This is a repost from a while back, I just never got around to taking any pictures. I also apologize for the quality of some of the pics. I'm dealing with an iPhone camera, and in low light, that doesn't always work out so well.
After 10+ years of console gaming, first with an old N64, then GameCube, followed by Playstation 3, I decided to make the switch to PC gaming. Like many, I saw BF3 on a PC in all its 64-player, Ultra graphics glory and couldn't resist. I set out to make a build that while fairly affordable, could still crank out some 1080p Ultra performance. With some clever combo deals and other savvy shopping skills, the total rung in at around $800 with mail-in rebates.
For the most part I think the components complement each other well; no single part is glaringly too fast or too slow for the others. In the future, I hope to make the obvious upgrade to an SSD, and over-clock both the GPU and CPU. After seeing some amazing liquid cooled builds on Reddit, I think I will eventually make the switch to a NZXT Switch 810 (pun unintended) and get a custom loop going with some nice-looking XS-PC hosing, fittings, pump, reservoir and radiator. But for now I'm pretty happy. I get frame rates of around 45-60 (V-sync on) with Ultra settings and FOV and Motion Blur maxed in Battefield 3, just what I was aiming for. In terms of cable management, I think things are as good as they will get on a non-modular power supply (at least in the front) Hopefully I will get a modular PSU sometime down the road, and with it some nice custom sleeved cables.
Thanks PCPartPicker for making everything so easy!
