Colossus Mini

Hello everyone this is my second build and first mini itx computer that I have done. It took me a couple of hours to build everything and even a couple of tense moments had me doubting my abilities to not fry everything on accident. In the end though I'm really glad with my build the only thing that bothered me was the fact that most of my parts went on sale on newegg a week after building everything. -_-

*CPU: My first Intel cpu and im really glad with it,seems to be having no problem running my games. I will upgrade to an i7 down the road or to the champ the i5-4670k

*CPU Cooler: This thing was a pain to work with but it turned out great in the end my computer runs almost silent compared to my first build (P.S. I got the H50 not the H55, it wasn't listed on here)

*Motherboard: This is a beast of a motherboard, very high quality smells like it too. I really like all the included software too and bios is easy to navigate

*Memory: Not much to say, it works and it's from corsair (F.Y.I. I though it was going to have a matte finish but it's more of a metallic red)

*Storage: The PNY ssd is fast and the WDBC is a great drive as well no complaints so far

*Video Card: Amazing card destroys anything I throw at it plus it's got that awesome titan cooler

*Case: I was torn between this and the prodigy but went with this because I like the light bar, the colors are a lot more vivid and rich in person

*PSU: It's corsair and it has more than enough watts, only thing was I really didn't use the modular cables as most of the wired ones were the ones I needed

*Optical Drive: This is one part that didn't make the final build, but in the short time that it was in it worked and was pretty standard

*OS: It's going to take some getting use to but so far so good

*Case Fans: These fans are cool quiet and a constant shade of red that goes great with the case lighting

Some other details I got a bit freak out with the fan control because it turned off most of my fans and would turn them on depending on how hot my computer was, because of this my computer was almost dead silent.I have all my fans running on manual mode at some decent speeds and my computer still runs pretty silent

I wish this case had a window to show off the graphics card ):

I thing the stock cooler is the best looking cooler.

Great build for the price, and you kept it pretty clean looking +1

Thanks i tried to work the optical drive in there but it was just to messy and it bothered me even though I couldn't see the cables

Nice to see a Colossus ITX build on here :) I'm almost done putting a custom water cooling loop in my Phenom ITX.

View my completed build.

Lol I realize you had posted that nearly a year ago. How's it holding up?

plgdg [1 Build] 1 point 1 month ago

I've actually updated it since then. New chassis (In Win D-Frame Mini) and new rigid acrylic water cooling loop. I'll be posting an updated build in the near future. I've just been super busy lately lol.

Regardless, it was a great little box. I'm now using the Phenom for my home file server. It's the perfect chassis for it :)

I, for one, love the smell of new electronics.

Sweet build. The case didn't really appeal to me but you made it work +1

ChrisLouie 1 point 10 months ago

With such a nice mobo and video card i wouldve opted for an unlocked processor. But your choice nice build

Silva461 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Yeah I plan on upgrading down the road to an i7 unlocked just waiting for the prices to go down, thanks for the input

was it any trouble fitting in the parts? any lack of space? im considering getting a colossus m for my build

Silva461 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Had no problem with the power supply the only thing that can not really be put away neatly was the front audio and front io connectors since they're mounted on the left side panel also if you go with an optical drive it can get a bit clustered

itsyourboy 1 point 10 months ago

Ah I see. I am going for an optical drive, so would I be better off getting a Phenom, or Prodigy? But awesome build!

Silva461 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

Honestly if you find a power supply that's fully modular and the same size or shorter you shouldn't have trouble getting good cable management Good luck with your build looking forward to seeing it:D

itsyourboy 1 point 10 months ago

Thanks! But what do you mean same size? Same as what?

Silva461 [Submitter] [1 Build] 1 point 10 months ago

The same depth as my power supply or shorter if you want more space to tuck away cables

jpetersen77 1 point 10 months ago

Is that the cooler that comes with the card? I just want to make sure it is before i buy it...

Silva461 [Submitter] [1 Build] 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah Buddy I was afraid at first but even the description on superbiiz for it said with titan cooler

jpetersen77 1 point 10 months ago

Nice I was going to get the one from Nvidia but I'll get this one instead
