Description

This was my first build. Alot of research went into picking the parts and in the end i'm generally happy with my build, but there are some problems... The motherboard was cheaper that I had anticipated, It wasn't able to drive my original usb 7.1 headset (corsair 1500v2). For some reason i overlooked the 3 star avg on newegg for the board... don't cheap out on a mother board, get an asus (or a mobo with high ratings). The cooler master hyper 212 evo was a huge pain in the ass to install, I struggled with it for 45 minutes before I got my dad and then struggled for another 45 minutes before finally installing it. And for what? A slight overclock? not worth it imo. My K70 has been crapping out on me a bit. I'm still not sure if its driver or related or a broken keyboard, it also could be related to the mobo. The problem witttttttttttttttttttt <------------- well i was about tell you the problem with it but you just saw it. .. occasionally when i strike a key (any key) the key board glitches and does that. Also happens in games, I might be holding down w and when i lift my finger up I continue to run forward until i press another key to stop it, very annoying. I will be contacting corsair support. (BTW my old 1500v2 headset worked on very other computer in my house except for my own pc, when i called corsair they said that it takes a good mobo to drive a usb 7.1 surround sound headset like their's). I guess the GA-z87x-ud3h just can't supply enough power to its usb ports, too bad...

love your setup! (But why get two 770 cards, than just getting one 780 Ti and then getting two 780 Ti's later down the road?)that aside 1+

Thanks! and I actually got very lucky with this, I bought one 770 and usps lost the shipping so amazon sent another 770 and then the 770 turned up a month later!?! Turns out usps delivered to the wrong address and the woman somehow got the parts back to me.

How are you cheaping out on the motherboard? It's like $150

haydan_sudan [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 2 months ago

well maybe it's not cheaping but looking back at it I would have rather purchased a $200 asus mobo with a good rating.

Good build, although i wouldn't have gone with the 2 770's

At first it was one but after some shipping confusion with usps, amzon sent us a second set of all the parts. Im now building a pc with the same parts for my dad without the 770.

Good build, always love seeing 200R builds! There's quite a bit of space behind the motherboard tray, so a little more work on the cables would really show off your build nicely, just a thought.

+1

Thanks and I would have done a better job with the cable managment but my 200r is non windowed so I thought why waist the time?

This is a nice build.

When did you buy the parts? I am asking because for what you paid for that CPU, if you got the CPU in the last month or two, you could have gotten the I7-4790K.

I almost went with a Gigabyte mobo, until i read how a lot of people were having problems with the USB 3.0 ports on a lot of the models. I went with Asus because of that. Which is a shame cause i loved my old Gigabyte board i had paired with my old Q9550. Solid stable board and great with the overclock.

I think you made the right choice cause I've only been having problems with the usb 3.o. I bought my parts on july 2nd.
