College Budget Build

Description

So before I had a laptop. The ac adapter port broke, and I was just tired of having laptops. I eventually decided to build a pc. I searched for months for decent parts and came across all of these. What I love about this build is that the AMD FC-6300 stays cool all the time, under load it'll go to about 30-40 C and then idle itll stay around 17-20C. The video card is cheap, but works for many games. Plays wow on ultra, league of legends on high. Many games I'll have around 150-200 FPS with a high graphics. Everything fit in the casing well too. The only issue with this build is the motherboard. It did not have a 3.0 USB port for the front of my casing. That was a little bit of a let down. All the parts came in fine, nothing with DoA. Comment below on what you think.

Details
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor
CPU Clock Rate3.5GHz
CPU Temperature While Idle20.0° C
CPU Temperature Under Load40.0° C
PowerColor Radeon HD 7950 3GB Video Card
GPU Core Clock Rate1.0GHz
GPU Effective Memory Clock Rate1.12Ghz
GPU Temperature While Idle34.0° C
GPU Temperature Under Load50.0° C

Do you like the case?

Honestly I love the case. I haven't taken any pics of the inside of the case, but theres a lot of room. If you check it out there'es room for like 7 hard drives, had like 8 USB slots. Space for about 4 fans. The case came with a fan, which is the blue LED light you can see. It's worth it!

Every time I look at that case I think of Stormtroopers... :)

Mine reminds me of a snowmobile

Looks like a pretty solid budget build. Later on you can add another stick of RAM to match and upgrade your GPU without much issue, leaving a good amount of room for improvement as you need it.

Give us some interior pics - let us see your handiwork! Nice build.

Yeah originally I would of liked to have a GeForce GTX 650 TI but, couldnt afford the extra 50$ at the time. The ram is something im adding probably for christmas. Ill put up the pics soon

You would have rather had a 650 ti? Come on man, the 7970 kills the 650 ti in terms of performance.

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 1 month ago

The reason i wanted a 650 ti was because i had a radeon 7770

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 1 month ago

I wanted it at the time when i had a 7770 Ghz edition. Upgraded since then

Why not tidy up on those cables? See those holes where you mount the motherboard? you can run the cables through those. You will get better airflow and it will look nice and pretty inside. Take the back panel off for better access. If you got any zip ties laying around, that will help.

When i played league of legends/wow. I had my FPS uncapped and it hit around 180 average

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 8 months ago

In addition to this build, the video card came with a free crisis 2 i think?

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 8 months ago

Updated the pictures of the build.

Is that actually the price for the PSU? Because that is a very high price for just 500w. Also, could have gotten a 1TB drive for the same price. But as long as you're happy, it's fine I guess.

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 8 months ago

I saw the fact of the 1 TB HD, but at the time there was a combo deal with the HD so I got it then. Plus, I dont need 1TB, 500GB is more than enough for my use.

The power supply actually came cheaper due to a combo i think. It was 34.99$ because it came with a mail in rebate

Nice! PSU is quality but a little pricy. I like it.

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 8 months ago

The power supply I got was honestly the better ones out of the price range. If you go lower, and look them up you will find that many of them come defective a lot.

Little nice build ! :)

U say not having a 3.0UsB front ? go get a cable that switches SATA on usb 3.0 ? :P Nice mobo for the price. RAMs : 4gb ? at the price , or when you will get the money , go get another 4gb ! HDD : 500gb ? isn't the barracuda 1tb 4-8$ more ? Gpu : For the gaming your doing , it,s more than enough Nothing to say on the other parts :)

It doesnt bother me not having the front 3.0, I dont use the other one even. Im updating the ram for christmas. I didnt need that much HD space, and yes its more than enough haha

What about this motherboard concerning enough fan headers? I thought it only has a CPU fan header and none for the rest of the case?

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

My CPU honestly stays cool with a stock fan. It stays around like 20-30 degrees C. But when I'm gaming, it may hit like 35. So it stays cool. Im adding more fans later

kgb 1 point 6 months ago

Hi, I'm just not sure how you will add fans to this case, because the motherboard is not very good - no fan headers. How will you do it?

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 6 months ago

There is spots for 4 fans. Not including the one that the case came with. My computer stays cool anyways. Has yet to overheat

A £350 full build that plays every game on high at 60+fps is absolutely brilliant.

A £300 full build with a HD 7770 GHZ ED, FX 6300, WD CB HDD and 4GB RAM is insane.

Great build - +1. (Also, desktops with the same specs as laptops perform about 5x better in terms of power and speed. Welcome!)

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 4 months ago

Thank you! I intend to upgrade the video card, along with the power supply and ram as well. I found a good combo deal. computer is still running well.

Painwithin [1 Build] 1 point 1 month ago

Have you fixed the cables sense these new pictures where takin?

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 1 month ago

Most of the cables I have fixed. It's pretty rough since its a non modular psu

Painwithin [1 Build] 1 point 1 month ago

not really all that hard, you can hide most if not all of them behind the motherboard tray.

I can see this case has cable management options 'the holes in the motherboard tray"

burkettc [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 1 month ago

I sold this to a friend, I fixed all the cable problems! Thanks for the info! lol
