. Idk why. I haven't been able to play a game on it yet so idk if its just an Internet video playback problem or a problem with my pc/monitor set up. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Anyway, thanks for the help guys, this is a sweet set up.
