BitFenix i7 4770k Custom Build (Green Machine#2)
by domzlol
Permalink:   (116 comments)
Description

This is a custom build for a client. He will be using this for mainly video/photo editing ....Hint the X2 512 SSD in RAID. and the 16 GB of ram. I also did a little custom paint on the corsair 120MM fan. I used Valspar High Gloss spray paint. Made specially for plastics.. This is my 4th ITX build and they seem very popular... Everyone should have one imo.... The screen is Acer T232HL 23-Inch Touch Screen LCD Display

i know there is allot of haters out there because of the touch screen but to be honest once you use it for a while its actually really nice on convenient... its FAST when your navigating between windows... and most of all it looks really nice on a clean space.

also please check out my other builds! :) http://imgur.com/a/XxrwS#27

Thanks for looking

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

ImElkay [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

ImElkay [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks for that I guess you do learn something new everyday

BeardCreep 2 points 13 months ago

did you already post this?

Im pretty sure the monitor is the same one but i think its his personal monitor

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

This one is diff. Just called the same. Otherones a i5 diff hardware. :)

BeardCreep 2 points 13 months ago

gotcha. the same names just got me confused. great as always :D

stnz [1 Build] 2 points 13 months ago

Good pick and parts in general, also I would have saved a bit on the extra SSDs and taken the non pro version as the difference between chips is not essential for what your client is going to use them, I would have used that money to get a better PSU for example as the CX is far from being flawless. Other than that, good Mobo / CPU / GPU combo. Nice pics and case organization.

iwalkwithedead [1 Build] 2 points 13 months ago

Nice! I'm working on a water cooled Blue Prodigy now

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Noice! Can't wait to see pics!

Pvt_Nutzack 2 points 13 months ago

So.....what is it? i5 or i7?

Really2n2 2 points 12 months ago

i7...

abe559 2 points 13 months ago

Case badge says i5, post says i7, what is it?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Its a i7. I took a couple pics from a previous rig that is basicly the same setup from a few weeks ago. Sorry for the confusion.

James710 2 points 6 months ago

Why so many SSD's!!!!

cbables10 2 points 5 months ago

Nice, I love the green.

PickItApart 1 point 13 months ago

Your builds are always impressive. Why the Corsair 500W PSU? Also, why not H80i?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks so much! the 500w psu was dirt cheap 30 bucks on-sale online and idk about the h80 or h60 to be completely honest ive never personally used a h80. maybe ill try a h80 next build!

onlinefreak [1 Build] 2 points 13 months ago

I ordered the H80 for a Prodigy case and found that the radiator is just too fat and gets in the way in such a small case (maybe you can mash it up in there somehow but I just wanted some extra space), especially if you want two fans on it. Ended up returning the H80 and got the H60, fits exactly how I want.

fsma92 [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

That's probably the highest WEI I've ever seen..

Amazing build :)

So many SSDs!

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

lol he could have went with X4 128s lol

Jimmy 1 point 13 months ago

Either way that's a huge budget for storage. I don't even have one SSD yet lol

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

no computer should be equipped with out an ssd.. once you get one you will ask your self what you have been doing all these years ... lol

Jimmy 1 point 13 months ago

Believe me I plan on getting one as soon as possible XD

lost42 1 point 13 months ago

I want to see whats behind the graphics card cable management is difficult with this case

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

i will post more pics later tonight if the inside. thanks!

SIRmisterD 1 point 13 months ago

What camera are you using?

Solid, solid, solid, solid build. Nice.

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

Samsung Galaxy s4 13MP cam

SIRmisterD 1 point 13 months ago

Well I guess that makes sense, a 13MP camera should be that good. lol.

ZippyPenguin 1 point 13 months ago

Hakumisoso [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

why is the cpu @ 3.4 ghz?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Build is for a client. I don't overclock unless they want me to.

Hakumisoso [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

but stock speed is 3.5 ghz

ReDnAx1991 [6 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

imnotcrazy777 [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

I freaking love this, looks really awesome. Green is my favorite color, so bonus points for that. GREAT JOB.

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Thanks man dude!

gseyffert [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

Veryyyy nice. I definitely want an itx build... Those bitfenix cases are really, really sexy.

1lowrado2136 [1 Build] 1 point 13 months ago

if you paint the gpu cover it would look sick!

Xxjackhark1xX 1 point 13 months ago

Hey man, nice build! I'm trying to build with the prodigy as well, but I was just wondering where you would put the radiator for the cooler in the case?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 2 points 13 months ago

thanks! and it would all depend on what cooler. if your going with a single 120MM rad like the h60 or even a 140MM i would mount it on the rear. if its a h100i X2 120MM rad. i would either mount on top remove the cd drive bay or the front and that still requires removing the drive bay.

Xxjackhark1xX 1 point 13 months ago

yeah it's an h60 too haha xD thanks man!

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

np:)

construction [3 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

3 SSDs...seems legit

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

yes its a must for rendering.

construction [3 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

I'm a video editor, but I've never seen the need for 3 SSDS, what are you rendering????

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

this is a build for a client. im not rendering anything. may i ask do you know what a raid configuration is? If your a video editor you should really look in to upgrading your system to a raid configuration you benefit allot from it makes rendering 100X smoother.

bnsfup1 1 point 13 months ago

What was the color of the paint you used on those fans? I was going to do a build like this with the green prodigy and was thinking about painting some corsair fans to match the lime green color scheme, and this is exactly what I had in mind!

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 0 points 13 months ago

http://www.valsparpaint.com/en/find-the-right-product/interior/spray-paint/premium-enamel-spray-paint.html

Gloss Luscious Green

Bought at Lowes!

hope this helps and good luck ! let me know when you have completed .:)

bnsfup1 1 point 13 months ago

Sweet! Will definitely use this in my next build. BTW, here is a look for what I had in mind: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1g6RI Not as impressive as this one, I know, but I tried to make the best out of what I wanted and what I could get in a limited budget. Will definitely be upgrading parts as time goes on, plus adding those Corsair fans :)

LookTopHats [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

I know im not the person that did this build, but just a little advice. Personally i think you should use 2x4gb ram slots as you will then take advantage of that dual power thingy that ram does, unless of course you were to buy another 8gb in due time. Hope this helps!

bnsfup1 1 point 13 months ago

I was planning on buying another stick of ram to make it 16gb. It would be cheaper in the long run to go this route. Any other comments? Also, I don't mind that you aren't the OP. I take comments from anyone and everyone.

LookTopHats [2 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

Looks beautiful, can i have plox? ;)

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 13 months ago

That is beautiful

lrosiak [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Why not the Crucial 1TB SSD for $600?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

He wanted a RAID configuration

ND1Razor [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

I am currently waiting to pull the trigger on my prodigy build (first ever). I was wondering how well your PSU fit into the case? Iv head some psus have a bit of trouble.

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 12 months ago

Fits perfect. Just make sure you plug in what ever cords you need in to the PSU before feeding the PSU in the case. because its too hard to plug in once its already in there. But it fits perfect and look's great. and newegg is having good rebate deals on them at the moment. Good luck on your build !

ND1Razor [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

I see, thank you very much!

tshombe123 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Nice build! I'm new to the PC world and i'm wondering if you had to buy any other cables for your PSU since it's a semi modular

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

Nope all the cables came with the power supply. But if you want the chord extension you will have to buy them separately. Good luck on your build! Thanks!

viper_sailer 1 point 10 months ago

i5 sticker with i7?????

petarpetar367 1 point 4 months ago

yes i just noticed that ??

synmiru 1 point 9 months ago

Hey just a quick question, how is that ASRock MoBo performing?

I'm on the fence about getting the same MoBo you have but if it performs greatly then I'll grab it.

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

Deff the mobo is best bang for your buck. Handles ocing very well. Campatable up to 2800mhz ram also has bluetooth/wireless network built in. Goodluck on your build!

synmiru 1 point 9 months ago

Oh yeah? Thanks. I went ahead and bought that MoBo. How about CPU OCing?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

That's going to really depend on how lucky you got on your CPU. But the board is easy to OC case its Asrock basically dummy proof :)

synmiru 1 point 9 months ago

Right. Thanks man. I was concerned more about the BIOS.

SgtTherin [1 Build] 1 point 9 months ago

Wow! I'm thinking about a prodigy now bc of you. I am digging the aesthetics and how the gpu is displayed in the window. Amazing build and your others are just breathtaking. +1

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 9 months ago

ha thanks so much <3

BrysonMcGuire 1 point 8 months ago

um, Green. It looks amazing

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 7 months ago

Tahnks!

TheGeck0 1 point 8 months ago

How well does the psu fit since its modular?

domzlol [Submitter] [9 Builds] 1 point 7 months ago

Pefect

Maroon 1 point 7 months ago

Seems like you are a big fan of BitFenix Prodigy. You have great color scheme, great cable management, and I would seriously like to buy from you bro. I can never build anything as spectacular as this. +1

EpicEditsBySaz 1 point 6 months ago

Is the beast still alive? I hav the same PSU and people tell me that it's too low or just enough but overall that i should have ogt a higher wattgae one

here's my list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2TNaY

What's your take on this bro?

Amazing pc by the way.

irunthangs 1 point 6 months ago

I heard you have a hard time with semi and full modular power supplies is this true?

Sirkassad 1 point 6 months ago

I'm looking at the BetFenix prodigy as well as the Lian Li PC-Q28B but to be honest I'm leaning towards the Lian Li because I think ( stress on the word 'think') that it can hold 4 HDDs with an ASUS GTX770 card and also an SSD. If someone knows for sure please tell me. With that video card in the prodigy I'm pretty sure you are limited to 2 HDDs correct? If so how many SSDs can you install in the Prodigy with the GTX770 and 2 HDDs?

thomas76943 [1 Build] 1 point 6 months ago

Are those green corsair fans painted or did you buy them that colour? I can't find any green ones - only the blue/red/white/black ones. Thanks

NickHammer [1 Build] 1 point 5 months ago

why less ssd and more gpu?

ITneto 1 point 5 months ago

Hi, I loved your build, I am new to this, and i have a questions... is 500w psu enough for this? I mean you have a high-end gpu and lot of storage.. Thanks

FlusherBox 1 point 5 months ago

Oh my god pure beauty

SpartanxApex7 [1 Build] 1 point 4 months ago

Sweet build! The only thing i would recommend if you upgrade is a little higher power supply. Maybe the corsair 600w at least. I know its a little bit more money but trust me its definitely worth it. Other than that great build! :)

_Dan_ 1 point 4 months ago

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3msTS Hi domzlol I LOVE! your builds and was wondering if the computer i linked is a good mini-itx build. Im on a budget.

petarpetar367 1 point 4 months ago

nice build but you could throw in gtx 780 ti and a 2 tb hdd

jmit6 1 point 4 months ago

Have you run into any problems with your MOBO?

xNightCaster 1 point 4 months ago

GTX 770 in a 2K build? :/ Other than that, nice build, loving the colors.

navyseal470@gmail.com 1 point 4 months ago

overall nice build the green color looks awesome, can you tell me the name of the monitor and were you got it

game4ever07 1 point 3 months ago

nice and good looking, but the 3 ssd just would be a waste of money. Why wouldn't you get H100i instead?

vagtg [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Very nice build. You are an artist man! Green is my favorite color. Hope you see my build and make a review

Impolo [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Nice build! I have an h81 asrock motherboard and the same PSU, but my 24 pin connector won't fit in, even if I put a lot of force on it. How much force did you have to put on it?

drobin02 1 point 3 months ago

What type of water did you use for water cooling

navyseal470@gmail.com 1 point 2 months ago

were did you get this monitor? I love your build

BlastXin 1 point 1 month ago

yeah, RAID SSD and touchscreen monitor!
