My Fourth Personal Gaming Rig
*11/9/2014 Update: I have upgraded to a Sapphire R9 295X2 and 1300W EVGA SuperNova G2
Nice Build. Are you planing on oc the 7950?
I was planning on it but after doing a little reading about that particular model it seems to be more hassle than it's worth. If I get bored one day though I will for sure :)
We you can oc with out changing the voltage. Less hassle get MSI Afterburnner. just make sure you have 3dMark to test for stability.
I'll give it a shot maybe this weekend
Looks like I should be able to squeeze 1020MHz/1575MHz out of it with the stock cooler. I'm excited to try it this weekend.
You will noticed the difference. Hope you enjoy the oc !
I like the keyboard.
I have the same one.
Clicky Clicky :D
Annoys people around you, but feels good.
A very beautiful build and I really like the red/black color scheme of the build. I think the only improvement I would have made personally would have been to put the extra 50$ in and got a 7970 > 7950 however this is just a minor personal preference.
Heh funny story behind that, I was originally going for the 7870 and had to throw in the extra few bucks to get the 7950 because the 7870 I was going for was out of stock everywhere I looked. I went over budget by about $100 for the entire build in the end.
The performance boost of the 7950 is well worth that 100$ price difference + did you get the Never Settle pack with Bioshock and Crysis 3? That's 100$ worth of games right there so you might have broke even ;)Also is that the Ballistix Tracer RAM?
Yes I got the Never Settle pack with Bioshock Infinite and Crysis 3 :) And no it's just the regular Ballistix Tactical ram not the tracer version.
That pack has some ridiculous value! With regards to the RAM all I can say is Bling Bling Bling.
very cool where did you get the dragon badge? my build called Dragonborn you know
I got it at Wal-Mart in the automotive section http://bit.ly/Z77ltD
Where did you get that dragon sticker it's so cool.
Great job keeping the color scheme consistent. Nice to know there are other people out there that care about it. Awesome build otherwise, as well. Great video card, a kick-*** ssd, and a great CPU. Good job! :D
Is the 6ms response time any problem while gaming? I've been looking at that monitor, but usually 5ms is my maximum.
Crysis 3 plays very well on it. I'm happy with the monitor except that it has a random whine that's quite annoying. I started the RMA today and will be having it replaced, I'm hoping it's not a common thing with this monitor as it is very nice.
Monitor has beem RMA'd as of this morning soon as I get the new one I'll let ya know if the squealing has stopped or not.
How is the monitor now?
I am considering getting the same type of monitor.
It's been awesome since I got the first one RMA'd. Haven't had any issues with it at all.
Sounds good, thanks for reply!
So much Asus stuff but you don't have a single part (not including monitor) by Asus
Heh yeah I never noticed that, my last pc the one this one replaced was all ASUS/ROG themed and I didn't think before I made that wallpaper doh
RoG with no RoG hardware? Come on man I had my hopes up!
I know I know, I made the wallpaper without even thinking cause my last box was all RoG and I didnt even think derp I have no asus in this build lol. Soon as I have time I'll make a new one :)
Nice build, with a nice keyboard! Do you recommend that thermal paste?
That paste is super thick compared to the good old silver 5 stuff but it works good :)
Thanks for the info, I've been looking into good compounds.
I see you have the original CM Cosmos, great case. I still have mine, i'll never part with it.
That's my old PC BlackDragon III http://on.fb.me/130YEFw I sold her to a buddy of mine.
Oh I love that case, such good quality and nice to build with. Unfortunately I sold that system a few years back.
Yeah I would hate to part with it even though I'll be building a new PC soon. I also still have the original Coolermaster Cosmos and two Antec Sonata's in mint condition.
Always love building a new PC :) Have you got a parts list started? What case are you thinking of for the new build?
I am finishing up a build this weekend using the NZXT H440 in red. How about you?
LOOOOOOVE that case! I built a rig for a buddy of mine last summer using that exact case, it's so nice to work in. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/QkLD4D
Great build, personally I would've gotten the H80i or H100i for the CPU cooler. But whatever works for you is good.
I wouldn't be happy with Powercolor and Antec components for the graphics and power, but if they run well, what can I say. The rest is all very fitting :D
Antec actually makes good psus.
I know they do, but a 500w Corsair PSU that is modular costs much less, and Corsair PSU's are notoriously reliable. Just my take on PSU's.
Modular psus are good.
This power supply has developed a high pitch squeal for 5-7seconds every 25-30seconds. I've tried running it on and off of an APC Back-UPS 1500 with the same results. I put in a request to Antec yesterday, hoping to hear back Monday.
