I clicked the screenshot first, saw the RAM, and nearly spit my drink out.

All said and done... are you planning on adding any additional storage to it? I have a 240SSD for games/os only and it's already almost full.

istealunderwear 9 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

Looked like a heatsink to me lol

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

I do have additional storage, just haven't added it to the site yet ;)

Mincading 12 Builds 10 points 29 months ago

RAMDISK! :D

saw1833 1 Build 3 points 29 months ago

All said and done, based on the rest of your build, I'm expecting like 5 512GB 840 Pros or something. :P

gt40spec 3 Builds 11 points 29 months ago

this is better than my car

IamApropos 3 Builds 2 points 29 months ago

Fancy Build ;) First I think I've seen on here using that Devil 13 7990. Curious of its performance in games such as BF3, and others. Happy gaming!

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

I'll give battlefield 3 a shot, haven't tried it after the never-settle drivers came out

IamApropos 3 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

If youd ever like to talk shop discuss performance or benchmarks, what ever. Feel free to hit me up on my facebook http://www.facebook.com/iamapropos or hit me up on skype IamApropos .. happy gaming.

Though I loved reviewing that article, I'm more interested in his personal performance rather than a professional websites review since I've found that real world testing has proven quite different compared to even the most un bias website reviews. Though for all we know this guy is one of those professional reviewers, with all that ram we could speculate ;) Thanks for sharing =D

TestBuilds 1 point 29 months ago

No problem, and if you ever do anymore personal benchmarks, please share it, I love seeing them.

IamApropos 3 Builds 0 points 29 months ago

Sure thing. =)

xSWATxBadkid 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

Why?

KPeterman098 1 point 29 months ago

Crazy build, man. Why not go for the H110 vs the H100?

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 3 points 29 months ago

This was done some time ago mate, there was no H110. But I'm going custom watercooling soon.

SrgtMacfly 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Wow!! I would have gone with a GTX Titan if you could squeeze the extra 100$ out, although it will not perform as well as the 7990 in games, it will easely surpass it in the video editing and rendering. The keplar architecture and the Cuda cores really accelerate it. Also introduced TXAA and has a whopping 288.4 GBps memory bandwidth!

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 4 points 29 months ago

Again, this was before Titan. Thanks anyway... maybe in some other build ;)

SrgtMacfly 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Ok sorry never knew! Good job on he build really nice!

TestBuilds 1 point 29 months ago

Nice build, and I'm jealous of that RAM!

iiLeGiT101 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

For editing I would've recommended a titan but still... oh my gawd lol this build is a powerhosue!

Stigs 1 point 29 months ago

Awesome build! That 7990 is a beast.

Red_dino 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Epic build. Kind of annoying me how you spent so much money and then got such a small SSD. Nice though. :D

Mincading 12 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

64gb of ram, doesn't that mean 64gb of page file used on Ur ssd as well? (correct me if I'm wrong)

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 29 months ago

as default, yes

Erdubya 2 points 29 months ago

I'm assuming 'default' is the key word there.

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

I changed it, so it pages to other drives

Aura_XP_ 1 point 29 months ago

More pictures please!

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

okay mate, I can do that ;)

swarley 1 point 29 months ago

What is the 64gb of ram for.

Smily 1 point 29 months ago

video editing/rendering

Frostbyter 1 point 29 months ago

Oh my god. This cost more than my used car.

Jimmy 1 point 29 months ago

Damn, is that 5.3 Ghz the highest you have achieved?

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 1 point 29 months ago

Officially, it is the highest validated speed I've clocked. Unofficially there is about another 50 MHz (but it was unstable). I got lucky and got a good chip ;)

Jimmy 1 point 29 months ago

A very good chip lol. I wish I could get that lucky.

OVERKILL MUCH!!!! 64GB of RAM!!!!!!!! Great build but even for editing 64GB is overkill

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 3 points 28 months ago

not for ramdisk its not overkill, I also need a lot of RAM to take full advantage of the 3960x ;)

aragorn98 1 point 28 months ago

Fair enough for video editing. Gaming 16GB is enough

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

Have you been watching 3DGameman?? :p Ramdisk is the keyword here...

ipodjack22 1 point 28 months ago

CAME HERE FROM THE LINUSTECHTIPS STREAM!!!!

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

Cool story BRO ;)

Larry_BOb 1 point 28 months ago

You could easily cut $500 from this build with absolutely no change in performance.

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 2 points 28 months ago

3930k is not fully unlocked ;) +Intel selected the better chips for the xtreme edition. Thats why I went with 3960x.

sethi 1 point 27 months ago

ramdisk?

construction 3 Builds 1 point 25 months ago

Do I Dare say. Cable management.

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Temporary case man ;)

Papajenkinz 1 point 25 months ago

bringtheicecream 1 point 23 months ago

Jozmtr 1 point 18 months ago

How's the WD R3E Doing for you?

leaderroy submitter 1 Build 1 point 17 months ago

They're kinda filled to the brink :/ Imma get 1TB+ SSD when they come down in price.

Ninjadudewhat 1 Build 1 point 13 months ago

Could you plz add pictures of the build itself? Would really like to see it. Completely insane btw, what do u use it for?

The Haf-X is just a temporary case, I just need to find one I like. Ideal case would be: light-weight, have a lot of room for radiators, pumps and reservoars. As for editing I use camtasia studio, probably something better out there but this is a program I know.

Upgrading to a 1,5 TB ssd soon 1,5 gbps read/write

Would you happen to know of any good computer cases? Light-weight and lots of room for radiators. Been looking at this one: http://www.mountainmods.com/CYO_picker.php?casnu=Ascension
