Wireless Network Adapter
IT'S FINALLY DONE!!!!! So happy with how this turned out! It took a while to get the parts fabricated, ordered, and shipped, but I feel it was well worth it.
This makes my wallet cry with sadness, but my eyes cry with joy <3
Looks good, more pics tho! :)
Thanks, sorry but no more pics until it's done, consider it a teaser :P.
i masturbated to this
this seems like a "price is not an option" build. why the 3570k? and holy mother of storage lol. other than the cpu I love the build
Price isn't an option was the motto of the build yes, but it's all with logic. I got dual titans because the monitor I have (it isn't the dell, yamakasi catleap 2b)overclocks to 120hz and I want to average around 120 fps.
Thanks for the comments bud.
i hate your logic lol. jp i do love this build though, i run a 3570k and love it
Glad to see one of the monster builds. Looks gorgeous, especially with that sleeving. What brand is that exhaust fan?
Thanks buddy, sleeving is courtesy of Reddit Build a PC's Jappetto, look him up sometime, awesome guy.
As for the fans, they're noiseblocker eloops, not listed on pcpp right now because it isn't on their retailers.
Wow, looks great, and for that price point it should be! I love the cable management and how the cables match the color theme.
Those 2 titans are looking good!
Will look muuch better when my midplate is done. Keep your eyes peeled for an update in the coming weeks.
Monster on the storage. awesome build.
wow, two Titans with a 3570K. i was honestly half-expecting a 3930K thrown in somewhere. what's this for, heavy-duty CUDA rendering?
1440p 120hz gaming, media center. No need for i7/x79
sounds like a plan. can't wait to see it with the midplate. awesome cable sleeving and lighting done, too. even before the more pictures, this still deserves my +1 :)
One question why go with a titan sli? but then a 3570k? Not that the 3570k is bad, but if you're going to go with overkill or powerfull, then finish it off?
because for gaming beyond i5 yields almost no performance benefits.
I know, but if that was the case then why go with a 2x titans rather then a 780
A) 780 wasn't out at the time B) I'm already hitting 3gb vram on some titles @ 1440p.
Yea, that's true. Well Played Sir, I think I was speaking out of jealousy but enjoy them monsters.
Seen alot of kingwin PSU's lately, how's it holding up for you?
Fantastic tbh. Don't like the cables much but I use extensions. It's a seasonic rebrand.
It is? Wow I never knew that, I thought it was some cheap time bomb lol. Lots of PSUs are seasonic rebrands then. I just think the name "kingwin" makes it sound Chinese and untrustable, but hey who cares if it works :D
There are some bad kingwin psus, but the Lazer platinum ones are good.
a gigabyte sniper mobo would look super sexballz in here.
but all black will always work too. pls tell me ur ram is some sort of green/neutral color.
looking forward to those pics.
Thanks buddy haha. I love the sabertooth because of it covering all the capacitors and stuff, that's why I went with it to start. As for the ram, it has white LEDs in it, sadly the photo I took doesn't show that very well, they kinda randomly pulsate, next batch of photos I'll make sure to get some with it lit up.
hey if you want to better hide that inverter i would suggest wrapping it in electrical tape. I did that to mine and it looks way better. The blue is god awful ugly.
Thanks for the idea, the cathode positioning is going to change though, they're both going to be mounted the window itself along with the inverter, which i'm hoping will render it invisible.
The way you did the sleeving for the 8 pin and 6 pin are just beautiful by the way.
Thanks a lot! Unfortunately I can't take credit for the work. Jappetto from Reddit BAPC made them for me.
Dat cable management... amazing. more pictures please
Sick Build, Good Attention to detail and part selection cant wait to see the mid plate.
Color Scheme works and cable management is neat.
One Question, Where are you going to put Two of the HDD's as only 2 can fit at the Bottom of the case?
Hey thanks for the comments buddy. Actually what I've done is I have an everclear dual drive bay that converts 2 5.25 bays into 3 3.5 hdd mounts. Three of my drives are in there, ssd is in the ssd rack, and then i have that last drive in the bottom. Either way I'm working on a midplate to cover that drive up.
OK, I understand now
Thanks for explaining and thats a smart way to use the space you have instead of just placing them randomly in the second compartment with velcro or something.
sweet build but why so many diffrent hdd drives why not a couple of the same ones???
Pulled from different old external solutions, and a couple I purchased. I plan to consolidate to similar drives in a couple months maybe. I think a few 4TBs would be nice.
why the 3570k at a budget like this. At this budget, you could of spent $100 more and got the 3770k
I had no need for it, it gives me next to no performance benefit for an extra $100, why would I do that? I also use very few applications that have hyperthreading, and none often enough to warrant the premium.
How far will you take the CPU 4.5 or so?
wait 4 3.5" hardrives..? Where did you put the others?
I have an evercool 5.25 bay converter that takes 2 5.25 bays and makes it into 3 hdd mounts. Also, new photos coming up shortly
How is that RAM treating you? Thinking of picking up a set of Avexir's Core series, only there's not much info around on them. They look fantastic.
Fantastically, huge fan of Avexir.
How do you like the K95?
I actually have the k90, not the k95, I should probably fix that at some point lol. I like it a lot. Easily the nicest looking keyboard out there (IMHO, not so much the k95 but the k90 for the aluminium finish), and it's solid as hell. I kinda would like to make the change to cherry mx greens or whites though.
Glowing plate looks cool, I was thinking I would try something like that in my build as well.
Finished product looks amazing. Nice job bro!
i loooove the lighting at the bottom of the case!!!!
i applaude your build and your budget!!!
LOL, an i5 will be a serious bottleneck with two titans XD!
So many people say it, yet so few understand how wrong that is...:P
What kind of light is that on the bottom?
Custom acrylic lightbox
Really well done. As in you made it? Or I am able to buy one?
I made it, but it's actually going up for sale soon along with the case, switched to something new and wrapping it up, keep your eyes peeled!
how did you make the bottom glass with LEDs under it?? i love it
Can't believe I just found this. This is beautiful!
I see you stalked me after the suggestions :P
Well, I went back to see your Project Taco build, but I noticed this, and I don't know how I could have missed it! This build is amazing :D
It was very pretty, but too dark (barring the led mid plate), that's why Project Taco came about.
Th-that's a lot of pictures...
Had to take a bunch :P
Beautiful! Though i see you have the carbide air 540 but you have listed the phantom 410
3570k shouldn't bottleneck too much. Still will perform great.
It won't bottleneck at all :P. Also thanks for pointing out on the phantom 410, thought I fixed that. That was mark 1 :P.
Gaming, media center, something to stare into to validate my existence.
For the price of all that storage... Why not RAID 0 4 solid state drives and use the speed?...
Most of the HDDs were acquired from an old NAS drive or trades with users for parts I was selling, so it's a hodgepodge of parts. In the near ish future I'll be working on addressing this
I'm pretty lazy lol
please consider going 1440, sli titans are way overkill for that monitor.
oh, lol oops. But there are no true 120hz monitors at 1440p, what do you mean. phantom taco?
There are true 120hz monitors. Overlord, Yamakasi, and Qnix. There just aren't any that come as 120hz stock.
I am aware you can overclock them but those are very unstable and can have issues. I say wait for samsung or asus to release a stock 120hz 1440p. I don't know if dell will do one but i know asus and samsung might.
Well to date I've had 0 issues and no instability whatsoever almost 1 year in now.
DVI doesn't have enough bandwidth for 1440p 120hz. The monitor can run at the speed but it won't look like a true 120hz monitor.
I'd love to know where you pulled that from. That is blatantly not true.
Look it up, DVI can do 1600p 60hz or 1200p 120hz.
he has gone 1440p...
look at his monitors
Why would you replace the SP-120s that come with the H100i?!?!!!?!?!?!?!?!?
Nice build, definitely should have gone X79 and a 3820 for more bandwidth to those titans.
Don't need the bandwidth, they aren't impacted on Z77 in any way. If a 690 gets no bottlenecking on z77, a titan definitely won't
Should have sent you this: http://i.imgur.com/4sYbB.jpg
Psi's benchmarks are absolute garbage. Do a google search online, I believe it was either hardware.info or techpowerup that did an incredibly detailed review comparing x79 to z77, with less than 2% variance between them.
Psi's benchmarks aren't garbage, 16x 16x is going to make a difference over 8x 8x.
If you're so sure, do the reading first. It's bunk and there's absolute 0 evidence besides his questionable benchmarks to support it. Meanwhile there's been dozens of tests on pci lanes by reputable sources that disagree with him. Believe what you will.
The bandwidth even limits 2 680s, 8x 8x will limit it.
Not true again. This is PCI 3.0 which even in x8 mode is faster than PCI 2.0 x 16, which the tests I mentioned earlier were done on.
8x is the same as 2.0 16x, not faster.
IIRC throughput per lane on 2.0 is 500mb, while 3.0 is 985 or something, though I may be wrong on that.
actually, i talked to jj from asus and the way he explained it was :
Hi JJ, please reply.? I have a question about pcie bandwith.
WIll a 3770k and maximus v formula running 8x 8x with 2 gtx 780s in sli on a asus 1440p monitor have noticeable degradation compared to an x79 platform running at dual 16x.

No please keep in mind that you are running PCIe Gen3 which is the same? as PCIe Gen2 x16 but with better efficiency. 8X Gen3 cannot be currently saturated. The only time it impacts you and to a minor degree is under 100 utilization for GPU Compute applications or high end storage PCIe solutions. Thanks for the view and support.
