Description

Hey guys! This was my first build, and i had so much fun doing it! I bought all my parts on sale, so the total price for the PC was a little short of $700 . The monitor was $250 , so i spent almost $1000 on the entire thing!

this wasn't intended to be used for heavy gaming, mostly for Photoshop and general use.

Why the gtx 960 one may ask? - i sorta jumped the gun here. it went on sale early for 190$. I thought it was a great deal and jumped on that. Maybe by next year ,ill sli. ( if i can get the second card for cheap).

Other than that no problems thus far.

note: i had the mouse and keyboard before, which i used with mt laptop. They were not factored into the price of this . All parts worked well, and it looks awesome.

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

looks really good. works really well. its really quiet. Installation wasn't too much fun,but otherwise its great.

Motherboard

good audio, and features in general. no probs with this. looks good as well.

Storage

fast, but is no samsung. that said, it gets the job done

Case

easy case for a firsts timer! Looks great as well!

Power Supply

so far so good. Seems to be of great quality. only downside is the ugly power cables. Forced me to buy a colored extension cable. other than that, good stuff

Case Fan

silent and sexy. Gets the job done

Monitor

awesome display. speakers arent good, and no height adjustment. but its not bad enough to take away a star. hard to beat this at its price point!

hey, well i stuck with this board because of its overclocking/sli capability. I also got it on a sale for 103$ for the ram, i wanted something that was clocked higher than 1600mhz. This was decent. try to stay away from corsair CX series. They are low tier, and have a poor build quality. i got my psu for 40$ on sale, and its of much better quality than the CX edition. So no regrets!

No probs with the case, hdd or cpu either. but id suggest getting a mobo that supports overclocking, otherwise you'll be wasting your cpu's potential :)

Very nice build! I actually liked to see you used a mATX board instead of going full ATX. I'm thinking of upgrading my case to one of those since they look awesome, but was afraid it would look awful because my mobo is a mATX one. Now I have no doubts it can look great.

Nice job on the color choices, the red details add an elegant look to the PC :)

Photoshop runs smoothly? 3d n stuff?

dr-carrrot submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

Smooth as a baby's backside!. The Photoshop splash screen which normally lasted around 30 seconds before....now lasts only 2.:)

Does that CPU cooler fan come over the RAM? If it does, how much clearance would you say there is?

dr-carrrot submitter 1 Build 2 points 14 months ago

If you install the fan in that side, it covers a slot. But there is space for low profile ram. I believe I would be able to use the same ram. Though, you'd need to remove the fan to be able to install the ram, haha.

cpenland 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

How much was that sleeve kit? Or is it just the 24pin cable?

dr-carrrot submitter 1 Build 1 point 14 months ago

It was just the 24 pin, which cost about 12$
