Description

Here's a small form factor build that I recently finished. I had a **** ton of money (and still do) in store credit from my job so I decided to use it and build this bad boy. I'll mainly use this for gaming when I'm on the go, my main build is way too heavy to carry. The photos show two 7750s in CF. This was an impulse buy at work, so I'll be returning both and replacing them with the 660Ti.

I also did not pay 1K+ for this outta my pocket. I get cool discounts at my job and some of these parts were free. The temps were obtained via Prime95. I haven't tested it out gaming yet, though. The name was obtained from Asuka's Evangelion unit in Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Regardless, enjoy!

Total price? With discounts, of course.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Probably around $760 USD or so with tax.

Vidar2 2 points 16 months ago

That's great.Where do you work? Microcenter?

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 12 points 16 months ago

I WISH I DID!!!! The nearest microcenter is like 2 hours way :'(

I work for Geek Squad at Best Buy. Trust me, I hate my job as much as you hate us.

Vidar2 5 points 16 months ago

Got a job, that's still nice. That's right, look on the bright side of things, muhhahhahamaha

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

The discounts and how they put up with my availability is the ONLY reason why I am still there. That is the ONLY bright side ahahahah.

Your discount blows my discount out of the water. Not to mention, my company doesn't carry enough to be worth using as a source for a build.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

TBH, our discounts are okay. We have great discounts on after market coolers, graphics cards, power supplies, fans, RAM, etc. Best Buy doesn't carry MUCH in store, though. You can find LOADS of stuff online.

saw1833 [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Does your discount apply to online purchases? And yeah, compared to other stores just in general, your employee discount is actually rated as one of the best. I get 10%. That's it. Works on basically anything, but tax here is 7% already.

Javanode [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

make discounts for employees... rip people's money off. Genius!

saw1833 [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Rip people's money off? Feel free to expand upon your thought. Retail markup in most places is anyway from 100-300% on just about anything you purchase. Employee discounts are an incentive for employees and are still profitable.

In electronics where markup isn't as high, there is almost no profit to begin with anyway. Best Buy has already been in the position to file Chapter 11 and instead sacked their CEO and cut 2,400 stores. If it was due to employee discount, they'd have fixed the situation and replaced it with a different incentive long ago.

That said, their current CEO is still filthy rich.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

That's a bummer, you're pretty much getting a 2% discount :X. And it does, except "marketplace" items. We have to order through the stores POS system or call corporate to get discounts on online purchases.

saw1833 [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Same with us for online discount. Then again yours is wholesale + 10% right? The markup on some items like laptops and parts is usually pretty low, and if it's already on sale sometimes it's already a loss. Mine is 10% regardless and works on any items, sale, clearance or otherwise. The only saving grace is tax is calculated after the discount, not before.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Ours is cost + 5%. We get awful discounts on laptops, Apple items, and any sort of stuff like that. Our tax is also added after the discount, not before... that would suck if it were added before hahaha.

saw1833 [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Wow I always thought it was cost + 10. But like I said, markup on those kinds of devices is LOW so your discount is effectively... ineffective. Those are the only times my discount is fantastic. Got a great deal on a G7-2270 for my dad which was already a great deal just because of my discount.

Vidar2 1 point 16 months ago

Yeah.

zypherstones [1 Build] 2 points 16 months ago

Also, Evangelion is amazing. :)

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Yes, yes it is!

zypherstones [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Trust me, you're not as bad as the morons I live next to. My entire neighborhood doesn't even go there anymore for service! They either as me or the other three computer savvy people in the area.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 5 points 16 months ago

We over charge on **** way too much for what its worth and some people don't know what the **** they're talking about sometimes.

zypherstones [1 Build] 6 points 16 months ago

Oh, lord, don't get me started on not knowing what they're talking about. When I still worked there, a guy tried to convince me a GT 640 or whatever was more powerful than a 660 ti because its clock speeds were faster!!

Guerrero 5 points 16 months ago

LMAO

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 5 points 16 months ago

THAT IS SO EMBARRASSING....

zypherstones [1 Build] 2 points 16 months ago

He had no idea why I was laughing...

Jimmy 2 points 16 months ago

What an idiot. That is a perfect example on why you actually research things before you make a claim.

Smily 3 points 16 months ago

"Cores? Ha, oh, that doesn't matter."

zypherstones [1 Build] 5 points 16 months ago

'Face it, man, my Pentium beats your 3970x; You wasted your money!' 'I don't need benchmarks, my proof is in the pudding!'

Jimmy 1 point 16 months ago

lol someones gotta drive a Volkswagen Beetle.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Nah, those are in home service employees.

Jimmy 1 point 16 months ago

Oh, I thought all of Geek Squad had to drive them, I guess that's a little better then lol

Guerrero 2 points 16 months ago

I have this case and my cable management is crap I was gonna make it neat but im like f dat, very nice build dude but no hdd for more storage? Do you have the stock front fan or is that the enermax?

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Thank you!

That's the Enermax. The HDD is hidden in the front panel of the case >:)

Make it neat! I didn't use a modular power supply and stuffed all of the cables where the 3.5 HDD or the ODD would have gone. It was a pain getting it just perfect, but its so worth it!

Guerrero 2 points 16 months ago

Wait the HDD or SSD? I totally just mind f$%!#& that thats a nonmodular psu, I could have made it neater but I used a optical drive

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

The HDD. The SSD is mounted on the right side of the case, inside. There's some foam in the front panel of the case that doesn't allow the HDD to vibrate a lot, so it worked to my advantage.

Dude, take that **** out! I bet you use it as a cup holder, huh?

Guerrero 1 point 16 months ago

You need to post that pick of the HDD dude heeel no thats BA I might try it out. And that is what I use it for but its pretty low

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

I'm too lazy to get up :p

If you take the front panel off and look directly above the fan that's attached to it, that's where I placed my HDD.

Guerrero 1 point 16 months ago

What did you use to attach the hard drive and ssd?

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

I have an extension that connects to the power supplies SATA connector and I used that. It's this right here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004DCAMK4/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

DontUSASme 2 points 16 months ago

What do you do for a living to have a **** ton of money? :P

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 5 points 16 months ago

I work, go to school, and... wait for it...

I still live with my parents. I'm only 20 years old and they want me here, so why not? They're like my older roommates.

Guerrero 2 points 16 months ago

This build is beautiful

Spirafall [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Ah my gawd, Asuka's build is simply beautiful. What wallpaper are you getting to go along with it? I think something like this would complete the theme.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 16 months ago

Thank you so much!

Holy balls, yes! THAT TOTALLY WOULD! Thank you for that

Spirafall [1 Build] 2 points 16 months ago

Be sure to grab the full png version. ;D

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

just downloaded it! thanks again!

noob_for_life 1 point 16 months ago

i really like this build. love the red theme. are you getting the gigabyte version 660 ti when you return the 7750's?? because i think you should grab one that has a black pcb so it matchesbetter. i think the blue would just be ugly

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 16 months ago

I am, or I may grab the NVIDIA version. I have to cop it from my job, because that's where the store credit is from. I'll do research on it online to see which has a black PCB.

And thanks for the compliment!

DoctorFetus 1 point 16 months ago

Really cool-looking build. Certainly a fitting name.

hentaigod [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 16 months ago

Thank you very much!

construction [3 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

This is a brilliant build, love the consistent colour scheme and overall choice of parts. Love the sleeved cables to. Congratulations :)
