Description

I decided to build a new gaming computer for 2013 the last one I built was in 2010. I made some mods to the Corsair c70 case. Added a new side panel window and painted the outside edges and the front cover of my rad/res combo. For my CPU I overclocked it to 4.4 ghz at 1.2 volts with idle temp at 30c and load temps at 50c. I ran AIDA64 for 8 hours so I think its stable and ran some games with no BSOD. I might increase my clock speed to 4.6 ghz but I don't want my temps to be too high. As for my GPU I haven't done any overclocking yet but I'll get to it on the weekend. Idle temp is 30c. If you guys have any questions feel free to comment. I'll keep you guys updated on the overclocking.

Part List
Details
Intel Core i7-4770K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Clock Rate4.4GHz
CPU Temperature While Idle30.0° C
CPU Temperature Under Load50.0° C

Great job on that rig. One of the better custom watercooling/ casemod builds i have seen.

I have one question, is that a single 240 rad cooling rad cooling the whole thing?

Yeah it's only 1. I'll be getting a second 240 rad once I get my second GTX 780 Hydro Copper classified

Sounds like a plan. Where do you get all this money.

I really like the overall look of the build but (as always) I do have a few niggles. Firstly, I hate ribbed tubing, I think it looks terrible to be blunt. Secondly, it's clear that aesthetics were really important here and because of that I would have got a pack of Corsair's red individually sleeved cables for the PSU. Of course these are minor points that are down to individual taste and the quality of the work is superb so well done on that.

Oh wow didn't even know corsair sold sleeved cables. I was thinking about sleeving some myself but I got lazy. As for the anti kink coils I like them and they also have a purpose.

Can you get 4.5 on all cores?

shortboi2828 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I tried 4.5 ghz at 1.2 volts. It booted but it BOSD when I tried to open a program.

Maybe a little more voltage for a 4.5 overclock. With the custom water cooling I'm pretty sure you could do it and still keep the temps really low. Or maybe you don't have the best chip but who knows.

You can overclock just 1 core if you want to.

Please tell me what that red tubing along the corsair case is called and where you got it. Thats soooo sick!!

shortboi2828 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

It's a modified Corsair C70 case. Tubing is Primochill primoflex tubing(bloodshed red) with Primoflex anti kink coil(black).

Part list tell you the name of the case, it's the C70 Gunmental Black MidTower Case.

I'm using a EVGA GTX 780 Hydro Copper Classified. Pcpartpicker didn't have that as an option.

yea im about to order my build and i just had some second thoughts about somethings. but all the reviews where great and for $266 at 1 ms response time and 144hz also true color. i think its the best choice for gaming.
