Red Tempest PART 2

Hello pcpartpicker community!

Some of you may remember me from this build [ http://pcpartpicker.com/b/K3V ], and now I'm back with the whole complete everything included build!

For those who remember me and are wondering, I went with the MSI 3GD5 780 instead of a 780 Lightning just so it would for sure clear the hard drive bays. Plus I'm not a die hard overclocker so it works just fine for me. Also the Kraken G10 bracket is a nice addition!

This has been about a 9 month build, buying piece by piece when money was available and the sale was great, monitoring everything on here to make sure I get everything I want for the best price possible.

I primarily just game on here, and the 1440p monitor so far has been spectacular. I've only had it for 2 days (with only one dead pixel, for those who are curious how it turned out. Which is so absolutely tiny and you can not see it unless the screen is black).

It's been a long road to get to this point, and is my first build. A year ago I'd of had no idea how this thing goes together, but between research on reddit and here with some google searches, I got to figuring out how this whole computer building thing works, and came up with this build, and I could not be more happy with it.

I plan on buying a new chair in the coming weeks, so don't rag me for it!

Hope all you guys enjoy, constructive criticism and questions welcome! Don't slam me though please.

Nice build! I think you're the first person I've seen using the Kraken G10. +1 Oh, and nice cat too! :)

Came for the build, stayed for your cute cat.

lB5S4l [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks guy! Yeah Goku is pretty awesome, except he just lays down in the middle of what I'm doing.

SomeBlueGuy [1 Build] 1 point 11 months ago

That's exactly what my 3 cats do.

He's a tabby right?

You are correct.

how well is the 780 doing at 1440p? and also, what game was that you're playing in pic 8?

lB5S4l [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

So far its done pretty good. I've only had 2 days to experiment with it, but Borderlands 2(game in picture 8, with Mechromancer DLC character) on highest settings it usually hangs out around 90 fps, during heavy combat it'll sometimes go down to 50, but that's acceptable. BF4 I haven't had a chance to monitor fps, but it runs pretty smooth on ultra everything in multiplayer even during heavy combat. So so far, so good.

Oooohhhh... That cable management!

lB5S4l [Submitter] [2 Builds] 1 point 11 months ago

If you're talking about the station cable management, then please excuse it haha, cause it travels to LAN parties pretty regularly(the tower anyway) and I haven't had a chance to manage them.

Pclynn 1 point 11 months ago

No! I think it's really good! If you have a chance, could you maybe look at my saved build and see what you think? It would be greatly appreciated! http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Pclynn/saved/3Syj

Ok thanks! Well just by looking at it, I would want to ask what exactly do you plan to do with it? Like just heavy gaming and browsing? Or maybe some 3D rendering or video editing? Also, I would heavily suggest a Solid State Drive, it makes for spectacular boot times, reboot times and the event that you need to, and some general tasks are faster. And if you get one of any size like 256gb, you can put some games on it, so that load screens are extremely minimal, but obviously when size goes up price skyrockets. Anyway, let me know!

Good build and color scheme.

And was interesting to flip threw the PC pics and at the very end suddenly see a cat... lol

lB5S4l [Submitter] [2 Builds] 2 points 11 months ago

Yeah, as a guy who's been on Reddit a while, it's almost mandatory to include a cat in with your build. So when I was uploading the pics, that one was in there from when he decided to lay in the middle of the photo shoot. Also, thanks for the props!

I've got a solid state and a hard disk, for a damn good deal too at the time. I'm happy with it.
