As the title may suggest, this is my first PC build. My purpose for it was (and still is) to game with it, and was a supreme upgrade from an intel core 2 duo E7300, 9500GT build that died about a month ago. And 2 months after I completed this, buyer's remorse starts to kick in. As such, i'll list my initial justifications for my parts.
-AMD FX-6300 I actually don't have any qualms with my choice in cpu, it's adequate for whatever I find myself doing, and it was cheap.
-ASUS M5 99FX Pro R.2 My initial thoughts were "CROSSSSSFIRRRRRE, YOOOOO" but now, I realize how I could have bought a cheaper board that still does crossfire, and upgrade my graphics card to a 7850 at the same time. I'd still like to do X-Fire, but I'd have to drop $200-$300 to make it happen.
3.Graphics Card -MSi Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition Like I said, I really wanted to try out X-Fire in my build, and the PC Part Picker page said it was compatible, but when i got it, I learned otherwise, and was vastly disappointed. I also eventually learned that if I had bought a cheaper motherboard, i could have bought a 7850 for around the same total price
4.Power Supply -Cooler Master i600 600w PSU I also stand my my decision on the PSU. It was $20 off with my CPU, and it left PLENTY of headroom for expansion and overclocking.
5.Memory -Wintec One 8GB DDR3-1600 It was quite cheap for when I bought it, but I regret being so impatient. The performance is just what you'd expect from DDR3-1600 memory, but the only qualm I have with it is the fact that the spreaders kept falling off, and it looks rather ugly.
6.Case -Raidmax Atlas ATX-295-WB This case seemed like it was too good to be true to 2-months-younger me. it was 25$ on Newegg, and it looked to have enough room for all the cable management I wanted. Although it's quite spacious, things are still quite cramped. Other than that, I'm still quite happy with it.
7.Storage -Spare HDDs I had them in an old build my dad never got to work, and he gave them to me.
Although I feel I could have done a much better job planning this build, I'm still really happy with it. Once I get get some money stored up, I'll think about buying a 7850 or two, an aftermarket cooler, an FX-8350, an SSD, and some more RAM for server hosting. Throughout the build, I learned loads of things, and I really look forward to my next build.
