Description

Updated 07/12/2013 gtx 670 cx600m ssd EVO 120gb ips234

Upgraded from a crappy old 2006 Macbook. Works an absolute treat, so much faster. I will be adding a SSD and a separate windows hard drive very soon. I also used a different cooler than the one listed, the CM Hyper TX3 as it was one of the few that would fit this mobo (Very small space between cpu and gpu)

Feel i made a mistake choosing only a 430w PSU as it limits me in upgrading my Graphic card any better than the 650ti. Would also recommend using a modular psu with this case, cable management is very hard.

Installing OSX was pretty easy using the forums at tonymacx86. Had to do a bit of fiddling to get the graphics card to work properly but it will now be much easier to install as the new Mountain Lion 10.8.3 update supports the GTX 650ti.

The setup has also changed since the pic, now running a 23 inch ips as my primary monitor with the dell as a secondary...

You may be able to upgrade to a GTX 660 with a 430 watt PSU. But wait until you need to upgrade because by then you can upgrade to a faster and less power hunger GTX 7xx or GTX 8xx or Radeon 8xxx or 9xxx.

The case does make it look like a Fat Mac. Nicely done. These Bitfenix builds are beginning to grow on me.

Has there been any issues for you with a 430W PSU? I'm considering building a very similar Hackintosh build with a 3570k and a GTX 650.

none so far. runs nice and quiet, though if i was doing it again id get a modular psu. cable management is a ***** in this case...

You would need to choose a PSU with ample space for the modular plugs in that enclosure as there are holes on each side that are positioned for non modular but the middle is solid.

Recently I started to contemplate replacing my 09' 27in iMac with a hackintosh. And your build is virtually identical to the build I have been musing. Your build is both stunning and beefy, but I'd like to know two things about it. 1. How challenging is it to install mountain lion on it? Is it simply a "follow the guide" on tonymacx86, or is there some "DIY know how" involved? 2. How does it actually run once installed? Is it analogous with a regular mac? Does it have little quirks here and there?

The install ran relatively smoothly, though when i did it my graphics card was not supported and made the process quite a bit longer. I followed a guide by one of the users on tonymac, and any other problems i had a quick search would fix. In terms of functionality, everything was there, i have yet to find a program or feature that doesn't work. The one exception to this is sleep, which does not work fully, though this is not a deal-breaker in the slightest for me. good luck with your build!

Awesome! Thank you for the reply. Truthfully though I'm about to make my first gaming PC, and if everything goes effortlessly I have no doubt I'll replace my iMac with a hackintosh this summer. Once again thank you for responding!

Hey. I had a 2011 iMac with the 2500S in it.

It wasn't top of the line, but it wasn't a potato. It had a beautiful screen too.

You can hate Apple, but you gotta admit their screens do look nice. Not $1000 for a 21 inch monitor nice, but nice. I'd be willing to pay like $300 for one of them lol
