Description

Hey guys,

I just wanted to show you the new build. Let me know if you have any questions... I'm too lazy to write a whole thing out :) *Also, I didn't configure the LEDS yet so that's why the GPU is orange.

much love.

P.S. - Gigabyte XTREME GAMING Sweat Band... are you kidding??!?! hahahaha

I don't know how to tell you this... but you built it upside down!

Better start over.

=P

Hahaha.

Gooberdad 7 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Now that's funny.

Shakaron 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

It sounds like a joke, but it is really upside down. I don't like this set up. (Tell me I'm a jerk, but still, I don't like it.)

Why? Hot air rises

Correct me, if I'm wrong:

  1. As far as I understand the back and bottom fans are exhaust fans. So they are supposed to get rid of the hot air. But the thing is that it's the cool air that's on the bottom of the case, not the hot air...

  2. The front radiator and the fan is configured as intake. So it takes in cool air, pushed through the radiator and fills the case with hot air. Huh?!

  3. Due to the upside down setup the graphics card is upside down as well. So instead of getting the cooler air, it gets the warmer one from the top.

  4. Arctic Silver 5 is used, which is highly overrated and in fact can burn onto your chips. :(

Don't get me wrong, it looks wonderful, and must work like a charm. Just the setup is quite counter-intuitive and a regular setup with the "correct" air flow would provide better cooling, longer life span. Especially without that thermal paste.

(I do not vote it down though. I'm not a jerk. XD)

ColoradoJones12 2 points 11 months ago

Even though hot air does rise it does not affect cooling in a PC much, HardwareCanucks reviewd this case and flipped it so that it is like a standard ATX case and the difference in temperature difference was 1 degree

Shakaron 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Yes, 1 degree here (case), a couple of degree there (sub-optimal radiator mounting), some more later (GPU taking hotter air, overrated thermal compound, etc), and we're already 5-10 degrees hotter than it could be. I'm not saying, it's terrible, I'm just saying it could have been done better.

E.g. look at Corsair's own web site about a proposed layout: http://www.corsair.com/en-gb/~/media/AF446140374142FA87C6BC2C50227F80.ashx

0BSiD1AN 1 point 11 months ago

Pulling air in through the radiator does not make that much of a difference. JayzTwoCents did a video in it.

Shakaron 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks for the video (I've found it on YouTube).

Again, I never said anything would die of heat. :) I just said that a different setup could have ended up with less heat inside the case. I mean if someone cares to replace the factory included thermal paste, they might have considered the warm air from the radiators filling the case instead of the exterior.

Nice man! Looks great! Where'd you get the magic AIO tube wrap things?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 4 points 11 months ago

Thanks man!

http://www.primochill.com/product/primochill-anti-kink-coil-12in-11mm-for-12in-od-tubing-white/

Cheapest, best mod out there for AIO. Weird, not many people do it / know about it!

Bespers 1 point 11 months ago

I wanted to do something like this but couldn't find a way. I was almost going to wrap a tape spiral on it xD

Thanks a ton!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

No prob dude! I know I was trying to figure something out too, thank god I scrambled across a build with one!

JafferAli 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

your build makes it look good

Im glad you have introduced me to this!

Ghrolt 1 Build 4 points 11 months ago

I was checking out this build when my gf walked in on me. She asked "Wouldnt an upside down build not work? I mean, the air and stuff...Where does it go?"

I'm glad she's pretty...At least.

Tennis987 4 points 11 months ago

So many good parts and amazing build with a huge budget...buys a 970.

mlach 3 Builds 3 points 11 months ago

You might be better off flipping those bottom fans and making them intakes.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I thought about this for a long time... I know it sounds dumb but, of course, the exhaust side of the fan looks so much cooler for the bottom - I decided to just go for it and temps are actually super low: 20c - 25c (CPU) / 35c - 45c (GPU) !

Also, the case has some badass dust filters so I'm not super concerned about negative air pressure.

For now, I'll keep it like that but you do make a good point ugh... aesthetics or logic? lol

mlach 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I hadn't thought about the aesthetic side, and I'm a sucker for aesthetics. In the end, all that matters is how it works for you :D

Spoonboning 1 point 11 months ago

Just a thought but put the fans on exhaust and take a black sharpie to the writing on the fan center, not sue how that would look but it might work. Unless its the corsair logo you like, if so I understand.

Hp7242 1 Build 3 points 11 months ago

Your motherboard is upside down, ya pinecone! Nah, just kidding XD. Nice build, dude. Congrats on FEATURED build!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks man!! :) haha pinecone - i'm gonna use that from now on lol

FotherM 3 points 11 months ago

How come a 1050 watt power supply?

Seems beyond over kill for a single GPU,

Vauun 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Since he's spent so much on a fantastic CPU and everything else, I'm 99% sure he's planning on pascal or SLI.

FotherM 1 point 11 months ago

Still, he has the same power as my sli 980 ti hybrid rig

Interesting rig regardless

piemancoder 2 points 11 months ago

haha, right up there with you man! nothing better than an xtreme gaming sweatband to show off your elder wisdom :)

Mason54 11 Builds 3 points 11 months ago

I feel like their cheesy slogan for a cheesy "bonus" would be something along the lines of "We can keep our cards cool, but can you keep your cool?"

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

This is Gigabyte's contact number. +886-2-8912-4000

truerubberlegs 2 points 11 months ago

Very nice build except I would have went with (2 x 8gb) sticks of ram for the dual channel benefits. Still a really good build though.

jrhumphrey89 1 point 11 months ago

or just go 2011 socket and quad channel.

NitroOG 2 points 9 months ago

Not quite sure what you just said, but thanks! I'm planning on upgrading in the near future to sli this bad boy for some great 1440p. Much appreciated bro - and sure you won? haha :)

TechyinAZ 13 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Jipster69 is a very frequent user here on PCPP. Typically, he goes on sprees where he answers every single build post over so many days. :D

So beating him to a post is the new thing people have been doing. LOL.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I'm so confused lol but okay - I'll make sure I watch out for him aha

TechyinAZ 13 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

lol that's ok. I still don't get why people are doing that still, but ok whatever. :D

Your build looks really nice! The 600C is a great case!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

thanks man! yea... sounds weird.. :/ I'm loving it so far :)

optimusgaming 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I have the SAME GPU! Set it to blue and it looks amazing. Its nice that it can change to any color and the sweat band comes in handy for your desk... trust me lmao

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I know right? I'm in love. haha I guess you're right... just never wear it in public lol!

optimusgaming 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Of course not lol! Walk around with it like a badass

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

hahaha i'll tell ppl im sponsored by XTREME GAMING and im a pro

Meithen 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

The whole design of the case being upside down is pretty cool and unique.

Awesome build!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

thanks man! much appreciated! it was weird to build forsure - btw cable management is a lot easier tho w/ this design, the airflow was hard to figure out

Meithen 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I can see that, the front (radiator) is intake?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

yep, its the only intake - I know it can cause the air to be a little bit hotter but barely

Meithen 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I was concerned at first, then I saw your other comment with the temps, they seem fine!

Great build, once again.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

:) thanks man! yea luckily the temps are cooooooolll breezin'

NotoriousZIB 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

What is the benefit to flipping the case upside down?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

well i wanted the graphics card looking up for one, plus its unique and the pc is on the left side of my desk so I get to see the window :)

Corsair - "brings cool air directly to the components by eliminating obstruction from extra, unused drive bays. Direct air flow keeps fan noise to a minimum."

Luxazur 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

nice build!

I was a bit sticker-shocked when I saw 4600+ price tag and just a 6700K and 970, but then I saw the buttload of peripherals you included.

I'm surprised no-one has commented on the gpu, I would have thought that someone would have said something about an R9 390 being a better gpu at a cheaper price, especially considering the resolution you're running at. I'm not sure if anyone is making one with the RGB LED's though. Guess PCPP has gone full green team.

Nice look with the AIO tube wrap! I feel like I used to see that a lot, but I haven't seen it as much in the past few years. It looks very nice in this build!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

haha yea i love my accessories lol :)

I'm going with g-sync / I had a 290x in the past and wasnt pleased whatsoever... Nvidia this time around. I think the rgb's like this are pretty unique to Gigabyte except for flashing logos on other cards but the fan rings... ooh lala lol.... what do u mean by green team? sorry im kind of new here.

thanks btw - yea I don't see them that often anymore! Thanks again for the feedback, much appreciated man!

Matthewtina2015 1 point 11 months ago

The "green team" refers to nvidia. AMD is "red team"

Do you know if any 980 TIs are RGB? I'm looking for one to use in my build

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

So Gigabyte pretty much offers this same design of card as a 980 TI version, they also have another card that is RGB and has a cooler built in (hybrid) / Also EVGA's Kingpin 980ti is RGB & they just released a new shroud for their water cooled card (hybrid) that enables the gpu to have RGB and my god does this shroud look amazing - it came out a couple days ago! - http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=100-TC-0999-B9

Hope that helped :)

drumilpatel 1 point 11 months ago

Yeah its called the Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme waterforce or something like that.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

yes I think that's what it is... I'll find out now and I'm gonna link Matthew the parts for the hell of it

Luxazur 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

"Green team" is just a nickname for someone who favors Nvidia. "Red team" is the AMD equivalent.

yea, I haven't seen the fan rings before! the certainly are beautiful.

EDIT: dang, Matthew beat me to the explanation

Matthewtina2015 2 points 11 months ago

"dang, Matthew beat me to the explanation"

Priceless. Although you did explain it better

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

omg aren't I a dumbass of course that's what it means lol - thanks man! I'm loving the rings :)

HubbaMaBubba 0 points 11 months ago

Reference 290x? Despite the high temps, a 290x performs very similarly to a 980. You basically downgraded.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

:/ I guess so but all in all I couldn't stand it, did the job but those temps - sounding like a jet etc. no it was sapphire so pretty similar lol but i'm giving nvidia gpu's a shot again. looking to upgrade sli in near future or just wait for new card that's why. thanks for the feedback! :)

HubbaMaBubba 1 point 11 months ago

Was it blower style or dual fan? The blower cards are the ones that ran really hot. Asus just threw the 780ti cooler on theirs, so those were ****** as well.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

yea it was blower style... yea i bet they were "enter some profanity" too, lol :) haha

InAuDaBLe 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

You almost have the exact same build as me haha!

Really need to pick a Hue+ up for myself.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Man, I was so lucky I was waiting for weeks and I ended up late at night scrolling amazon and saw it was in stock! It went out of stock in like an hour :/ Good luck! Your build looks very nice I may say!

EnsisTheSlayer 1 point 11 months ago

I personally would invest in a better graphics card before storage and headphones, but it's still a very good build. I personally think you should've gone with one 2TB HDD instead of one 1TB and a 3TB HDD. Also I think you should have gone with a full tower case, but as I said before it's still a very good build. +1

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks for the feedback man, I used to have a 2TB Black and loved it but I agree the storage config is a little weird, I don't even know what I'm gonna do with the 1TB Drive (ordered it out of the blue - good deal) I'm waiting to upgrade when the new gpu's come out or get a second 970 in a few months... I agree with all of your points... thank you! And thanks for the compliment :)

EnsisTheSlayer 1 point 11 months ago

No problem! Everything else about your build is perfect, and it's good you got a good deal on the HDD.

drumilpatel 1 point 11 months ago

Great PC and beautifully built man. But a question. How did it feel to build a pc upside down?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

At first, it was very strange, but a challenge is always fun when building of course... I mean it felt straight forward except putting everything in upside down lol - the only thing that is tricky is the airflow in this case and figuring out exactly how to optimize it. I ended up going a more aesthetic route that turned out great actually when it came to temps... I will say though as someone else mentioned, I probably would have gotten even better temps if I put the two fans on the bottom as intakes but the fans look so good from the front! So I ended up mounting them as exhausts and the temps are still cool as beans. Also, a cool thing about this case is that there is an attic instead of a basement, the PSU actually exposes its fan down into the case which is awesome since it allows the heat coming from the GPU's fans to travel up & out of the case quickly! So there's my paragraph lol. Thanks for the compliment by the way, much appreciated :)

lividturbodude 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

very nice ! Luke, The force is strong with you, upside down but strong

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

<3 Are you my father lol

the_gaw 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

how does the 970 handle that massive resolution of 3440 by 1440? I have a 390 and want to get an ultrawide but am afraid my frame rates will suffer. do you recoomend it or should i go crossfire or get a higher end gpu before hand? Nice build btw

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

mmmm. If you are planning on upgrading when the new cards come out soon I would hold off on anything too expensive. its a big reason why I went with the 970 for now. It's fine but definitely something more powerful is always better! It definitely does the job man - no worries there at all! Thanks also :)

mixxie 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Sweet build...i like the psu quality

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

this psu is outstanding and I got it at a good deal, I think the price just rose up though... thanks for the compliment btw! :)

mixxie 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Yes it just rose up lol but its perfect to your build for future upgrades too =)

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

totally agree :)

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I explained all of that in a weird way haha

ABorderlineBuff 1 point 11 months ago

Great seeing someone do a decent build in this case. :D

Nice work! Love the AIO cooler white wrap! +1

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks dude! Much appreciated! :)

devildoginvu 1 point 11 months ago

Excellent theme man! Although if it was me I would have downgraded that PSU to save money ;) BUT more room for upgrades right?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

i feel you, i was definitely futureproofing this entire build besides the 970 - it just looked amazing :) Thanks for the compliment man! :)

Charmin 1 point 11 months ago

I want an Xtreme Gaming wrist band. +1

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Who doesn't? lol

NvidiaGirl 1 point 11 months ago

Blue is probably better!

Beautiful theme! My theme is going to be a night theme!

Why is the video card upside down?

Beorn1 2 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Wait for it...

LordEbola 1 point 11 months ago

The New Carbide 600c is inverted in design. Look it up

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

The build is inverted since this case is infact made upside down. LordEbola hit it on the head. Its the 600c by Corsair... look it up and you'll see why :)

qwertyK 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Yeah just did. The window is also on the right hand side.,....I like the look of the case but I'm not sure if I'd ant the font on everything upside down....I diagress....this is a great build hope you enjoy it and it lasts you for many years to come ;-)

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

right thats what I meant lol thanks man! I hope so! just in need of that pascal update!

treymiller 1 point 11 months ago

Anyone know how these awesome coils are installed? Does the h110 need to be taken apart or is the coil wrapped around it in another way?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

The coil is just wrapped around I think I will do a Youtube video demonstration on how I did it if it helps since I didn't see many :)

treymiller 1 point 11 months ago

Awesome! I just ordered them. Let me know if you do a video. Thanks!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

will do! you will be pleased :)

treymiller 2 points 11 months ago

Dude. They kick @$$. Best cheap mod ever. Thanks for the idea. I'll do a shoutout when I write up my build

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

awesome! so glad **** I still gotta do my video tut on it, it was so easy to install right?

lukeberger1 1 point 11 months ago

Hey absolutely LOVE this! Its a perfect build. Have you used it for hardcore gaming and how does the GPU handle games @ high settings? Also is DDR4-3000 overkill for gaming, in your opinion? Also how do you like the monitor and keyboard? They are both my top choices right now. Sorry for the questions but you have my dream build and I am very interested.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

The price between that and a lower mhz wasn't too much so I went with the 3000 :) the GPU is amazing it aligns with the gtx 980s, especially when overclocked even more! The monitor... omg is a beaut and amazing with the g-sync capabilities! It's my dream build too!

Cwooley 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Where did you get the wires for the AIO cables

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I provided a link up above to another guy. 5/8" white anti-kink while coils from PrimoChill

Tooth 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I like the lighting, well done.

You forgot the last picture?? Will you add it?

All your pictures are open case, what does the final case look with side door attached??

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Actually the first pic has the door attatched! It looks like it doesn't since the window is so huge! It's awesome

Despicable_Human 1 point 11 months ago

Hey I'm working on saving up for a PC now, I don't mind the price but I want to know what you think. If you could check it out and let me know that would be great! - https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Despicable_Human/saved/qDXD4D

Ghrolt 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

There's so much no in that list I'm not even gonna start...

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

the build parts look great. I think it will turn out well, keep me informed!

Gooberdad 7 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Great looking build. +1

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks :)

quzar469 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

upside down much

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

just like my brain :)

Dukanater 1 point 11 months ago

bro the AIO hoses spiraling the cord around them genius idea iv never seen that before and im absolutely in love with it. so i have to ask was that your idea or did you get it from somewhere else?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks dude! I saw some pics around the internet and many people add it to custom made loops for extreme overclocking so I thought... why not on the AIO unit :)

Renny_YT 1 point 11 months ago

Dig the wire on the tubing for your AiO.

The sweatband is for when you start getting sweaty from hours of intense gaming.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Okay I'm gonna try it out now lets see why game improvment :) Thanks btw I'm loving the wires too!

Omnislash89 5 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Impressive. What a beauty! WHat kind of temps you getting at 4GHz? Any vCore room for an attempt at 4.5?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

Thanks dude! 20c to 30c roughly, I'm going to overclock it this weekend - let's see what happens.

AW1018 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

How'd u get the spring-thing on the AIO tubing?? Daamn.... Y u build upside down bro? Ur PSU is going to fall and take out all ur parts. JK lol

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

haha, it's not as difficult as you think, you just wrap it around! and then cut the ends to fit the length!

AW1018 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Did you have to take the tubing out of the block?

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

nope, just wrapped the coil around!

AW1018 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Did it come as a straight wire?

bengy22 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I can only find 3/4 or 5/8 inch on amazon for the tubing stuff (i want to buy off amazon) do you think this will work? (which one?)

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Even though these things are cheap and would seem pretty easy to find... they aren't! Unfortunately, I couldn't find them for sale in white on Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047WOM74?keywords=5%2F8%20anti-kink&qid=1455083395&ref_=sr_1_10&sr=8-10

**Because they are sold out. Those are even made by the same company fyi.

Oh yes, it is the 5/8in for the tubing - this is the name of what I bought exactly:

PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coil 5/8in. (14mm) (For 5/8in. OD Tubing) - White x2 = $7.98 + Flat shipping to Los Angeles was $5.99 so total was basically $14 bucks.

I had a hard time tracking WHITE ones down, and if I found some... all the online shops were in Europe, 4 times the cost of the item or more, & also some other US Shops had awful shipping prices.

I bought two just in case and I recommend you do as well since it is so inexpensive and I'm sure the shipping price would be the same. Here's the link to the actual product on their site if you missed it in another reply I gave to someone else - http://www.primochill.com/product/primochill-anti-kink-coil-58in-14mm-for-58in-od-tubing-white/

It would have been a hell of a lot easier if it was on Amazon since I have Prime... well either way Amazon is easier, prime or not lol. This worked out alright though- a little slow on shipping though forsure. Hope that helped!

well thanks, i juts wanted to buy from amazon because, like you said it would be a lot easier too.

dwayne547 1 point 11 months ago

Phenomenal build. What are those things on your tubes I see them a lot now

whosluke submitter 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I replied to a comment up above with a link 5/8" WHITE anti - kink coils from PrimoChill! Thanks man!!

ShadowGaming93 1 point 11 months ago

sniperpro 1 point 11 months ago

I watched a review on that case and i can not stand how everything is upside down. but its still a very nice and clean build. powerful too, umm

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks dude! I really love the case and thought it was unique... I really wanted the build on the left side of my desk so it's perfect :)

Hostility 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

This build is so slick! Love the colours and the spring type things that you put on the tubes of your H100i GTX. Well done!

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Thanks man!! :)

Ni9th 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Hahah found myself asking the same question.... (Really NVIDIA a sweatband?!?) lol

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

lol right? we must be the xtreme gamers out there so we got one :)

Ni9th 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

LOL yeah totally use mine even when playing minesweeper.... really pushes the card though ;P

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

haha :) I tried it out and it did help with wrist pain omg still not wearing it in public lol

Ni9th 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Why? ahah I'm sure its a real lady magnet.....lol

deltalove140 1 point 11 months ago

not really upside down if he meant it to be like that, but from the comments it seems like he didn't have that intention. this is a default setup orientation in older rigs xD

LordEbola 2 points 11 months ago

The new Carbide 600c is inverted in design, the top comment was a joke.

deltalove140 1 point 11 months ago

ah haha didn't realize that xD its rare to see inverted cases these days

chatsidd 1 point 11 months ago

Hey I'm thinking about getting that same graphics card, can you run some benchmarks and see how well you do. I've heard it runs better than some 980's. Also if overclock b/c I plan on doing that with that GPU.

LordEbola 1 point 11 months ago

This thing is a beauty! Well done! Any reason for picking that overkill PSU over another than because you can?

JoeBro37 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I think that this build looks AMAZING!! The one thing that I would have pointed out you already mentioned...the GPU. It will look stunning once that is white. So, I have a question (being that I am a total newb at building Gaming PCs). Why did you go for the 970 GPU? Please do not take this as a criticism. It's only a learning opp for me. I was just under the assumption that there are better cards out there in a relatively similar price range. Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

Chuck38 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Very nice build. +1

I want to get some of that anit-kink coil when I finish collecting all the parts I need for my custom loop. Is it easy to cut the coil?

jrhumphrey89 1 point 11 months ago

spent 4k but didn't go 2011 socket and only a gtx 970? why do you need a 1050 watt psu? filled up every ram slot for 16GB? I'm just confused.

chatsidd 1 point 11 months ago

Hey I love your build and was wondering how the GPU does in games at whatever resolution you play at. +1

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

thanks man! works great, just like 980 :)

syntaxerrur 22 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Hey there! Would you mind doing me a favor and measuring the bottom inside of the case from the front to the back where the 360 radiator mounting location would be? Also, can you please measure from the inside bottom left up to the bay shroud where the 2 intake fans are?

I'm trying to determine if this case is capable of running a 280mm radiator in the front and a 360mm radiator in the bottom at the same time. Thank you!

kieranjb 1 point 10 months ago

Just a quick question does anyone know what color the ASUS Z170-A LGA 1151 Intel Z170 PCB is I have spent ages looking for the answer but just get mixed results.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

the pcb is black, also features a faint white light near the audio ports

Sirpz 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

Ew inverted ATX D: I don't mind it too much, but it would annoy the **** outta me every day if I saw that upside down windforce. otherwise, solid build m8 :D

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

lol thanks m8!

Konkim 1 point 10 months ago

Sorry for the late question. But read on online about the motherboard you selected no being able to work out with a SSD. How is that working out for you? Are the able to work at the same time? And if so what steps did you take to get them to work together if they didn't work in the first place.

whosluke submitter 1 Build 1 point 10 months ago

It definitely works with an SSD man! There should be no worries on that. It works the same with any mobo.

Konkim 1 point 10 months ago

Alright. Thank you for the reply. I was just a bit worried because a read a review about it not working. They probably didn't install the cables correctly or at all lol

degamega 1 Build 1 point 9 months ago

Hey nice build, what temps and oc are you getting with the h110i gtx? I am contemplating if I should buy this cooler or build another custom loop setup

jacobsamdal 6 Builds 1 point 9 months ago

What did you use on the tubing for the water cooler tubes?

MJFighter 1 point 9 months ago

Perfect except for one single thing: why do you care replacing the 24pin for the mobo but not the gpu cables? Why?

LucasChristo 1 point 9 months ago

Just wondering, what do I google to find the bands around your cooler tubes?

Karnage 1 point 7 months ago

http://www.primochill.com/product/primochill-anti-kink-coil-12in-11mm-for-12in-od-tubing-white/

This is the one he used. It's an anti-kink coil from primochill.

shorteeayy 1 point 9 months ago

Hello, random question i want to use the same fans you have, and also the corsair H110i GTX, but seeing you have it in the front, im just wondering if it fits at the bottom, will the corsair fans be too big? or will it be fine?

Greg7579 1 point 8 months ago

Thanks for this great post. It convinced me to use this case, and I have never done a build.

My build is here and I am going up-end. Do I need the extra fans like you have? Can you comment on that?

Would you suggest this case if you had it to do again? We don't need those big drive bays in front do we? I'm not planning on adding any kind of DVD or BluRay drive.

I've never done a build and I'm going to screw this up.... Do you think I need more than 750 W? I only have one big GTX 980 Ti card. But you have 1000W. Not sure what the light bar kits are for the Dominator..... Need to check that out.

its upside down lol

LordAnubisCyborg 1 point 8 months ago

felicidades (que pc tan exitante :'v)

HVVH 1 point 6 months ago

How did you fit the anti-kink coils on the closed loop? I wanted to do something like that but would prefer not to take apart the tubing if possible

BlueTile 1 point 5 months ago

How many fans does the MOBO support?

DanteMaxwell253 1 point 3 months ago

where did you get the tubing ? it looks pretty cool and i'm trying out a new build and learn how to use water cooling

EwarWarrior 1 point 2 months ago

whats that white coil around the radiator called?

Dozenal 1 point 28 days ago

That's an anti-kink coil, it prevents the tube from getting bent too much so that the liquid's flow isn't obstructed.

ShadowBender178 1 point 1 month ago

The case is meant to have it's parts configured upside down. The part name does not include the "Inverse" part that the Corsairs website has.

Dozenal 1 point 28 days ago

How's that S2617DG working out for you? I'm considering getting one for my build.

jackmcgee42 1 point 14 days ago

Spends $4200 on a computer one 970 graphics card
