My first PC build

Have been saving up and doing odd jobs since August. I finally got the money mid October and ordered my parts. They arrived a week later and I assembled it with my dad. Once it was finished we powered it on and it immediately shut down. We tried turning it on a few times and the PSU started to smell burnt. We returned it and got a new one. And it finally worked. Now I can play most games on ultra settings with great FPS. The free components and Windows 8 copy were given to me by my dad.

Will probably upgrade my monitor, CPU fan, case fans, mouse and keyboard either later this month or in the near future

Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks in Advance!

EDIT: Sorry for the bad quality pics only had an iPhone 4 at my disposal.

I love my X12 <3 It's so comfortable! I need to zip tie the cord together so I stop running over it with my computer chair though...

Nice! How is the powercooler card? I've always been weary of buying their products.

NotBrett [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

The reference card doesn't have sufficient cooling but the one I got has a dual fan config. I like it a lot and it stays pretty cool.

Good build although you should have steered away from EVGA psus from the beginning. The burning smell should have been a sign to go with something else.

Had a choice between a Corsair CX and this PSU thought this was a better choice from the reviews I've seen of the CX series cheap capacitors. But we'll see how it serves me in the future.

Should've went with an XFX. They're amazing!

Yeah at the time this was a better price and I was misinformed as to which PSUs were good. Oh well. If I ever need to upgrade my I'll stay away from EVGA.

Not all EVGA are bad. Same pretty much all brands; some models are good, some are bad.

How is the powercolor gpu, im always not sure to get them

NotBrett [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

It really depends on the cooler you get with the powercolor cards. Mine is working fine and hasn't yet gone over 45 degrees.

Money well spent! Though I must ask, why 1x8gb of memory instead of 2x4?

NotBrett [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 15 months ago

Well it was a set of 2x8 and my father couldn't find the second stick so now I'm stuck with this.

Use the audio on your mobo, tends to have 7.1 surround at that price
