Description

So after a hell of a long time, I've finally built a gaming pc.

Firstly got to thank the pc part picker community for the help and advice you've given me, secondly to my buddy jason who plenty of time with me on the phone asking the most simple of questions.

A quick explanation on the name. PIFF is slang in london uk for Attractive/superior (I live near london uk)

At the bottom Im going to list the upgrades ill be buying next year once Christmas is out of the way.

some of the part were bought OEM to lower the cost, as i started this build just after i got my new job. ( as congratulation present to myself)

Ill add bench marks once OC'ed and new GPU is in as it'll be embarrassing other wise X)

Also excuse rule of engagements in the background....

The parts have been bought from various places:

CPU: Bought from eBay OEM.

MOBO: Bought from eBay once again no issues, and im really impressed with it

CPU cooler: Bought from eBay, and the only item i had issues with as it wasn't described fully and had many parts missing, which thankfully cooler master help me massively by sending me what i need for a very cheap price.

HDD: bought a 1tb 7200rpm barracuda, and using my old 5400rpm 2tb as music a photo storage ( once i get round to learning how to do it)

Ram: Ebay, ram prices just seemed to be constantly rising when i was looking, so i bought cheap and have oced to 1600

GPU: this is from my old build and will only be in for a maximum of 2 weeks im waiting to get paid then im buying a R9 290 and by the time i come round to ordering the after market 290s will be out.

Case: amazon, Its beautiful, cable management is good enough for a newbie, but no doubt i could do better, (tips please)

Psu: Ebay and is brand new, nice and powerful does its job 650w non modular was £2 less so the price was worth it.

Windows 7: eBay oem does what it says on the tin.

Extras: bought the orange trim for a total of £20 including the stealth cover.

Upgrades: will be adding an SDD, a gaming headset and roccat isku keyboard and maybe new/ extra ram but itll have to be low profile as cpu cooler take a lot of room.

Any input is welcome but be gentle, it my first ;)

Edit: Gave up of trying to get an aftermarket 290, so went for a 770 windforce instead !!

212 fitting kit?

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Basically got the cooler from ebay and wasn't told parts were missing, contacted cooler master and the send the parts required for fitting for a very cheap price.

Nice build man, I'm currently planning something similar

(also that's the episode where the female basketball team are in town and Timmy and Russell get a piece)

haha yes, yes i was :P

PickItApart 1 point 12 months ago

Great build, but I'm not sure you'll need a 290. I think a 280 will be plenty for one monitor. Afterall, a 280 can max out almost all games, including BF4.

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

I originally planned on a 280x but with the 290 i have the availability of adding more screen in the future, which i probably will do

PickItApart 1 point 12 months ago

You got a CF ready mobo and hopefully enough power that you might be able to CF 7970s.

leikamkei [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

Very nice build! Makes me all the more excited to get all the parts for my build. I would like to recommend moving the HDD down a couple slots to avoid blocking the air from the fan, although I don't think the difference is that big. Great looking build once again!

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

i have another hdd in two slots above, and my sata power cable has strange spacing so unfortunately they have to be like that, im going to be adding 2 top fan to extract the warm air soon.

pslam [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

nice case! (Also got the same one but black). I'm not really digging the cd drive though =/ looks kinda odd with a white shinobi

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 11 months ago

ive got the stealth cover on order, so wont be like that for much longer

Meowth79 1 point 2 months ago

Great name. It brings me back to Billy and Mandy lol

Also I like the layout inside (it looks clean imo), is it still running as good as ever?

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 26 days ago

Haven't thought of billy and mandy in ages !!!! thanks, it could be a bit better inside but im happy with the way it is. yer still running nicely looking at change the case soon so i can water cool and change the mobo.

PeridotProdigy 1 point 1 month ago

How's the airflow in that case?

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 26 days ago

Its quite good actually, does get fairly warm, but thats mainly because the fans i have aren't that good.

PeridotProdigy 1 point 26 days ago

OK! Thanks!

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 26 days ago

If you go for the case go for a couple of the noctua fans. ok the colour wont be a great combo, but they work really nice inside !!

DuffmanDuffs [1 Build] 5 points 12 months ago

Then post a build.

l13199l [1 Build] 5 points 12 months ago

the color on that specific one may be bad but the shinobi in general is a great case. and saying "i could do better" makes you look like a huge *******, although you probably know that already..

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

what was the person saying ? I didnt see the comment

l13199l [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

just basing the quality of the build on the color of the case and gpu, nothing that's never been done before

clarky007 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 12 months ago

haha well im glad there are people like that for us to mock.
