Description

Built to continue with my game art degree and improve 3D modeling and animation skills with a side-effect of gaming (iRacing, Hawken). This is upgrading from my 5 year old m15x laptop which has served me very well. Everything went together flawlessly. The CM V8 has 0mm to spare in the case, it was my biggest worry, but it closes up just fine. I think I got one of the last of these cases out there. I know you can find anything on the Internet, but if you want a case like this, all I can say is good luck. The lighting all looks amazing and is controllable with swtiches in the back, except for the blacklight spiral, so hardware visuals are solid, except for a bit of a wire mess in the bottom, but you win some you lose some. I just need to get some video software for the BD drive to work (suggestions welcome), and I know my monitor needs a friend, but that will have to wait.

First year additions: Cooler Master Blade Master case fans, LED text case fans, 2TB WD Black HDD, 16GB Corsair Dominator Platnium RAM.

So how's the airflow with that case?

DjArtifact 5 points 16 months ago

That case is ridiculous.

IS IT POWERED BY ASUS OR CORSAIR

YOUR STICKERS ARE VERY CONFUSING!

on a more serious note, I think it looks cool. I would like to see more clear parts, specifically a BD/DVD drive. That would be cool.

I would also like to see some waterproof parts so we could get some fish swimming around in there, but the latter isn't likely to happen :(

Wow! Thanks for all the feedback! The airflow is really good: 1 fan at the front behind the spiral black light, 2 in the side, exhaust in the back, all with filters, plus the graphics card has 2 fans on it, and the V8 has a 120mm fan in it that blows towards the back. I'll have to go into my BIOS to check the actual temps.

Neither do I like mATX mobos nor transparent case, but I think your build is great! I like the quality of the parts you used; Good job! ;)

That case looks a lot like a case I use to had and recently dismantled and threw out.

Love that you have brought back memories of my old computer :)

how is the usb wireless adapter?

RUIN3D [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 4 months ago

It works really well. I've had more ISP issues than issues with the adapter. I'm a floor above and 30 ft away from my access point and I have full bars.

I have a wire control kit, but most of the connectors will not fit through the sleeves. The mess of wires at the bottom is for the lights and harddrives to run. I agree, it is not as clean as i want it to be by any means, but I underestimated the amount of wiring all the lights would add. It all runs great, and the wires are not chocking airflow as far as I can tell, plus the lights look awesome, so I am not really concerned about it. I may deal with it in the future though.
