Description

Parts were bought new from stores or used from forums/kijiji/craigslist. New: 3570k, mobo, HDD, NZXT Hue, Silverstone extensions. Used: H100i, ram, 280x, 650D, HX650.

  • The hard drive came with a prebuilt (yuck) computer I got around 3 years ago before I got super interested in computers.

  • Bought the 3570k and mobo around two years ago when I decided to start getting parts for a custom build.

  • Bought the ram around two years ago when ram prices were normal lower.

  • Recently (around two or three months) I have been into the aesthetics of my build. It was around this time that I decided to go with a black and white themed build. The last picture is what my build looked like when I first built it.

  • Bought the 650D off of Kijiji two months ago. Not my number one favourite case, but I definitely like it.

  • Bought the NZXT Hue around the same time from a store. Used to have only blue leds, but I am enjoying the customizability.

  • Got the H100i off of the Redflagdeals forums a month ago and had it shipped with the SP120s and stock fans for $65.

  • Bought the Silverstone extensions off of NCIX a couple weeks ago. Really like how they look but I cannot get the 24 pin to look orderly for the life of me. I'll probably try some more later on.

  • Bought the 280x off of Kijiji. I really like how a single triple slot gpu looks compared to a single dual slot. Also, love the backplate.

  • Lastly, got the HX650 yesterday locally for $50.

I spray painted the ram, Corsair fan rings, and PCI brackets white to match the build. Also, added white electrical tape to the H100i tubes. The PSU shroud is made from illustration board that I cut, bent, and spray painted black. The white lines on the shroud are also electrical tape.

Next change would be to get an SSD for sure. I'm trying to find one for a steal of a price.

btw I got the desk for $9 at a garage sale and the left monitor for $35.

This looks really nice, I never would have guessed electrical tape so you get a +1 for the very clean build and for the ingenuity of it all haha

Killeneminem [3 Builds] 1 point 4 months ago

It looks sexy, I've never considered electrical tape for decor... Some red electrical tape would have made my build cheaper...

delpo [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 4 months ago

Haha yeah, I originally wanted to paint the shroud with white but I didn't have any painter's tape so the lines wouldn't have come out clean. I really like how the electrical tape is a little glossy but doesn't look out of place.

What did you use to paint the SP's and such? Like what type of paint?

delpo [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 4 months ago

A white spray paint for plastics
