Description

Very pleased with my first build. It took me a while to put together just because I was extremely careful to make sure I didn't miss anything. Cable management could have been better, but it'll do the trick. Windows boots up stupid-quick, and Battlefield 3 runs smooth as butter on very high settings. I'm very happy with this machine.

Update

Overclocked this puppy to 4.4GHz and so far seeing no issues with stability. I ran it through about 6 hours of stress test of Prime95 (large TTF) and the max temperature one core it hit was 73C, but the whole CPU averaged about 66 at 100% stress.

2nd Update

Installed a second Samsung 840 SSD and a Corsair H110 hydro cooler. The temperature differences under load are more than satisfying. Results in Prime95 are in the second photo with temps.

WHITE POWER

All jokes aside, case is a bit overkill. The really difference between the 400R and the 500R is the fan on the side. The fan on the side is to keep cold air on multiple card set ups, as they do get hot. It'll help some with a single card, but not enough to justify the increase in price. If you got it for aesthetics, though, then it's all good! I would buy it for aesthetics. (well, the black one)

Lol! I'm laughing at the unintentional joke between you saying "white power" and "I'd buy the black one" :P

"Black one is faster"

That joke has gotten old...

xBlood_Monkey [9 Builds] 3 points 16 months ago

Black one doesn't work though...

I chose the 500R for mostly the aesthetics. I liked the look of the side LED fan.

Downvoted for buying a case based on aesthetics, classy pcpp.

Cuhrode [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

The black 500R was cheaper than the black 400R when I bought mine, so aesthetics + an extra fan for cheaper? Sure thing.

I'm glad your cable management is better than your spelling :P

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 3 points 16 months ago

At first I went through and re-read my description and was thinking "what did I spell wrong?!" ...ligthening...DOH!

jggondek [1 Build] 2 points 14 months ago

Dood, this is like, the best build I've seen on this site. Very balanced, in my opinion.

Really sick build! got BF4 yet? if so how does the 670 run it on ultra (thinking about running it in my build) and also watched the video... absolutely sick +1 for everything

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 8 months ago

It dips below 60FPS frequently on ultra, so I play with almost all settings on High now with a few on medium just to maintain well over 60FPS.

No clue, just came with the room.

wickedplayer494 [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

Sick build. I have the exact same case as you, and it was a dream to work with.

Hey that's an excellent build, you've got everything covered. Nice CAS 7 RAM sticks. =)

I see you play FPS games. How is that monitor for them? Are you happy with it or do you wish you had went with another?

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

I picked those sticks specifically for the CAS 7! Not sure how I feel about the monitor yet because I've been out of PC gaming so long, this is the first time I've ever had an HD monitor. So far so good, but I don't really have anything to compare it to.

I'm think about going for the Samsung 840 SSD as well. Did this come with all the screws and SATA III cable included? Thanks.

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 16 months ago

I ordered one from newegg. I'm certain it came with mounting screws, but I don't believe it came with the SATA cable. I freaked out but fortunately my mobo came with two SATA cables so I was covered.

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Correction! Sorry if it's too late, but I ordered a second 840 and it did not come with screws or cables. The case came with the screws, and I had to order extra SATA III cables.

That is a nice build you got there. How is that Rosewill WiFi adapter?

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 14 months ago

Haven't used it yet. My current house is wired with Cat6 so I'm just using the onboard LAN

junjaew [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Awesome Build, I am using the same case as well, and my cable management is BAD.... this really inspires me to open that baby up again and do the cables all over again :(

I was wondering how the power supply is doing for you? I had Raidmax 630W but it could not run my build, so I had to get 850W one. But it looks like it is running well for you.

+1

joecayse [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

I've had no problems whatsoever with the TX650. I will probably go for 850 in the future when I get another GPU to run in SLI.

jchamb49 [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

nice build, corny name. I would've went with something like arctic blade or lightstorm or something

Bartmanicus [1 Build] 0 points 16 months ago

You have the same monitor and keyboard as me :D, good build
