Our past few builds have been a bit on the pricey end - $10k and $3k. For this build we dropped the budget down to $1200, but actually ended up around $1100.
The decision to not overclock the CPU was deliberate. For an extra $100+, it'd be viable to switch out the CPU and motherboard and add an aftermarket cooler. In the end, I think we still ended up with a clean, modest gaming build.
We evaluated using an AMD-based GPU, but due to the current crypto-mining environment the prices were too high to be practical.
NZXT kindly provided the H440 for this build, and I have to say it was very, very nice to work with. The cable management with this case is phenomenal. I'm a fan.
