First build

Chose the wrong keyboard. I have a custom keyboard that wasn't available on the list, but it's the same price / switch type. Also couldn't find my special edition graphics card, but it's the exact same specs as the one I chose in my build. (I have the DiRT 3 Edition). As well for the monitors, I don't know exactly the ones I have but they're the same price as the ones I chose. I got a lot of the parts on boxing day and I got a lot of the parts on sale. My friend was also nice enough to give me a copy of W7 for free (: . In total, ended up spending around $1300 on the whole thing. Sorry about the dust; I haven't cleaned it in a while.

Love the 650D. . . makes cable management almost fun.

Love the wall paper with the dual monitors, for some reason that caught my attention more than anything else LOL, decent build, and hey, it's what you wanted (and could afford) and it's at your expert level for a first time build, so good job on it, and the specs are nice. Good cable management. You've learned from this and if you plan to build a next one, it'll be even better

This isn't budget at all LOL

Yeah I just realized that LOL. I renamed it haha

Chasab 2 points 23 months ago

I would have gotten a cheaper keyboard and gone with an FX-8350 personally

Fastmaster7 1 point 23 months ago

Yes Chasab has a point, piledriver is a considerable improvement over bulldozer

IIRC the reason why I got the bulldozer was because it was on sale. I think I saved like $50 on it. Got it from Canada Computers.

Honestly, this build could use some work. You got two monitors but you are using an outdated card. Not that the card is horrible, but it probably wont give you high fps if you play games on high settings using both monitors. If it were me, I would've gotten rid of one of the monitors and got an XFX Radeon 7950. I would've dropped the liquid cooler, got an Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, and used the money I saved on the H100 to get a fx-8350. Either way it's not a bad build, but for your price, you could've gotten better performance.

I don't think you can play games on just two monitors, I believe it needs to be 3 or 6 monitors for a surround gaming setup. Unless he is multi-boxing on WoW or some other MMO I do not see the second monitor being used for gaming because it will just cut the screen down the middle and he will end up staring at the border between monitors during a game. Even if he is multi-boxing though, MMOs tend to not be very graphics intensive. So, the second monitor won't really impede performance in games. This also means his graphics card will be fine as well. Other than that, I agree with getting rid of the H100 for an FX-8350. It's just that it does not really matter now, he might as well just upgrade when steamroller comes out.

I use one monitor for a game, and the other for skype, steam chat, foobar playlist, chrome, etc.

Thanks for your opinion. But tbh it's more of a home/personal machine as opposed to a hardcore gaming machine. Yeah, I do play games from time to time, I'm okay with not having max settings. That being said, this was my first time and I'll be sure to look out for these kind of things in the future. (Keeping my dual monitors though. I love them c: )

Haha yea, I had just thought it was for gaming. Considering you're not a hardcore gamer, it should do you just fine. I'm gonna build my first pc soon, and I have all the parts chosen.. it's f*king overkill! XD Yea but still, it's nice to know that you enjoy your build.
