The blue thing on my desk!

Description

After many days of waiting for my materials i set upon my journey to build the best $550--- computer i could. On the day it came a part of the power button was broken so i had to RMA it. The case is sexy looking, but not very friendly. Its front and top cover are to hell to remove and i felt like i was going to break something... Wanted a case with a side window and had a blue color so i bought 2 blue led fans and stuck them in. Took about 5-6 hours to complete and I find that a great accomplishment being 16.

Don't hate on my cable management, I tried and I ain't trying again...

Pros: -Good CPU and sticker :P (5 stars) -Motherboard had everything i needed -Ram= Okay but it came with a sticker so its AWESOME okay -HDD had nothing wrong with it (5 stars) -GPU is exactly what i wanted, something to play games but not at Ultra Eye-Candy level.. + sticker = (5 stars) -Zalman Z11 came with 4 pre-installed fans and... ya.. its sexy looking? Also Newegg replaced it with free shipping to and from my house. -PSU does what i need and being semi-modular and 80+ certified its good. -Optical drive is incase i ever need one -_- (5 stars) -Monitor is amazing! AND REALLY BIG!

Cons: -Motherboard doesn't really guide very well on adding everything to it(4 stars) -Ram came with cracked case but i think its newegg's fault because they put it on the bottom of the psu -_- (4 stars) -Zalman Z11... oh boy. I like it but i feel like if have to make an upgrade i'd rather shoot myself.. The front cover with the power button cords is poorly designed because of it breaking on me. ALSO its manual is horrible.. I had to look up on youtube on how to take the front cover off.. (2 stars) -PSU is not fully modular which i was disappointed in. (4 stars) -Monitor didn't come with instructions on how to put together(4 stars)

Prices after building: $550 before rebates ($515 after MIB) $135 Monitor $100 Win7 OEM $7 shipping

TOTAL: $792

You're cable management is fine. It's not restricting any airflow so I see no problem. To make it more aesthetically pleasing I would have used some blue ram, but that's just cause I'm picky.

$7 shipping o_O ? Here in Aus you'd be looking at >$100...

Amazing my friend, simply amazing. How does it do on gaming? And do you think it would be necessary for those extra fans, or do you think it would get good airflow without them? Very impressive build, though.

haven't played any games. Wanted to build to become more into PC gaming I think the two extra fans would help but mainly for me it was for the blue factor. The side fans dont do much.

If you list some things that you want and need. Ex: want 1tb HDD or need win7 Also what it be used for?

whatthepatty 1 point 23 months ago

so, this is for homework, recording, starcraft 2, crysis 2 and other fps's. I need win7 because i do not have the version that you can transfer and 1tb HDD is to store all the games and video's, also because i want to make this build last long.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/kUku Try to go for these parts. Look out for deals on newegg to get as cheap as you can

whatthepatty 1 point 23 months ago

thanks! I took both yours and sugadaddy's advice and made this, remember i still have that budget.

jfree232 1 point 23 months ago

for an extra $10 go with the 3rd gen i3 3220

sandy [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 23 months ago

Do you already have a HDD? If so then go with what jfree said and get a 3220

whatthepatty 1 point 23 months ago

I dont have a HDD so do i go with the 3220 or stay with the 2130 because if I go with the 3220 then it will go over my budget. Unless you can use a laptop HDD with a desktop.

MrCanadianAviator [1 Build] 1 point 23 months ago

You should be able to. Depends of the size of the drive.

sandy [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 23 months ago

How about this.. you save more money for the HDD because let's face it... You want to have this build for a couple years right? Save some extra cash till the holidays and then buy. That's my opinion... Google if you can use a laptop HDD cause I an unsure.

whatthepatty 1 point 23 months ago

or could i just wait until boxing day and get the parts? Thanks far the help anyway!

Really nice build from what I can tell, would you or anyone look at my profile and look at my saved builds and tell me if that build is good or not? You're welcome to message me. This will be my first build.

sandy [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 23 months ago

I made this build for your budget : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/lecV

-Order from Newegg to get some parts that Amazon doesn't offer/are cheaper. -SSD was because you said you had a 1tb hdd -Your budget is low but you can throw a A10-5800k to get 40+ fps on those games you want to play -The ram has to be a high ddr3 to optimize the APU -If you need a gpu get a 6670

Hope this helped :D

ArkAngel_X 1 point 23 months ago

^^ this. AMD APUs DOMINATE when it comes to built-in gaming graphics. yet if wanting to do any video encoding the APU's aren't that great as any Intel i5K or i7K series will easily blow them away.

Your monitor's feet are backwards... I have the exact same monitor.

sandy [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

Whatever.. It'll keep it from tipping over backwards.
