I built this PC this past Christmas mainly to be a gaming rig. Even though I built it on Christmas, I ordered most of my parts over Black Friday weekend. I tried to be patient and get the best deals possible. The gold ram matches perfectly with the motherboard and the H80i (refurbished) looks very nice in my opinion. I'm glad I bought the Noctua fan to replace the stock H80i fans. It is very quiet and high quality. Also the gtx780 handles nearly everything I throw at it. If I could do it all again I would build it all smaller and use a smaller case. The components with a price of $0 I bought with my accumulated credit card points so they really didn't cost me anything. If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment.

That is VERY clean. The part choices are great as well. You'll have lots of fun with this.

+100 if I could.

Damn, that's one clean build! Nice job on the cable management. I also love your color scheme of the gold and the black.

Clean, streamlined cable management. Color coordination is excellent. You might consider 'clipping' the ends of the white cable ties if cable routing is done. +1 for a super clean look.

Awesome color combinations! Sweet-looking build you go yourself there! +1

love the build and the cable management, only question i got is.. how come you didn't stick with push and pull on the H80i?

redrumurder submitter 1 Build 1 point 33 months ago

That was mainly for looks. I didn't want the fan to be visible in the window. Also with only one fan in pull it would be easier to clean. The noctua fan does a great job by itself and doesn't make me need another.

Painwithin 2 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

ah ok, never used Noctua fans yet myself, was just curious.

pegotico 2 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

the best fans!!! Some ppl don't like the looks though.. +1 for such a great build

Painwithin 2 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

i dont really care about the looks of the fans aslong as they work as there suppose too, fans can be hidden most of the time... lol but if they work good or better then most fans, its worth it.

pegotico 2 Builds 1 point 33 months ago

well I do like how they look and the way they perform!!

What a beefy video card. Must run like a dream! Almost the same build as me, other than my $10 mouse and keyboard. Never had a need for gaming peripherals. But nice build!

It is always nice to see someone else who appreciates cable management, even behind the tray. Excellent job.

Nice and clean. Great job. How is that monitor BTW? I hear 1080p at 27" is pixelated. What are your ( or anyone else's for that matter) thoughts?

redrumurder submitter 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

I like the size of the monitor and I think 27" was the perfect size for my desk. I don't think 1080p is much of an issue for me because I've never had a display higher than 1080p but what I do wish I got instead was an IPS monitor. When I look at the text under programs on the desktop it does look a slightly pixelated but when I'm gaming I don't notice at all.

TooGood 1 Build 1 point 32 months ago

Alright, thanks for the reply, I'll probably go for 25" then.

Hows the H80i working out for you? Just got a refurb myself, my first refurb water cooler purchase.

Also, the hoses seem really short, not giving you a lot of mounting options. Thoughts?

redrumurder submitter 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

I actually had a small issue with the h80i. About 1 in 5 times when I'd start my pc it would make a grinding noise for about a minute but then it would go away. I found out it's a software issue where the pump would sometimes start at a low rpm and take awhile to crank up to full speed. Personally, I don't find the hoses short because I'm able to mount the h80i everywhere except the front of my case. I was a little nervous buying a refurb water cooler but it turned out great so hopefully that will be reassuring for you.

arrwhieayen 1 point 27 months ago

Cool. Thanks for the head up and reply.

Did they fix the software issue with an update?

redrumurder submitter 1 Build 2 points 27 months ago

Sadly no but then again only a few people have this issue with their pump.

College Build! More like gaming rig! A++++ on cable management. Look at HP's "Student" desktops. They are crazy under powered.

18hockey 1 Build -2 points 33 months ago

get a better mechanical keyboard but other than that, it's a great build
