Description

This rig will be used for streaming games via twitch.tv. It will also be used for Photoshopping, video editing, 3D rendering, producing music and what ever else I might need. I have yet to run it due to the memory being special ordered and the CPU cooler I want no being released till the end of this month. I will update it once everything is up and running. Another part installed is a AVerMedia Capture HD card used for streaming games and screen capture. Its installed on my current running PC.

What CPU cooler are you going to use?

Stoopid 3 points 17 months ago

INSANE BUILD I too am curious as to what cooler will be used.

Wow, I'm jealous.

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 17 months ago

Going with a swiftech H220.Comes out at the end of the month.

Oliver [4 Builds] 4 points 17 months ago

Why not just wait until the 900D came out, your waiting for the CPU cooler anyway!

brigittebeau [1 Build] 3 points 17 months ago

That's $120 more though... but with the price of the build, I can see it fitting in there. I'm wondering if a 690 would've been a better choice.

Booth21209 1 point 17 months ago

IMO, a 690 is more of a luxury product as opposed to a practical solution. You are putting two very powerful and expensive GPUs on one extremely heavy PCB that is prone to warping if it does not have a bracket. Also,if one of the GPU's decides to fail you cannot really replace it. A dual 680 setup just seems more practical. There are just too many variables that could end up costing $1k and that price could be cut in half with two cards.

"...prone to warping...". Please, enlighten us on GTX-690-warping horror stories.

Mobo seems a tad OP, more expensive than the processor. Other than that, sweet build!

thechump121 3 points 17 months ago

wait and get a titaaaaannnnnn!

Assassinator99PC 3 points 16 months ago

For your cpu cooler why did you pick the Corsair H100 instead of the Corsair H100i?

bgiunt4 2 points 17 months ago

dude.. that disk drive sucks. you need to spend AT LEAST 800 for a decent one. hahah nice build!

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

They are pretty sick when in raid 0 :)

bgiunt4 1 point 17 months ago

I meant the optical drive... my bad STILL!! YOU NEED TO SPEND MOAR MONAY :P

Smily 1 point 17 months ago

This build not only has great parts, but it's also built well and has great cable management. Great job, it must've taken a lot of killing to get enough money for those parts.

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

LOL.. only thing killed is time at work. Im spending extra time with wire management.

miniclipgamer [2 Builds] 1 point 17 months ago

For that price, I'd have gone with the i7 3970X, but its all pretty much the same. Otherwise, I'd agree with the title.

synestir 1 point 17 months ago

only thing i see overkilled is that PSU, good god

jwgator 1 point 17 months ago

Very nice build!! I noticed that you have the 4gb EVGA 670 FTW editions in your part list, but have the 2gb FTW editions included in your picture? I only noticed since I have the 2gb FTW editions in my SLI build & they have the same box. Maybe you made a typo when you chose the parts in the list?

benjaminmaysell [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

Haha overkilled your wallet!

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 17 months ago

You should really consider a good soundcard to go with this for producing music. Like the Xonar Essence or Sound Blaster ZXR.

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

The motherboard has a great sound card built in.. I took that into consideration added a sound card but found this board and removed it from my list and used the money towards something else.

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

Quick question guys.. my memory comes in today..I want to get this thing up and running already.. should I get a corsair H100i or wait for the swifttech h200?

Im getting antsy. .errr lol

thechump121 1 point 17 months ago

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 17 months ago

Darthsat [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Why does it look like you have an SLI EVGA 670 FTW in one picture, but then a SLI EVGA 670 non-FTW in another picture?

kill4cash [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

I picked up the 2gb version by mistake, then went out and picked up the 4gb version later on..

candy [3 Builds] 1 point 15 months ago

What RAM coolers are you using in picture 2?

sethi 1 point 14 months ago

this build could NOT have had a better title

ItsJxzza 1 point 13 months ago

I thought this was a bit overkill but then again still reasonable.

I'm glad to find you are very good at cable management as I would hate to see so much money go too waste to be ruined, beautiful build. 5 star!

bencs25 1 point 12 months ago

That motherboard.

elricky 1 point 10 months ago

dat chair.

rydog 1 point 10 months ago

IMO you should add about a bigger hard drive maybe about 1TB or 2, for junk files and such. 480 GB can go pretty fast, or maybe thats just me ;)

brelovix 1 point 7 months ago

:o!!! That ******* setup! I had to fap one out after seeing these pics!

BlastXin 1 point 10 days ago

OK = overkill now next upgrade will be the gpu! That underkill :p
