Note: These are the prices I bought the parts for, I had about around $90 in rebates! Furthermore, I purchased this during Black Friday sales, so prices were considerably lower than usual
Part comments: I plan to use this machine mainly for 3D gaming, such as battlefield, etc.
Most of the parts I can't tell wether they are good or not, since this is my first build. The RAM, CPU, Graphics Card, HDD, Keyboard, Monitor, and Wireless Adapter are all working perfectly.
ASRock Z77 Extreme4 was a pretty good board, however, as a first time builder, it was VERY confusing about where to plug in case cables. I had to search online where to plug in power LEDS, power switch, etc. I initially thought that you had to pull off the "Smart switches" from the power button, but everything went into the system header.
The case was well built, and I liked the tool-less hard drive bays. Everything comes off with thumbscrews and the other screws in the case were well labeled for distinction. The only problem was that cable management was hard without rubber gromits, etc.
The power supply was non-modular. While it didn't really get in the way too much, I consider it a mistake. Very good power supply otherwise, however.
I bought a wireless adapter because i play many online, multiplayer games and watch streams, videos, and etc.
Note: I received a free Battlefield 4 mousepad with my purchase from newegg.
I did not buy an aftermarket CPU cooler, because i don't play on overclocking much. Also, i did not bother with a SSD. If i were to expand this build i would definitely buy some more case fans, a CPU cooler, an SSD, and a microphone or something.
The Asus GTX 660 stopped accepting NVIDIA drivers, so i got a refund and went for the same Asus graphics card model with a Radeon 7870 chip. It works perfectly.
Comments on cable managements would be appreciated, i tried to do the best i could with zipties. Also, is that just me, or does the PCI-express power cable connected to the graphics card really out of place?
