Blue Phantom

This is the first computer I've ever built. I am primarily going to use for gaming as well as day to day tasks. After a ton of research I picked all my parts and then watched some Youtube videos on how to assemble everything haha. I was worried that something wouldn't work but after a few hours of building everything worked great! I really love how it turned out. The black case and blue lights really look sweet. I haven't gotten to test it much yet but I did play some LoL on max settings and it ran perfectly.

CPU - I went with AMD because of all you get for the price. I didn't see much of a difference in the benchmarks that I saw so I wen't with the cheaper option. Plus I have an AMD now and it's been great to me.

CPU Cooler - Got for a good price on ebay, in case I want to overclock later on.

Motherboard - Research said that it was a good motherboard for my CPU. I didn't want to get a cheap motherboard and then put a good CPU in it, seemed like a waste.

Memory - Pretty much one of the cheapest 8gb ram I could find. Got it on sale. Don't need anything more then 8gb. Plus it's blue to match!

Storage - 1TB is more than enough for me. I wasn't going to put a SSD in but I found this one for a great price on ebay, brand new, and I figured I might as well get it to put the OS on.

Video Card - This came as a combo with something else from newegg so I decided to save some money and get it. Obviously I researched if it was a good card and I didn't find anything bad about it.

Case - I really love how this case looks. I know there a much cheaper ones but oh well.

PSU - Once again, came with a combo on newegg and I didn't find anything bad about it. Good price for a 700w and that should be plenty for me. Too bad it wasn't modular but the wires weren't too hard to hide.

Optical Drive - Cheap and works.

OS - Windows 7 because I don't really like 8.

Overall this cost me about $900 after a boat load of rebates lol. Everything went smoothly as far as building goes. It was really fun to do and I'll probably build all of my computers in the future now too. Let me know what you all think and if you have any questions! Thanks.

Is that shelf built into the wall for your pc? I need that....

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 8 points 11 months ago

Yes it is =), I actually just build that with cheap $20 table top from ikea and a couple $2 shelf brackets from home depot.

j0e652 [1 Build] 2 points 11 months ago

Brilliant +1 just for that

istealunderwear [9 Builds] 2 points 11 months ago

-1 for the Xbox...

Just kidding, awesome build, great cost efficiency here, I don't know much about the Rosewill Power supply, I heard they were getting better than 4-5 years ago where it was a no go tier 4-5 psu.

+1 for the awesome build, and nice table and pc shelf. Awesome battlestation.

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Haha thanks. If it makes it any better I'd get a PS4 as my next console if I end up getting one.

istealunderwear [9 Builds] 4 points 11 months ago

Just don't get a console, it's just not worth.

Where did you get the lights from though? They look awesome inside the case

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 9 months ago

Sorry for late reply. I got the lights from http://www.xoxide.com/coldcathodes.html. They have a lot of sizes of the cold cathode lights. Only a slight easy modification and you don't have to use the switch they come with and they will just turn on with the computer.

GuessWhat [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Damn that case looks sexier than advertised. You got some pretty good deals.. I hate being in Canada, especially Quebec.. We get the worst prices of all.

Cable management looks great. +1

DragonForge 2 points 4 months ago

Come to Australia. ;)

ts2fe 1 point 3 months ago

Tell me about it.. Australia has the crappiest prices.

DragonForge 1 point 3 months ago

Unfortunately, yes. :/

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Yeah I love the case! I think I did well with getting good prices, still have yet to receive the rebate cards but that's to be expected. Thanks for the input!

18hockey [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

very similar to my build! Love it +1

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks. I like your build too. I was considering getting the white case instead, both look really nice.

18hockey [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Any Phantom 410 is nice looking. (Personally I think they're the nicest looking cases on the market, but that might be a bit biased :P)

RyneSmith [7 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

Awesome setup, the color scheme/case look great and that shelf on the wall looks awesome +1 my friend!

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I really love your white/red color scheme as well...looks so well done. Plus the accent lights on the table and the mouse/keyboard match.

cooperred [2 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

That is one amazing setup... great build too!

What keyboard and mouse are you using?

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I'm using a Logitech M510 mouse and a HP Wireless Elite keyboard v2. Nothing too fancy.

Hellvaguy [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Great looks and top notch cable management. However, that psu is super lame, no way around it. Worse case scenario, a bottom end psu like that has the potential to damage some of your components down the road, besides being pretty inefficient.

Anyways, overall nice work!

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks! Yeah the PSU is probably the worst part about it. Hopefully it won't cause any problems, definitely won't be adding anything more to it.

Goobitaga 1 point 11 months ago

Dang! This is such a nice build. Those blue lights look so nice with the Gunmetal case! I thought this was going to come out to a lot more than just under $1,000. How are the parts working out for you? Anything you regret buying?

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I love the way the gunmetal/blue look together. I'm really happy with the deals I got on everything. Everything works great! Nothing I regret getting, though if I did it again I might go with a little more high end psu.

Goobitaga 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks! I appreciate the respond. I am going to get the exact build! Haha

bcalvert12 [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

That looks sick man, better than my first 410 did, haha, clean setup!

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks! I like the case that you picked for yours too. I was considering getting that one, looks really clean.

KingLames 1 point 11 months ago

Dude, that's a sick build. Looks like a spaceship.

bstranger [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Might need to see if you are letting enough heat escape the back end of your case. +1

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

I do have a good 4 inches between the computer and the back wall. I also drilled holes in shelf that it's sitting on for some extra air flow. Thanks for the input!

CHEEFxKWEEF [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

well done friend, cable management of a surgeon!

gerryisawesome 1 point 10 months ago

Hey could you post the videos that helped and guided you to putting together this piece of art?

Shnoon [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 9 months ago

Hey sorry for the late reply. The videos I used were from CareyHolzman on youtube, he does a bunch of really detailed build videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDxT8bSR3co Good luck!

gerryisawesome 1 point 9 months ago

It's no big deal. Thank you!

magemune11991 1 point 8 months ago

Yo is that motherboard seedy or what.

NikoNole 1 point 8 months ago

the lion is majestic af...the build is also majestic :0

DeivydasX 1 point 7 months ago

Awesome color you had picked up for the case. +1

BenPSkinner 1 point 7 months ago

Nice chair +1

aas713 [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

What kind of cold cathode lights are those?

Oh, man. You're doing exactly what I wanted to do with the Gunmetal case - blue and grey are gorgeous. But all my components are turning out red or black (grumble). I'm glad building went smoothly for you!
