Well.. Finally finished..

First time piecing one together since 2007 - figured it was time. That radiator was a pain to install - the videos make it look so simple! I was going to install it as pull/exhaust, but decided to install it in push/intake as recommended in the manual. Had to orient the hoses towards the front of the case to avoid any clearance issues with the rear fan.

I think I made a mistake applying the IC Diamond paste because temperatures are a little on the high side (around 80C) under load. It's overclocked to 4.6GHz stable.

The 780 Ti runs like a champ and overclocks very well. Able to get it to an offset of +131 on the GPU and +300 on the memory. It boosts to 1241MHz at around 86C, fan at around 80%.

Overall, the system isn't loud at all. It's tolerable. Full load it's about 45dBa at my normal sitting position. My refrigerator makes more noise.

Glad to be here! Love this case. It was either this or the 750D.. but I decided I wanted something different..

Very nice build! I really like all the selections of the parts!

gskill ram any good...never liked the look of those dimms and that name is well...anyways awesome build love the 540 design. Was it easy to build in?

Dweller7777 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 12 months ago

The RAM is solid. I'm not going to be overclocking or overvolting it, and it was on sale. I was trying to go for a red-theme, but as you can see the giant green GEFORCE GTX logo kinda ruined that.. lol Besides.. I've never been one for flashy lights. I want all my light to come from my monitor. :)

The Air 540 is a pleasure to build in. Cable management is done by default.

So many modders have to change out leds to suit their builds and usually that means cracking cards open. Manufactures should supply multi leds or none at all. My 760 lights up blue around the 100mm fans kinda annoying.

TNTrocks123 [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

how are able to put cd's in sideways???

SrgtMacfly [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

If you pay close attention there are slots where the CD rests when the case is sideways, doesnt matter the CD drive either, they all have it

+1 Very nice build. Every time I see one of these Air 540 build I get more and more jealous, but my Define R4 is serving me well so no reason to swap yet.

Godammit all these 780 Ti builds are making me wish I hadn't bought so many games on steam and saved up.

edit: nice build too, completely forgot to mention that.

Really awesome build. Mine will be similar, but I will get the 780. I cannot splurge the extra 200$ although I wish I could.

You may have applied the thermal paste incorrectly, another option is your mounting of the h100i may not be great. I had that issue a previous build. Try remounting it making sure to get adequate pressure. Just my two cents.. Nice build! Love the Air 540.

Dweller7777 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

Yeah, something's up.. I re-applied the paste but get the same result. In the mean time I put the CPU back to stock and am gonna try again another time. Overclocking the CPU really isn't much benefit to me right now.

Any good sites or guides on how to properly install the fans and radiator on the H110? It feels like some of the air is escaping out the top of the case..

Seeing more and more 540 builds. Looks nice. Wondering why you have your HDD and SSD in the main compartment. Aren't there racks behind the motherboard tray for your drives?

muellerdillon [1 Build] 1 point 12 months ago

+1 for the air 540 and great specs, however i would be extremely uncomfortable with that temp of 80c, i would be redoing the thermal paste, but that is technically within the processors limits, so "to each his own." I would be freaking out lol XD
