Description

And sorry this was posted from my iPhone which is where the pics came from also So I went from an intel core II duo running at 2.4 with 2 gig 533Mhz ram and an agp GPU to this This rig will be used almost exclusively for gaming with a lil bit of web browsing thrown in This was my first build and I haven't even looked at computer hardware in years ... Was still in the IDE flat ribbon cable mentality. Well here are my choices and why I chose what I did .

CPU.... Went with the 4670k because I really didn't need an i7 would've been a waste if money to go any higher

CPU Cooler..... Have heard many great things about the CM hyper 212 evo and that was my first choice but I forgot to order it and the local tigerdirect didn't have it in stock so I went with the 212+

Motherboard ..... Wanted to stick with the black and red color scheme and from the reviews this was a decent MoBo for the price

RAM..... well it's corsair and it matches so well

Memory..... Def knew I wanted a ssd wish I woulda gotten a bigger one but .... Always room for another and the Samsung came highly recommended and a 1TB WD black for random stuff

GPU ....originally started the build with a sapphire radeon R9 280x vapor-x but I received a defective one and not wanting to wait any longer I again went to the local tiger direct and picked up a evga gtx770 which does me just fine The Case .... What can I say about the case but it is awesome .... But I am needing to change out the blue power and hdd signal lights for red ones

PSU ....gold rated have heard good things about XFX and fully modular again a no brainer Bunch of case fans

windows 7 because it is closer to XP that I was used to And a Blu ray optic drive .... Cause why not

You probably could have gotten a better GPU if you didn't spend $120 on fans.

JTGG98 1 point 7 months ago

he already got one of the best gpus available that's not insanely expensive...

Zeus [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

The money he could have potentially saved would have compensated mostly for the price tag of something like a 780.

Very clean. I love the look of the white case. Great choice of parts. Have you done any benchmarks 3dmark 11? I am just curious what those scores look like.

mikeelle [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

actually i have ran it ....just dont know how to post results

You just input the numbers yourself. Its on the right side of the screen when editing your build. What are your scores? You can see mine on my build page.

fnapoli [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

yes this caught my eye as well, any idea why? I'm still new to building.

mikeelle [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 7 months ago

basically for the looks and didnt want any led fans in the case

Buttery [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

Is it weird I ordered nearly the same parts yesterday for my build, without ever seeing your build? http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/2c72c

I was thoroughly impressed with all the parts besides the sapphire r9 280x vapor x which came defective .... But can't hold too much against them ..... Isht happens

DrFrostSickle 1 point 7 months ago

From what ive heard sapphire r9s are EXTREMELY unreliable which is why i just bought my new 270x Hawk from msi

Oh lol I didn't even notice you were using the 280x. I saw a 770 in your parts list and thought it was creepy how close the two lists were.

mikeelle [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

The 770 replaced a defective 280x vapor-x which was no longer in stock

Rajid 2 points 7 months ago

Probably not, you know what they say "Great minds think alike." :P

Well done on the cable management! How are you finding those fans? I'm looking at them to replace the fans in my Hadron when I get it.

mikeelle [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

Fans are extremely quiet can barely hear them running .... Compared to my last tower that sounded like a rocket ship taking off

Jrobbm [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

I just love this build. The Cables even when hidden are Sublime. Lovely, I have the Hue Also, its so simple but effective. It looks Great.

Its inspired me to take my rig to pieces and re-do my cables and replace my fans.

  1. The Phantom 410 comes with 3 fans, that work fine. I have the case, I know.
  2. There's such a thing called snipping tool so you don't have to take pics of your screen
  3. Why did you go for that RAM when there are other more suitable option for a cheaper price.

mikeelle [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 7 months ago

I understand the fans that came with the case work fine .... But I really wanted this to be MY build

Yeah I was new to windows 7 so I needed to figure it out

And the ram matched and I'm not gonna say money wasnt tight ... It was and I went over my original budget by far ... Especially with all new peripherals But hopefully this will last me for quite some time
