Description

This is a pure gaming machine, and it does it well. I couldn't be happier with the way it turned out. But my girlfriend hates it. :(

your girlfriend hates it because that's $6200 not spent on her XD

Guerrero 14 points 27 months ago

Three 680's and one 1080p monitor...

IamApropos 3 Builds 7 points 27 months ago

its not just any 1080p monitor ;) Its a gaming 120Hz monitor!!!

aragorn98 2 points 26 months ago

Well at least the frames will never drop below 120FPS! Please do a Crysis 3 benchmark or a Metro 2033

IamApropos 3 Builds 2 points 26 months ago

I did Metro: Last Light ;) its on my facebook page.

Guerrero -5 points 27 months ago

atleast a 1440p monitor

IamApropos 3 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

See I can't find a 120Hz 1440p monitor, and pushing 120 frames a second in a lot of games with a setup like this would be stunning on a 120Hz / 144Hz monitor where correct me if I'm wrong, I don't know of any 1440p monitors that come in 120Hz+.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

There are currently no 120hz 1440p monitors on the market that i know of. There are 1440p monitors that you can "overclock" to get close to 120hz. But that is the main reason i have stayed away from 1440p, using a 120hz monitor has ruined me for anything less.

IamApropos 3 Builds 5 points 27 months ago

120Hz+ / 120 Fps gaming = amazing and most people who haven't experienced it have no clue what to expect.

mhirt34 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

The Catleap 2B extreme is a moded 1440p monitor that can possibly get up to 130hz refresh rate. Its not guaranteed but most people that i have heard that made the leap for it got at least 120hz.

its got a $750 price tag though. I also believe its sold out at the moment.

th3m4dh4tt3r 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

That's because I think all the 1440p monitors are IPS panels, which just can't handle the refresh rate that TN panels can.

420swagyolo -5 points 27 months ago

Also 3D.

IamApropos 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

well yes there is that, though it personally gives me a headache playing anything with visible 100+ / 120+ frames a second when a monitor can produce that is just... well awesome!

Djangosp2 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

4k monitor HO! ;)

th3m4dh4tt3r 1 Build -1 points 27 months ago

Not 4k, lol

Pineapplewill 4 points 27 months ago

Homina Homina Homina Homina you sir built my dream computer

saw1833 1 Build 4 points 27 months ago

I guess I have to ask... why does your girlfriend hate it?

aragorn98 3 points 26 months ago

Because he's spent an insane amount on a PC and not her. I know which one I'd rather have!

PacificNic 2 Builds 4 points 27 months ago

If your girlfriend hates it, I either get the computer or the girlfriend. You choose.

:D

aragorn98 2 points 27 months ago

I know which one I would pick

suihigh 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

I want to work where ever it is that you work so i can have the cash flow to build a similar gaming pc!!

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

I just built it as i went along. I did not buy everything all at once. I knew i wanted something like this so i would just buy a component whenever i could, and waited on parts to go on sale. You can get some good deals and a monster rig with a little bit of patience.

suihigh 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

if it were possible for patience to exist with me, then i would have a nice gaming rig right now lol

NeoKorean 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

U rich man.....

ImAustin 1 Build 3 points 27 months ago

3d **** >:D

Methodizedmadness 1 Build 3 points 26 months ago

but can it run minesweeper

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

I dont plan on sticking with one monitor, if i did the 3 680s would be a little bit redundant.

Guerrero 1 point 27 months ago

Get some 1440p stuff!

seafire01 1 point 27 months ago

1600p lol.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

I considered this monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824260028

But the 120hz with the BenQ drew me in. Plus i wanted to try my hand at 3d gaming. Which i now think is just a gimmick. But it can be fun from time to time.

DjArtifact 1 point 27 months ago

Once you go 120hz you can't go back.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

I agree 100%

dednoob6 1 point 27 months ago

Dat typo in the picture

Oliver 4 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

Is that a shutter island poster in the background of the first pic?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

Yes it is.

ThatDopeAggie 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

My $250 build destroys this, but nice try. =P

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 10 points 27 months ago

I'm still trying to catch the Xbox performance wise.

aragorn98 1 point 27 months ago

LOL

Kofi96 1 point 27 months ago

are you a pro gamer this thing is a beast

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 2 points 27 months ago

Not quite, i do game my fair share, which is the reason my girlfriend hates it.

Kofi96 1 point 27 months ago

also why not a titan

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 12 points 27 months ago

I had 2 680s before the titans release, not to mention 2 680s beats a titan in every benchmark. Then i got the 3rd 680 for pretty cheap. The Titans price tag does not match its performance. It should be a $750 card max.

aragorn98 0 points 26 months ago

!?!?! What?!?!

brandonmorgan1234 1 point 27 months ago

WOW just wow

will111666@hotmail.com 1 point 27 months ago

wat makes all the lights...... and can u make them blue ?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

The lights at the top and bottom are just led strips with a 3 pin fan header soldered to them. The white lights in the middle come from the RAM lighting. Those can be changed with aftermarket lights.

th3m4dh4tt3r 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

Holy ****. This looks amazing! Did you build it?

EDIT: Why is your third 680 not watercooled?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

I did build it and the 3rd 680 isnt water cooled yet, the water block is on the way i just picked up the 3rd card this weekend. I will update with more pictures once the third block is installed.

th3m4dh4tt3r 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

Awesome :D

Ultimateugabuga 1 point 27 months ago

Nice but why go with windows 8?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

I actually like windows 8, it has better performance than windows 7 and a lot of cool features. If you can get over the start menu issue it is a great operating system. Not to mention I am a computer technician and i had to learn windows 8 to be able to help assist customers.

Bseagull 1 point 27 months ago

Buy 2 more monitors, and you'll still be at 120hz+

AWESOME BUILD! I love how you say it does 'well' as if you expected it to be so good it would make your awesomeness level skyrocket. :P

thefishkid1 2 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

How do you have your hard drives arranged? one massive array? i assume the matching pro 128's are stripped in RAID 0 but what have you got going on with the others?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

The 128s are in Raid 0 as my boot drive. The other 2 drives are just data drives. The 512 is used for steam and the 128 is used for Origin.

XxShadowHunt3rxX 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

Epic monster, how many FPS can this beast play crysis 3 and battlefield 3 at max settings? nice! :D

Expo 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

What are those led strips?

randomjester 1 point 27 months ago

What the heck does it take to get a perfect WEI score... lol

on_droid 1 Build 1 point 27 months ago

We need a better picture of the guts and benchmarks stat!

dednoob6 1 point 27 months ago

Spend all that money and you NOT get a mech keyboard?

Tut tut

aragorn98 1 point 27 months ago

I could say OVERKILL ON A MASSIVE SCALE! But I somehow think that this is why he built this.

mactaveous 1 point 26 months ago

Have you sleep in the same room yet... to just hear her sweet hummmm?

Eredicate 1 point 26 months ago

Crying

DanJZ0404 1 point 26 months ago

Hey, where did you buy all the water cooling gear at? I cannot figure out where to buy it at.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

frozencpu.com is where i get all of my water cooling gear.

DanJZ0404 1 point 24 months ago

Alright, thanks. Although by the time I read that post, I had already found frozencpu.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 26 months ago

Ive got an updated build coming. Some 900d GTX 780 goodness :)

DanJZ0404 1 point 24 months ago

Hey Synthet1X, what exactly is the difference between the BenQ XL2420T and the XL2420TX?

Relapseespaler 1 point 24 months ago

Waste of money im my opinion if it is strictly for gaming. Yes you'll be future proof for some time, but you'll want to religiously clean that pc out from dust particles every week or so. I'd just spent half of that and saved the rest in a saving account for upgrades in the future. I am a bit biased though because I am jelly. =p

changerrs 1 point 23 months ago

cuttin it close with only a 1000W PSU? other than that, amazing build.

Heisen6erG 0 points 23 months ago

Sorry, bro! But 5ms monitor can not be a gaming monitor. For gaming response time must be 1ms and 2ms only.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 23 months ago

lol you realize the BenQ 2420t is the top gamining monitor in the world used by multiple professional leagues.

Oliver 4 Builds -1 points 27 months ago

BUT CAN IT PLAY CRISIS?

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 1 point 27 months ago

The third water block is on its way for the gpu i just picked up the 3rd card this weekend. It will be water cooled next week. And she is jealous because i spend time with it sometimes instead of her :).

NeoFusionMonkey -1 points 27 months ago

HORRIBLE cable management!!!!!!! jk

on_droid 1 Build -1 points 27 months ago

I could critisize the RAM or the CPU(3820 would suffice for gaming) but in the end this rig doesn't look to have been built with practicality in mind and there is something to be said for overkill.

Synthet1X submitter 3 Builds 3 points 27 months ago

It would be a crime to put a locked processor into a build like this. There would be no reason to have a dedicated water loop and 3 GPU's and then have a locked processor. This build was overkill, but that was the point.

on_droid 1 Build 0 points 27 months ago

The 3820 is different. Unlike other non 'K' processors its muliplier is partially unlocked. It actually overclocks quite well. I have mine overclocked to 4.7Ghz. For this build the processor is about right. The processor is overkill but so is the rest of the build. I wasn't saying that this is an aweful build, I was merely stating that it is way overkill for a gaming build but that was the whole point.

It's a waste of perfectly good performance to drop a ton of money on multiple GPUs and then NOT go socket 2011.
