Description

Hello Fellow Builders! This computer was built to do some CAD for an engineering class that im going to be taking in Highschool. This build will also be used for light gaming such as Minecraft and Terraria. the most demanding game that i will be playing is Skyrim, which it does quite well on highest settings. I'm guessing that it goes around 35-50 fps on max settings. i Overclocked my Ram to 1866 MHZ so its fast and actually surprisingly doesn't get overheating problems. Here goes my review on all the things i bought.

CPU: Performs Excellent, and for a good price too CPU Cooler: Again it Cools Great with my Overclocked CPU MOBO: Works Great, love ASUS. I wish it had more PCI-E slots. RAM: Its ram HD: Runs fast and cool, its from a laptop GPU: Absolutely AMAZING, runs fast and cool with two fans Case: Great Cable management, and a great spot for the H60 Optical Drive: ............. it opens and closes and reads and writes disks... Operating System: Windows .... I originally despised it put now i don't mind it Monitor: Got it for $325 on eBay refurbished. Works great and its HUGE.

Well, thats all for now. Got a question or comment? Please leave one as i am glad to answer them. 3d mark score: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8496779

P.S. Will be posting a new old build, the newest component is from 2002! P.P.S. Will also add more pictures soon as i am currently away from home

It says Overkill but I fail to see what exactly is overkill about this build. Not meant as an insult just wanted to clarify

Agreed.

did you get the GPU for free, or just not enter a price?

Good build but 2 problems. 1. 64c is to hot for an AMD chip. AMD recommends not pushing them over the 60c mark for safety. 2. You have a different motherboard in the parts list then the one in the pictures. The one in the pictures is a Asus R9a79 or a Asus 990x/990fx pro/evo.

Sorry, i fixed it. Just a typo and the MOBO is a Asus M5A97 LE R2.0

Thanks- Alex

Um did you modify an le or something? The one in the picture is not an LE. The LE lacks vrm heatsinks which the mobo in the picture does have. You may have a Non le unit or is there a modification?

I don't Know, i went to Microcenter website and found the name of the mobo that i got from there and found it on here.

Thanks- Alex

GPU is kinda weak for a build like this, and the cables aren't the prettiest either.

Thanks, I'm 14 and i have ADHD. Cant really do anything about it.

Thanks- Alex

Its no reason to not take some time into the cable management.

Not to be rude but there is plenty people out there with the same issue and do just fine.. perhaps you just dont have the patience?

AjKulikowski [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah, i probably dont. I did take about 30 minutes, im just not that good.

I would have recommended going with 8 gigs of RAM (also not a good choice to mix and match) and put that money toward a better GPU. I also would have went with a Hyper 212 to put more money into the GPU. Especially with that 1440p monitor, oyou are going to want to be able to push more pixels faster. Just my two cents, and what I would have done differently. Enjoy the build.

I got the 2x2 gb for free. Ill fix that on the parts list.

Thanks- Alex

TooGood [1 Build] 1 point 3 months ago

Alright. Still, not a good idea to mix kits.

AjKulikowski [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

OK. Thanks for the advice. I took out the 2x2 GB modules and put them into a different computer.

Thanks- Alex

pegotico 1 point 3 months ago

why mixing ram!! the 8 gig of Kingston are enough, get rid of the crucial...

AjKulikowski [Submitter] [3 Builds] 1 point 3 months ago

Well, it was originally created for school, specifically CAD design and word processing. I could have built it with a pentium and a 2-4 gb ddr3 GPU. Plus, 12 GB ram is quite a bit, is it not?

Thanks for responding/clarifying -Alex

BenPSkinner 1 point 3 months ago

Do not have two different RAM modules in the same pc! Only use matching RAM..

nice build +1. as the others have said, not really overkill, but a decent build.
