This was my first time ever building a pc and the process was pretty painless. The rig is was built to be able to max out any current generation game and to preform "well" while under a heavy editing/rendering load. I went with the SSD boot drive and the 2 TB storage; however, I do not think that I would do this again in the future. The SSD drive slowly "grows" everyday with updates and drivers, and some application do not present you the choice of where you would like to install them (I'm looking at you Adobe Utilities, Microsoft Office, New Skype Version, etc.) The SSD is more of a pain than a blessing. I have yet to overclock the system as I am currently only using the "TurboBoost," but I plan to do so in the near future. My other concern would be with my temperatures. I am currently idling at 40C with the h100i and with all case fans on max. Is this a little high? And if it is, how can I fix the issue.
EDIT: Just ran Prime95 on large FFTs for an hour at I was usually at 70C. Also, on Blend I got an average of 65C. I personally think that this is unacceptable for a water cooler at this low of a frequency(3.9) and voltage(1.2v), so I will be re-applying thermal paste and checking to see that the cooler is working properly. Any recommendations for how to apply thermal paste? Also, do you think having the fans configured as intakes/push is the ideal position for them?
