The Xbox One Thousand- Beast PC Build for 2014
by StogeP
Permalink:   (64 comments)

So this all started because I got pissed off about the Xbox One... And I've been wanting to build a PC for years. This is the first build I've ever done and I'd say it went pretty well. Today is 9/16/13 and I've just finished the build this weekend. I'll be adding some more pics and videos as well as overclocking in the weeks to come. This PC is just too sick. I did the bright green limited edition UV reactive tubing by Primochill to remember my Xbox roots ;) Leave any comments or questions.

I played some Planetside 2 and Battlefield 3 on it this weekend and netted these results:

PS2- All setting on Ultra- 100-120 FPS

BF3- All setting on Ultra- 100-140 FPS easy, spikes quite higher (even though my monitor can't display them)

Edit 9/18/13: Holy Sheet! Tons of comments and feedback in a day guys. I didn't even think anyone would be reading this. Just to add some more detail: I know this is overkill, it's not meant to be compared to the Xbox One in any way :P Just my joke with my buddies. Also, the BenQ monitor is a beast. Some of this equipment like the BenQ and Astros I already had from my gaming setup. I also built a custom desk for this setup which I'll show you in some pics this weekend. Thanks for the feedback and warm response to the site! I found this site EXTREMELY valuable when doing this build.

"More coming this weekend for sure plus a video." (6 Months Later) Y U NO UPLOAD PICS?

Firecrackers [1 Build] 4 points 10 months ago

THIS! I love my friend bragging about how great his PS4 will be. This link should make him eat dirt. +1, but I regret not being able to +2.

Ben466 [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

well is ps4 doesnt cost 3k dollars <.<

Firecrackers [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Exactly, my friend. Exactly.

ROODAY [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Not saying that this is true, or that consoles are better, but behavior like this is why PC Gamers are thought to be elitists.

Firecrackers [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

I was only joking. I do like the PS4's design and is at a very good price. PCs can perform better but there are still pros/cons for each side.

nhall.bob 1 point 5 months ago

i have a ps4 love it except for 1 problem. when i want to pause a download the only way i can stop it is to delete the whole thing which is a pain

deathfromup [5 Builds] 2 points 10 months ago

how are the Astro's? I just ordered a refurbished pair of a50's for only 200.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 10 months ago

they are decent, but there are better headphones for PC users. I only got them because of console play the last couple years.

DannyVekslender [1 Build] 2 points 10 months ago

Oh :O I just noticed your monitor is 120Hz

bsdev820 [1 Build] 0 points 10 months ago

except its not... my bad was thinking of the acer. used to have a similar one. nice build by the way, seems like you went pretty much all out budget-wise but a way cool build, especially if this is your first time.

sketch24 [6 Builds] 2 points 10 months ago

Really nice build.

rjceynar 2 points 10 months ago

Wow this is impressive..

reece00567 [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Very, Very nice man

GamingPC69 1 point 10 months ago

Why are you frustrated with the xbox one? $3000+ is a bit overload coming from console gaming, i hope you don't go back after using up so much money..I like the build but i think you could have saved for a few parts. +1 for a cool build

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

I'm frustrated with a lot of the policies and decisions that are shifting xbox away from core gamers. also, the mandatory kinect decision and value of xbl gold. there's a lot of reasons, but I just felt PC was the way forward for me.

GMC_TheLegend [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

well, you sir are prepared for 2020 if you ask me

Hakumisoso [2 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

If only the hardware market moved that slowly. I would be a lot happier. This thing will be outdated in a few months, but still very powerful and capable! I, having a similar rig, hope it lasts a max of 4 years in terms of good playable game settings.

xolot1 [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Great job!!! Amazing-looking build. Happy gaming!

sqielyr 1 point 10 months ago

Xbox one + tv = 1000 pc + monitors/accessories = 3000 that's a pretty big leap if you ask me.

zlogs [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

It's not a pc though. Can you use it to run computer specific applications? Can you use it to run multiple monitors?

sqielyr 1 point 10 months ago

I know... I know... It's just that $2,000 is a huge difference in price.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

haha that's why I said xbox 1000. Obviously its sarcastic and I know it's way more expensive than the xbox one. but I saved the money and sold stuff to pay for the PC so I figured why not?!!

sqielyr 1 point 10 months ago

I really need to start paying more attention to details 0_0

jekhari.lovett 1 point 10 months ago

WOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!! Now that that is out of my system yes i feel your pain I too am fed up with XBOX so i am building a gaming pc... BUT WOWWWWW!. this is like a new level of overkill this is an EPIC OVERKILL... Your Xbox wants to jump out of a window into a flaming pit while trying to hang it's self right about now. i included my 32in led tv and windows ultimate in my build and its not even half the price of yours also your CPU and GPU cost more than everything i have to buy to build my computer... With alll of that being said please more pics of this......Living being you just build. ALSO ITS A PS4000 xbox runs AMD GPU and CPU

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Yes this was designed to be a pretty high end build from the start. I wanted to embarrass the xbox one users playing Titanfall in the spring ;P

jekhari.lovett 1 point 10 months ago

well done well done

YourLocalPCNoob [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

did you run into any problems as this being your first build? What did you think was the hardest part of it?

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

yes a few! The radiator mount on top for one. this is a huge case so i never thought twice about it, but the fans wouldn't fit on the radiator when mounted on top because of the motherboard position! seems crazy but yea... also I had to RMA the pump/res combo because the pump was too loud. Something was rubbing in it which actually seemed like a common theme online when i searched it. Other than that, pretty smooth!

Hakumisoso [2 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

Is that a single 120mm rad? If so, it was quite pointless to do a custom loop just for a 120mm rad. Unless it was for just looks.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

240mm rad w/ two 120mm fans

Rayyo 1 point 10 months ago

only one pic wtf were you thinking?

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

it's all I had time for! I didn't think anyone would look at this :P I'll post more this weekend!

jakethemp [2 Builds] 1 point 10 months ago

i have 2 660 msi's in sli... my xbox 1 killer, i just hope they release destiny for pc

brian1115 1 point 10 months ago

should have bought an audiophile headphone and used an Antlion mod mic.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

I have them on my wish list :) I already had the Astros from my console gaming.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

I can cool this card if I need to by adding in the XSPB block for this card. I though it was unnecessary at this point because of all the benchmarks I've seen on this card. Probably something for the future. Or SLI two 780's :)

Yeh, but you only running a single res/rad config i assume and the temps always look the same with a LC system but stick another rad in there and set it up res > cpu > rad > gpu > rad back to res, thats how my mate did it and even with sli he gets temps of about 30 degree under load but the middle rad is running push pull and his case is a bit like the 900D where the rad is in a seperate compartment from the components

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

HOLY **** GUYS! I literally posted this thinking no one would see it and came back a day later and have all these comments. I'm super busy at work this week but I'll be around this weekend and hopefully doing more pics. I'm doing a build video too for my YT channel. Also, I'd love you guys help when I start overclocking :D

rishi23 [1 Build] 1 point 9 months ago

love the name

winstonofwar [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Very nice build and a very fitting name! On a side note, I do think your tubing could be a little bit shorter.

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Not if I want to get the reservoir out the front to fill it :)

Pencil465b 1 point 3 months ago

I have a question about the psu. Does it come with a molex? Nice build btw

mat_tech 1 point 1 month ago

How is the monitor. I'm considering it.

dschutt84 [3 Builds] 0 points 10 months ago

XBOX to custom liquid cooled PC for a first time build? Also the price is over 3k....could have bought a 80" LED tv and 5 XBOX's. Nice build, would like to see more pictures. But I find it kind of hard to believe this is your first build ever!!! If it is nice job!

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Def my first build. My buddies at digitalwarfare247.com helped me a ton! Budget wasnt a thing, this was all about principle :P

austus [1 Build] 0 points 10 months ago

Holy sheeite! What a beast! I love it.

Smily 3 points 10 months ago

Why the fluorescent liquid in the cooling loop? Because it looks awesome. Say what you want about the value of a Sabertooth, but it looks awesome, and works well in this build!

MichaeL925280 1 point 10 months ago

i love the build. how is the built in fan controller ? i plan using this case in my 1st build soon?

StogeP [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

pretty damn awesome. I was surprised how nice it is. and the included fans are really nice a quiet.
