Description

I decided to make a build for gaming and I finally went (mostly) all out. It was my first time building a computer unassisted, and I have never done any sort of cable management.

Overall It has turned out great. Every game I've tried runs flawless at max settings. It's super quiet and seems to have no problem keeping cool. My only issue is with the dual monitors. I should have spent the extra $30 to get dual acer IPS monitors. Having the IPS next to the regular monitor is tough because the colors really pop out on the IPS, and the regular monitor seems dull.

Speakers are also noticeably scratchy. You get what you pay for. I'm not an audiophile and I don't really notice it without listening for it, but better speakers and a sound card would definitely make things sound better.

Overall I'm very happy with this build.

Edit: After the suggestions by other users I flipped the PSU over and also improved on my cable management. See updated photo.

You should flip your PSU, you're stealing air from the GPU!

Good build otherwise

There were no instructions for the case or the PSU! I figured the fan facing a wall wouldn't make sense. Is it in wrong?

Norm101 3 Builds 5 points 23 months ago

It pulls air in from that fan and pushes it out the back. Flipping it means it is pulling cool air from below the case and allowing the GPU to get fed cool air from the rest of the case instead of having the two components fight for air.

Got it, I will flip the PSU. Thanks for the heads up!

Try to neaten up the cables a bit. Nice build though.

JaredNC submitter 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

The yellow cable was too short to filter through the back, and the large cable was so close I didn't try. All the other cables are filtered through the back to allow maximum air flow.

You should be able to get the 24 pin through the back. You should get a EPS extension like this one to route it through the back.

Oh you know I actually have some of those that came with the PSU. I'll fix the wiring when I flip the PSU. Thanks!

I redid the cables and uploaded a new photo. Let me know what you think now.

A lot better, nice job.

I would suggest you drop in a second 770 sometime in the future. They pull about 250Watts each, plus 100Watts from the CPU and an extra 100 to cover everything else, and you're not even close to maxing out your PSU.

Go for it!

That's the plan!

Awesome build! Why the SSD though? Toshiba???

JaredNC submitter 1 Build 3 points 23 months ago

The Toshiba SSD + 3TB Disk drive together was under $200 because of sales/combo discounts.

I have a Toshiba HDD (and WD) in my build that I got cheap at MicroCenter. I've not had any problems with it. :)

Ahh I see, good thing you grabbed that deal! Enjoy your build

pst. you over there! IMPROVE THE CABLE MANAGEMENT! your case has grommets. use them. ALL OF them. and your psu is backwards. otherwise, great build.

See updated photo. How's it look now?

How's the mouse treating you? I've been looking into buying a cheap but reliable mouse. Love the build man!

JaredNC submitter 1 Build 1 point 19 months ago

Mouse is amazing.

IS the keyboard any good?
