White Lightning v2 - Twitch streaming and gaming H440!

Description

Many revisions and a few changes have gone on since i first posted this build, most notably the addition of a second card in SLI. I primarily stream and game with this setup, with light photo and video editing.

The Case

Pros I adore this case. I dont miss the disk drive. Its clean cut and gorgeous. And it fits everything i need. The Psu shroud is a blessing. It runs cool, quiet, and mostly dust free. Handy top mounted Usb ports. Durable construction.

Cons Cable management is tight, and after having it for a while now i noticed the paint is pretty easy to scratch. Also, i wish the psu fan dust filter was accessible from one of the sides and not the back. or was even magnetic so you could mount it any way you liked. but i'm really nitpicking here.

Parts and general performance This thing runs like a champ. No trouble running games at full settings, even while streaming. It stays cool, even with mild overclocks and doesn't left much to be wanted. I feel like the 8350 is a bit under-powered for the heavier tasks, but it hangs on, so no need to upgrade yet. next upgrade will probably be a slightly larger psu, for another ssd and some more OC headroom. because i feel like i'm cutting it close. The motherboard is has everything i need. the ssd is fast and reliable. the h100i is nice except for the corsair link software, which I hate.

Setup what can I say, its as functional as I can possibly make it in a military dorm. It works fine for streaming. my only complaint is my xbox 360, which sounds like a turbofan engine when its on. My mic has great quality, mouse is simple and works well, keyboard is sharp and responsive, and i really love these ips monitors, especially that asus.

Overall its wonderful to use and was a joy to build. And hey, maybe come check out the stream?

Is that 750w psu enough for your sli? I have an hx750 and am considering a dual gpu config. Nice build btw

He's really pushing it, as most people recommend having atleast 100w headroom. He might be fine, as long as he doesn't OC

yah, that's what I figured.. I just want to go up to 3 1080p monitors and get off my 7970 ghz. It is just too noisy. Just out of curiosity, can a 100 mghz OC really draw that much more power? I mean, my 7970 is clocked at 1050 and I've only drawn like 300 watts under full load (across all of the components in my haswell system)

If you are talking about this build, I wouldn't recommend it. You could try it and it might work, but I'm worried since your psu is already about maxed out

IN3RT1A [1 Build] 1 point 2 months ago

No, I'm talking about my build which has one 7970.

You're probably fine then

750W should be fine for SLI, I have a pretty heavily overclocked i5/GTX 670 with a bunch of fans and hard drives and it pulls ~ 320W when gaming. I have it all hooked up to an LCD UPS and I can see it spike up and down when playing games, never seen it go above 350W. Adding a 2nd 770 should only add like 225W max if it's at full load.

The PSU is cutting it a bit close with the stuff, but as long as you don't do anything extraordinary, you should be fine.

Hope it works out for you! Nice build, love the case.

Nice build, I used the red/black h440 for my own build. A thought would be to get the new ROG Crosshair V, I think that would look sick in your case, it does in mine.

Im not a fan of the red/black color scheme. I like the light blue on the asus board I have. The bios is screwy at times but i manage.

Man no kidding. It took me quite awhile to save up and the whole time I just felt like I was never going to be able to build the darn thing!! hahah!!
