Description

Needed a new gaming PC. Decided to upgrade from the old and tired C2D E6550 / 8800GT that i built 6 years ago.

I started off thinking i would purchase all new parts. I didn't have the cash to purchase everything outright immediately, so i began watching for deals and picking up bits and pieces as they went on sale. I bought the 7950 first and stuck it in my old PC. Next came the memory and SSD. I was planning a 4670k build but the cost was pushing me toward an FX 6300. I needed to do this on the cheap, since i have a baby at home and money was tight. I stumbled across a local guy posting on /r/hardwareswap with the case, mobo, cpu, and cooler. It just seemed to work. I don't do any streaming, and for the price i couldn't pass it up. The 1100t is still a great chip and is working perfectly for gaming.

I run Eyefinity on 3x 24" monitors at 5040x1050. The single 7950 has been working at that resolution like a champ.

The PSU is temporary, i had it laying around and tossed it in. A 750-850w modular will be purchased soon, as i am considering a 2nd 7950 for Xfire.

Nice use of /r/hardwareswap, it's a great way to build a cheap PC.

I was wondering about the RAM you are using. I have seen it on other websites like Newegg and was wondering if you have had any problems out of it?
