johngerges582 12 points 11 months ago

Yeah that "high quality all steel construction" gimmick is just marketing crap. Not worth it at all. You went with the much better choice. :P +1

joshzpants 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

LOL

526christian 10 points 11 months ago

Before anyone freaks out, the temperature of combustion for cardboard is easily above anything any part of the PC would see without dying beforehand.

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 3 points 11 months ago

Yeah, I was measuring the temps of the bottom of the motherboard and it didn't seem to be too hot. The fans are awesome because the positive pressure coming out the back is quite high.

NickDim 9 points 11 months ago

dude, you should start manufacturing this, I would totally buy it

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 13 points 11 months ago

$3.50

ankousmachine 2 Builds 4 points 11 months ago

JacobGunther12 3 points 11 months ago

Seems legit. +1

joshzpants 3 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

dont use the case! It looks wayyyyyy better in the box =P

what case are you getting?

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Silverstone Tek Micro-ATX on Amazon, it had decent reviews and I didn't need anything expensive.

FACUNDO 12 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

Best bang for the buck PC!

brian_paulsen123 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

I love the box. This makes me want to fit an ATX mini into a cereal box. Luck Charms FTW.

TechyinAZ 13 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

LOL good idea! But I'd be worried sick since it's a fire hazard.

powellbm86 8 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

A) LOL B) I'm diggin it!

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 2 points 11 months ago

I ordered a new case in the mail. The new box will make a nice upgrade.

rexox19 2 points 2 months ago

i love this

SaintsEnd 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

All we need now is a super impressive cardboard box case... Where it actually has drive mounts, side panels etc.

SaintsEnd 1 Build 2 points 11 months ago

It also needs to be led lit and water cooled. lol

Jhobbster 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

That is watercooled. Do you not see the green tubes?

Jhobbster 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

Or the radiator that is on the top?

SaintsEnd 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

I don't see any leds. needs both leds and water cooled :)

CrazedGunner 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

And your GPU?

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

iGPU for now (Minecraft runs at 100FPS), then I have a 7750.

stisaac 1 point 11 months ago

Yeah, its an apu, built in graphics, man.

stisaac 1 point 11 months ago

Sweet box man!

tsiv 1 point 11 months ago

still better looking than the predator g6

ElJuego1977 6 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Did I hear someone say, "Overclock"?

BTPraat 1 point 11 months ago

I hope you're joking

shadowcrafter01 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

XD that's awesome! its funny how you'd have to cut holes to add a new GPU! XD

btw, are those fans facing out? cause i think that helps with cooler temps. if they blow in that could make the air get compressed a little and heat up, just sayin.

but you really should line the edges with metal to keep static from building up. i think you could even use the static-proof bags the stuff came in, but idk

Jake762by39 6 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Enthusiast cases are overrated.

peace1818 1 point 11 months ago

Best Build ever ;)

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 5 points 11 months ago

Jäßßäwöçkëë 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Phillip.Phillip 1 point 11 months ago

Because why the hell not. Honestly this is perfect. +1 M8

cerickson993 1 point 11 months ago

This is pretty great. Not only for while you're waiting for said case, but also if you're trying to save a buck.

UGame_ 1 point 11 months ago

Definitely better case than mine.

-- Also wtf is EVGA marketing their memory as "superclocked" like their video cards now? It is only at 1600MHz...

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

And it crashes when overvoltaged and overclocked... lol

It was cheap at microcenter so I got it.

waffle502 3 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

i laughed my *** off when i read the desc.

DaTakenDawg 1 point 11 months ago

This is pretty nice and I'm not gonna lie.

Red_Eagle 1 point 11 months ago

Evgueni 1 point 11 months ago

LOL. All I got!

ChefStewie 1 point 11 months ago

You should upgrade to the cardboard box that your trash case is going to come in...

FunnyRock 2 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

I thought the name was some kind of metaphor or something.. It's actual cardboard. This is awesome! good job! i did something similar when i was waiting for my case too.

cajunsloth 7 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

The airflow and form factor of this case would be perfect for crossfire R9 290's with stock coolers. +1

mrwatsont 1 point 11 months ago

Is that case any good? How is the airflow and is there much room for cable management? And does it come with any case fans? Looking to purchase one of them myself. Thanks

AlphaCeph 1 point 11 months ago

Are cases out there for 10-20 pounds...

pyrogab29 1 point 11 months ago

+1 for that awesome ghetto case

M786R 1 point 11 months ago

Fricking awesome :)

thesilentbarry123 1 Build 1 point 11 months ago

now you need a google cardboard viewer for your vr needs :p

Gooberdad 7 Builds 1 point 11 months ago

Ha.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do i get hammered and build crazy hobo pc's like this.

Cardboard seems to be on the rise lately. Paint it so it looks like plastic, wood or metal or a pile of vow manure.

+1 on your build.

SwagMaster02 1 point 11 months ago

this is the best ghetto pc

Zggui 1 point 11 months ago

KaosRules 1 point 7 months ago

i never knew Columbia made such high quality cases!

Sagittarius-A-star 1 point 7 months ago

Woah, love the case man! ;-) +1

ElijahDawgYT 1 point 5 months ago

To be honest I didn't know you could build a computer inside a cardboard box. (I'm a teen lol) this build is AWESOME!

Dubesta11 submitter 11 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

If you get the right size box, its very possible and somewhat easy to accomplish. I would not recommend it for long term use because of the risk of fire (which is still low, but possible), and the lack of power button which is usually built into the case. Still a fun project :)

Turbanmaster 1 point 4 months ago

Basically my case

tadtheman28 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Very creative idea

Not implying that this was hard, but it took a little bit of effort and creativity. Generally weird builds like this and overkill builds get the most upvotes.
