Description

Needed something for work and and play so I decided to raid the NewEgg PreBlack Friday deals. The only small complaint I have is that the CPU power cable was maybe 2 inches too short from being able to run it behind the motherboard tray other than that everything came together quite well. Probably looking to do yellow/gold accenting in the future to boost the aesthetics inside.

This system is definitely crying for a high end graphics card ;).

Just looking at the build pictures I can tell there is definitely enough cable for the 8 pin if it is the first cable you route behind the motherboard tray, then worry about the rest. You do not need to worry about bending the cables infact I'd suggest pre bending them before you try and connect them.
I would have had the same issue thinking the 8Pin cable is to short but I can see the slack and the route that cable is taking and it definitely looks long enough. The other cables don't have far to go so worry about routing them once you get that first one figured out. - You have that cable going 5-6 inches towards the hard drive cages then another couple inches to get up over and around the Graphics card. if you go directly from PSU into the routing hole next to the PSU and then directly straight up to the hole near that 8 pin connector on the MB you'd have inches of play.

Anyways decent build, just a touch confused seeing a $1600 build with a 560 Ti, Did you recently purchase that 560 for $244? Something along the lines of a 7870 or 7950 could have been within the same price range and allowed you to overclock it to equal some high $500 priced cards at stock. >_<

I think the prices being showed on here what they were going for today. After the rebate and Friday's sale I think it came in at like $199 *GPU. And definitely not enough length in the cable to run it behind the MB and come over the top unless I went fan down.

what do you mean fan down? I've seen that exact PSU used in that specific case and it fit with tons to spare, I'm not sure what is causing you to not have enough length in your cable.

If that specific cable goes straight against the back side of the motherboard tray and thru that little hole on the top just above the motherboard, it most certainly should be long enough.

On the PSU itself.

It shouldn't matter if you have fan up or down, that cable is long enough to go behind the motherboard in Large full tower cases if its a straight shot. Just looking in that first picture lets me know its pleanty long enough but its being directed all sorts of different ways.

Just trying to help you figure that out to help with the airflow and look :D

Also how come you are using an adapter to plug the USB 3 into a USB3 instead of the USB 3 connection on the MB? Just curious.

Maybe... Im just doing it wrong then.

if you don't have more then like 1-2 inches of the cable sticking out, it'll be just enough to barely plug it in but ya it should definitely be long enough. It'll look awesome with the color scheme you want. You should do a build log if you start modding it.

Ill try and work it around when I start getting the gold and yellow LEDs for it.

the cable you see in this picture going straight from the cable management hole on the bottom to the top corner of the motherboard tray is that cable you are having issues reaching.

I just wish to point out, if you mount the PSU with the fan withdrawing air from the vent below and in case you have it sitting on carpet, find an old small shelf to sit it on, the cable should end up being perfectly long enough, unless you had it that way and it didn't reach, which would be odd for brand matched case and PSU, Also... the PSU is quite overkill, i can't see you really wanting to SLI that graphics card, its a generation old and a better upgrade would be a 680, the SSD is kind of on the small side, could probably have saved some money else ware and gotten double the size for not much more. Otherwise its a nice gaming build that you'll enjoy

I'm not disagreeing with you about the PSU and SSD BUT both popping up the same day as a NewEgg Shell Shocker $89 for the PSU and $49 for the SSD I really couldn't argue.

I would have gotten 2 of those SSDs at that price ;)

The thought crossed my mind BUT... we still have Black Friday next week.

Im not a big fan of sabertooth for the same price you could have gotten an Asrock Z77 Fatal1ty or a Asus Maximus Z77 Gene

Two different monitors?! I have minor OCD and I can't stand having different resolutions!

You put that much money into this build, wasting money on that board and a few other things, and then you put a 560ti in it...lol wow

Again a lot of things I got with the Pre BlackFriday deals from NewEgg so the prices being shown isnt exactly what I paid for it. I agree that the motherboard is maybe a little overkill BUT it looks sexy. Besides I'm getting what I put out on it back on taxes since I really put this together for work.
