Description

Built this computer on a budget $1000 (which I went a little over). I built it for gaming and running various programs. Going for the typical red/black color scheme which I thought came out really nice. I feel like the images don't do this build justice :). Anywho, I'm currently playing BF4, LoL, LFD2, CS, and other games on this beast. Bought 2 disk drives to burn cds for my dad. Overall I am very happy with the build, the only thing that disappoints me was the i5-4670k, I can't seem to overclock it to 4.5ghz without going over 1.3v, I just leave it at a 4.2 ghz at 1.2v. If someone can tell me I can't go to at least 4.5 ghz, I'd be grateful :). I think it's the mobo(got it from a friend, it has sticky residue and I can't seem to remove it) but I'm not too sure. Other notes, I feel like upgrading my 21 inch ativa moniter to 27 inch 1440p moniter when I have the dough. Forgot to take a picture of it with my ram(last picture), will do it when I have better lighting ;)(it's 3 am right now). If anyone can tell me what I can do to improve my build please don't hesistate to comment.

How do you like that case? I'm thinking of using it myself. +1 from me!

I love this case, I was surprised by the size even though I did the measurements, but this thing is a beauty.

Yeh that overclocking problem is probably the mobo. Anyway could you tell me what date this was built on? I feel like a 270x Hawk wouldve been better..

DivineFlames [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

very recently, I finished like a week ago ;) I think 270x is like a 7950 and a 280x is a 7970. No problems with the gpu. I'll check to see if the mobo is really the problem. Thank you

As I said, Haswell doesn't have the greatest track record for overclocking. I doubt that your mobo is to blame for it.

DrFrostSickle 1 point 12 months ago

Thats not exactly true.. 4670ks and 4770ks are some of the msot reliable cpus for ocing in all of intel let alone haswell.

ESPM400 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Well, aside from the fact that they've only been out for about six or so months, I wasn't bashing their reliability, just their overclockablity.

EDIT: Note to self: read entire comment before posting... Haswell is notably random with overclocking. I'll see if I can find some justification for you.

Lol i just read this then almost posted b4 the edit. Anyway would love a good site or something with the reasons and such.

Sorry, dealing with one helluva hangover. You'll need to wait a couple hours for the results...

Haswell is known for it's hit-or-miss overclocking. I only managed 4.5MHz with my 4670K. Don't feel too bad about it.

DivineFlames [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

oh man only 4.5mhz i think you should check up on that. All jokes aside, thanks, I don't really care for the going over 4.3 ghz it's just annoying to know you got a dud :O

ESPM400 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

4.5MHz might be higher than yours, but I still get the same feeling when I see higher clocks.

DivineFlames [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

No, I just saying you meant 4.5ghz lol

ESPM400 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Ah, whoops...

gunnereilola [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

How is the headset

DivineFlames [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

It's decent, I feel like I should've gone for the G930 since it's wireless. It gets kinda annoying if you have glasses, because you don't feel like putting on contacts lol. But without the glasses it's pretty comfortable, I would give it a 4.5 :D

gunnereilola [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Since I don't wear glasses, and I dislike wireless things, they sound pretty good

ESPM400 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

I was in a similar boat until recently. Just got a set of Sony Implosion cans and couldn't be happier with them.

gunnereilola [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Disliking wireless boat?

ESPM400 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Yeah (that and the not wearing glasses, I guess), but as I said, couldn't be happier with my wireless Implosions.
