Gather round, children. It's story time.
I got married in 2001 to my awesome wife. Along with marriage came a new family, and I got a sister-in-law who was 7 years younger than me. She was a pretty cool teenager, and we both enjoyed gaming. She was really into console gaming, but she also started going with me to LANs.
Fast forward to two years ago. My sister-in-law (affectionately known as Pookins) and her husband wanted to buy a new computer. They sent me an email asking for help, but I was a bum and never really got back to them. They ended up purchasing a Dell that was one of those all-in-one numbers with everything built into the screen. Every year before Christmas, the adults in my wife's family all draw names and buy presents for that one person. I got Pookins' name last year, and besides all of the girly stuff on the list, she requested a desire to have a few video games. Lucky for her, Steam's winter sale was on and I went all out. I got her some of the best PC games of the last few years. I got her account set up, and she was super excited. Then disaster struck. Her current machine couldn't run any of the titles, and it couldn't be upgraded because of the form factor. She last tried to play something in February of 2013.
Now we arrive at the present. I have a friend with which I share a strong-completely-heterosexual-man-love-bromance with. I came into some funds, and so I hooked him up with a GTX 770, a new processor, and a new PSU. He in turn gave me most of the parts listed in this build (minus the drives, the case, and the mobo). Thus, Pookins' rig was born. I'm still going to do something with a sharpie on the windowed side, but the build is all done. At Christmas, she will open up the mobo box with all of the manuals, screws, and some miscellaneous parts. While she still has a puzzled look on her face, I will bring out her rig. I've already installed win 7, ran 50 million updates, installed steam, and installed over 100 GBs of games (I've added even more with humble bundles and am giving her 3 titles from the Nvidia holiday bundle which will come with the two 780 ti's I am about to buy another build coming soon).
So the build was a lot of fun, and I enjoyed working on the case. Cable management sucks in this case, but I wanted something to paint that was cheap. This served the purpose. Comments? Questions? Fire away!
