Description

System mainly built for gaming, virtualization testing/training as well as coding. It has worked amazing, not a single issue since getting everything installed and overclocked; she has performed above and beyond what I was expecting! Only thing to be hesitant about is when using the Phantek with the R4E motherboard, you'll need to wrap the wire brackets (that hold the fans) with electrical tape as they touch the backside of any card you put in PCI-e slot 1; raw wire + backside of PCB = bad.

Excellent build and parts list I love the way that case and CPU cooler look this build is a definite +1 from me but it pains me to see that you bought Apple's overpriced monitors. A 21:9 monitor or two 1080p monitors with a 1440p monitor in the middle would have served you much better for the price.

JaneGoodall 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Since he codes, he likely owns a Macbook Pro too and Apple monitors include a great docking station for Mac laptops. When you factor in the cost of a docking station, they're close to similarly specced monitors and have much higher build quality.

Why not buy a docking station and cheaper monitors? I still think a triple monitor setup would beat two overpriced monitors any day

JaneGoodall 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

What distro do you code on? Or is that OS X I see? :)

Hakumisoso 2 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Looks like windows 8.1 to me.

Tezliov 1 Build 2 points 9 months ago

Why didn't you name it Second Wind? You had a great opportunity. :(

The computer is amazingly beautiful and the desk setup its coupled with complements it for a stunning product +1 (and much if I could) :)

SAV1OUR 1 point 9 months ago

still think this is odd case every time i see it

Wow someone has a ton of money. Ditching a 690 for 2 780 tis. Not to mention 2 pricey 1440p displays.

Excellent. Love the monitor stands.

OMG, you're back! I commented on your last one and still have it saved on reddit as my favorite build.

Are you using a DAC with your cans or just onboard audio?

YourLocalPCNoob 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

I see a schiit magni+modi and HE400

Mirrorworld 3 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

Why don't you sand the green off the 780 TI's LED's, they are white underneath and would go amazingly.

Spbach 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Lovelovelovelove the headphones. +1 for the build also.

okay we understand, you got the money. lol just kidding, very cool setup

bigmak181 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Real quick I saw your original build which had one GTX 980, how is the performance of one of those versus two 780 Ti's? Why not just two 980s?

myriad submitter 2 Builds 1 point 4 months ago

It was actually a GTX 690 and I upgraded to two 780Tis. Performance obviously improved, but I wouldn't say groundbreaking-ly (especially with how much I ended up spending) so since I picked up a second monitor. I'm probably going to move to the 980Tis once those drop due to how nVidia decided to put multiple DisplayPorts on the back of a single card. Right now, I have to go with 1Card:1Monitor since the 780Tis only have a single DP.

Aaahh. I must've misread it :) Great build and thx for replying!

How is the PH-TC14PE? do you like it? recommend it or maybe i can get the single fan version PH-TC12DX?

myriad submitter 2 Builds 1 point 6 days ago

I love it! The only thing better would be a custom water cooling setup with a 540RAD+the works. Its a bit of a pain to initially get into the FT02 case, and it DOES limit the memory you can utilize, but its a beast for keeping the older Sandybridge-E CPU nice and cool.

Ntress 1 point 5 days ago

yes, actually i already bought noctua nh-d15 but im afraid this colors will be ugly for me so maybe ill return it and get the phanteks.

you can check my build, what would you do?
