I had so much fun building my first PC. It's a monster of a machine. Aesthetically, I'm not finished. The only thing that bugs me a tiny bit is that my GPU is voltage locked, but it really doesn't affect me since its run every game I've thrown at it perfectly on maxed out settings.

The Xigmatek Dark Knight II has to be one of the most underrated CPU coolers; I've never seen my temps go above 45F overclocked and under heavy loads.

GPU stays nice and cool as well, only hitting about 70F overclocked under heavy loads as well and walks all over Tomb Raider, Bioshock: Infinite, Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and any other game I've tried.

I love everything about the z87-I Deluxe and was surprised there wasn't many reviews anywhere.

A-Data SSD boots this beast up in under 15 seconds from the moment I press the power button.

I have to shout out pcpartpicker, and /r/buildapc on reddit (I've already posted my build over there). I really couldn't have done it without you guys.

Very nice first build! How did you like working with the prodigy?

hoezayftw [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

It was great! lots of fun, space was not an issue at all; I made sure to do my research ahead of time i.e. PSU size, low-profile memory. All in all, I'm glad I chose this case.

+1, nice parts and good assembly.

Love Orange themed builds.

Happy Gaming!

hoezayftw [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks! I'm actually planning on getting white sleeve extensions to go along with the white/orange theme.

Sounds good, would love to see some pics!

I can't tell, does the fan miss the first RAM slot?

SparkyOnPC 1 point 14 months ago

I just got great news so you posted this at a good time. great build, definitely a +1 from me man! :)

So what's the news?! haha, thanks! had lots of fun with it :)

I really like this case. Most builds would look sexy in it. Good job.

HerpaLerpaDerpo 1 point 14 months ago

Nice build. I really love the case.

Love Prodigy builds - how did you like working in it?

My only concern with them is that it seems as if they would be easy to tip given how the feet are.

hoezayftw [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

I really enjoyed it! Tons of space for an mITX. You'd think that, but actually the structure of it reminds me of a building; when the weight of the parts is added, the legs absorb the shock of a bump and it just kind of waddles, the same way a building would during an earthquake. I actually feel it overshadows other cases in that aspect.

Try getting some Cougar fans on the CPU cooler they're actually quite good as heatsink fans. It would also look really sweet with 2 orange fans running on the Dark Knight.

Dark Knight Isn't really underrated is more of that if you going to pay 50 bucks for Aircooling you can get something else that's a bit better.

I've even heard people complain it's loud, but the one time i worked with it it wasn't really loud, Louder than NH-D14, but not unbearable or annoyingly loud at all.

Btw, thanks for using Cougar fans they're awesome, Noctua > Cougar > Everything else(good fans have different colors, must be some kinda truth to this, you can get black cougar fans though, but it's an amazing color of orange they use)

Anyway, overall awesome build, I'll hope it'll serve you well and You'll be happy with the preformance. Only thing i would've done different was to get a higher capacity ssd if you have the funds for it. Unless you plan on getting another.

One last thing to add, thanks for telling me about the locked voltage on the 7950 windforce, actually didn't knew, not gonna use that for my customer build then.

I was actually considering getting a couple to replace the Spectre's for the ceiling intake. I'm going for a white/orange theme. Cougar fan's are built with outstanding quality! I was really impressed, you can feel the quality just by holding it. I only plan on using the SSD for my OS; I was on a bugdet and honestly don't think I need any more.

No problem, apparently earlier productions of the card were unlocked. Also, the stock clock specs on NewEgg said 900mhz, when in fact it is 1000mhz.

snogler24 1 point 13 months ago

did your $25 microsoft key really work, because i hear alot of those sites are scams, and the software is a beta key that lasts 6 months

Gooberdad [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

I'm curious about that as well. I've been bitten at the one month after install with it not being a valid key. I've reset it once now with CMD in administration mode to rearm(slmgr -rearm) but I can only do that three times I think. I wish I knew someone with a university key that still had lots of build left.

Gooberdad [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

nice build. Cable management looks like a booger. btw, why only one ram stick?

Eschaton [2 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

dat orange theme tho

lachrymal 1 point 11 months ago

Nice lighting and angles. Dazzling fan control display.

patrickdeala 1 point 14 days ago

do you really need another cpu cooler? i mean the i5 already got its own cpu cooler, so... is the i5 cpu cooler not enough?

OCedPug [2 Builds] 0 points 14 months ago

Thats a beautiful , small but powerful build. 4670K + 7950 is a great choice and I would just pick that pair for any budget build. My 3570K and now sorta dead 7950 beated everything on ultra-very high so I can bet yours will be a tad bit more :) The Prodigy is my favorite mITX case.

Only one question , why a CX600 ? The CX series isn't meant for such a build. My first upgrade would be the PSU then the SSD. 64GB is sorta lock up unless its for Ubuntu or only the OS. Everything else is great. Oh and BTW I would love to see this build in Orange single sleeve cables. I'm sure it will look pretty nice on an already nice looking build. +1 already done ;)

hoezayftw [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. It's performed with outstanding results :)

I don't see anything wrong with the CX600, it's handled everything very well. Yeah my SSD is strictly for Windows, and there actually is still space on it, but I don't need it.

I'm actually planning on getting white sleeves for it! and maybe some more white LEDs; I'm going for a white/orange look :)

OCedPug [2 Builds] 0 points 13 months ago

The CX600 does do well , but IMO you never know how clean your components are being powered by the PSU , unless something blows up :)

SSD will be going close to full after crappy updates. You can keep 1-2 games at best , but its not the best way to go.

White/Orange is gonna be an unique colour scheme. But White LEDs on side and Orange on Top or vice versa. It'll look cool anyway :) Personally I would spray the GPU in the same way , like umm , White on body and orange on fans. If your lazy ( which your not IMO ) get the body orange :) In CPU cooler's case , do the cooler orange and let the fans alone. This was just my opinion on what to do if your willing to , I hope you like it :)
