Description

My post when I first built Shadow is here

All of the new parts

  • Asus GTX 780
  • Corsair AF140 Fans x3
  • Corsair SP120 Fan
  • NZXT Hue
  • Corsair ax760 +sleeved cables
  • CM Quickfire TK w/ blue switches

From my first post

"I really wish I had gone with a fully modular psu but this build started out as a budget build. I'm currently saving to upgrade to a 7950, modular PSU, some sleeved cables to go with it, and probably and NZXT Hue."

As you can see I did get the NZXT Hue, and a fully modular psu with sleeved cables, but I went with a 780 instead because why not :).

The gtx 780 is an absolute dream, very nice quality, and the back plate is a nice touch. Overclocked to 1248 mhz core easy and could go higher but it gets a little hot sadly. Eats everything on 1080p as expected.

The ax 760 does have a little coil whine as I had been reading before I bought it, but it is only audible when I put my ear right next to it. Other wise the psu and cables are very nice and worth the purchase.

The NZXT was probably the best thing I could have gotten for $30. Range of colors and modes, the lights can get very bright. I have no complaints on it.

I bought the new fans because the stock ones in the r4 were silent, but didn't move air at all, so I grabbed the corsair fans to match my scheme and move more air. They are still quiet but move way more air.

The quickfire tk is the lowest priced back lit board I could fine, but is still of immaculate quality. It is very sturdy and only has a little bend due to its metal backplate. The leds have the perfect glow and the click on the keys is very nice. It has media keys and different brightness levels and modes. I think its the best board I could have gotten for my first mechanical.

As always a build is never complete. I'm still planning to upgrade to 1440p to really show off the 780's power, and an ssd. When I can get a job in the summer, I'm planning on a custom loop as well.

Thanks. Sadly the only thing planned in the NEAR future is a 1440p monitor. This summer the good stuff should come (ssd and water cooling)

Nice build. It looks like you video card is sagging a lot. Check to make sure the cables arent pulling, but its probably just the weight of the card. Nice job. +1

Looks nice! That keyboard has been on my wish list. I think I would prefer the MX brown version with the blue being a close second. How do you like it?

It's great. I may actually be selling it soon though, nothing against it, but I'm looking for red now. So i'll either just get the red version of this or the corsiar k70

I love the red sleeves, and their nice and solid. What brand sleeves did you go with, and what site did you purchase them on?
