Description

This is my first ever build. Took me 6+ months to be able to afford all the parts.

I didn't have to many issues building the system ( didn't break anything thankgod!) though some things were very confusing.

I love the Fractal Design Define S! Was so easy to build in, and cable management was a breeze, though I did find it difficult to plug in CPU power plug.

Overall very happy with the way it turned out for just over $2900. The monitor and keyboard I purchased a few years back, but wanted to include them as they're part of the full setup.

Haven't benchmarked the system yet, but will update the build when I have.

UPDATE: 08/10/16 - Purchased another identical 8GB (2 x 4) kit of Corsair Vengeance LPX Memory, now have 16GB total.

UPDATE: 14/10/16 - Benchmarked the system.

3DMARK Firestrike Score (OC) - 12231 (GPU Clock @ 2139MHz, CPU Clock @ 4.6GHz) Cinebench Score (OC) - 953 (CPU Clock @ 4.6GHz)

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Good cooler, though difficult to install for a first timer.

Motherboard

Good motherboard for the price, everything is pretty easy to connect, though concerned about heatspreaders on VRM etc as seem to almost come off if nudged. Also tab on GPU socket popped off when removing the GPU but I was able to put it back.

Video Card

This card is a beast. Had a few issues with the lighting (got stuck on one colour and wouldn't change) and fan control (fans would randomly ramp up and down) had to physically unplug GPU from motherboard and plug back in to fix the issue. Not a fan of the Gigabyte Xtreme software, prefer using EVGA Precision XOC.

Case

Great case, so easy to build in and required almost no cable management. Do wish that the side panel didn't scratch so easy though.

Power Supply

Love the all black sleeved cables, made my build look great.

Operating System

So expensive.

Case Fan

Serves its purpose, and looks pretty too!

Monitor

Had this monitor for a few years now, been great so far.

Keyboard

Had this keyboard for a few years now, it's excellent though I find it is unstable and rocks if I rest my hand on one corner.

Mouse

I really like this mouse a lot though it's a bit big for my small hands.

Headphones

Great sound, though clamp down on my head pretty hard.

Its great but no need for an i7 unless you doing video editing?

I was going to get the 6600k but had the extra cash so thought why not go for one better.
