PC for Mom

Description

Built a replacement PC for my mom after lightning claimed her crappy Compaq.

Parts were chosen to be slightly more than budget parts so computer will age better for her.

Case was a relative breeze (Front of the case felt cheap, PSU was really close to the case fan) and the build was simple as pie. Would've taken more pictures but my Mom's cats were VERY interested in what I was doing.

Details
Intel Celeron G1610 2.6GHz Dual-Core Processor
CPU Clock Rate3.6GHz
CPU Temperature While Idle-
CPU Temperature Under Load-

Hey uh, Did you list the wrong case? From that picture that case looks like a Rosewill R379-M instead of the Xion you have listed.

Sorry about the forever later reply but yes, this was an accident. The Xion went to my dad (I built a $200 linux rig for him to replace his 2001 VPR Matrix)

I have a ton of spare ram (Had about 36 GB before making this now I'm sitting on 24-ish after I disassembled her old stuff.

Nice Build, 1600mhz RAM would have been better but overall nice build.

Ram speed barely makes any difference... even when rendering.

It does make a speed difference with APUs but I doubt his mom is gaming.

Yes but in this case i really doubt shell be gaming specially with a dual core.. besides facebook games this PC won't be seen much gaming action

Yeah like I said I doubt his mom is gaming.

It would super funny if she did xD

I'd have used an A8 at least. But 1600/1866 ram would've helped because rather than Vram they just use system memory. Still awesome!

DjArtifact 3 points 17 months ago

The A8 and faster RAM would be a pointless upgrade. I really doubt his mom is gaming.

Spenlard 1 point 17 months ago

How would it be pointless? I understand his mother isn't gaming. Just saying, may as well thrown it in for the money since it's a pretty nice performance boost.

DjArtifact 1 point 17 months ago

But not a necessary performance boost. My parents are still using a 1.8ghz core 2 duo and it works just fine.

i have a core 2 duo system i'm using right now it e 6600 and 4 gb and gt610 gpu

Spenlard 0 points 16 months ago

That doesn't mean an upgrade wouldn't hurt though..

DjArtifact 1 point 16 months ago

An upgrade can never hurt but it wouldn't help either.

PSU came with the case (Not my ideal choice) the RAM was extra RAM I had lying around.

So far it's been stable. The Case was a little more crappy than I want. I wouldn't recommend it.
